Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Atlas' Suggestion

Aria Avalon woke at 6 am every day before her siblings did, she would freshen up and then go over her books. Today however Aria didn't think about school.

Although it kept her from thinking of home, she instead was thinking about the night before, when she and her brother were stargazing.

It was the most peaceful moment she ever felt since coming to Naru. She slept for the first time without worry or stress.

'I should have gone with Jake earlier' Aria thought just as she was interrupted by her brother, up before her doing sit-ups on the floor.

"Jake? What are you doing" Aria confusedly said to her brother.

"Oh hey Aria, doing some exercise, it's a lovely morning isn't it?" Jake who carried on doing sit-ups nonchalantly spoke to his sister as she watched on.

"Oh ok, I'm going to go wash up" Aria spoke to Jake, confused and surprised by her brother's behaviour.

Entering their bathroom Aria had noticed her brother's demeanor had changed. 'What's up with Jake, he hates mornings and why was he acting so different' Aria thought to herself as she continued washing up.

'98..99..100. oof' Jake who was finally finished fell onto his back trying to catch his breath.

'Ugh I don't think I'll be able to move anymore, Atlas was this really necessary?' Jake sighed and spoke to the Atlas.

(Well done Jake, you managed to push through it. Yes, this is necessary. But don't worry it will get easier in a few days.)

'Haaa, I wanna sleep' Jake moaned as he got into his bed.

(Well, I'm sure you can take a little rest.)

As Jake closed his eyes finally managing to get comfortable, his alarm went off.

Jake sighed as he woke up and went to the bathroom. 'Fine fine, I'll wake up, don't laugh at me'.

(Why would I laugh Jake?) The atlas spoke with a hint of sarcasm, which Jake had noticed.

4 Months Later

Jake was currently in class with Lyra waiting for their teacher.

Jake was busy thinking of the last few months of training and help he had received from the Atlas.

Jake now was much fitter compared to before with the Atlas monitoring most of his vitals for optimal growth. The Atlas was even able to remind and replay some of Jake's memories for him.

Although the Atlas was able to answer almost any question, it was also helping Jake understand knowledge in seconds by instantly cramming information right into his brain the moment his eyes viewed it.

With this Jake was able to learn almost anything in a single try, while the rest of Jake's classmates were busy learning simple maths, Jake was currently understanding Naru's current Trading paths as well as profitability in certain routes and resources, with the Atlas emphasising it's importance and role in Jake's success in finding the ChronoScribe.

Suddenly a hand grabbed Jake's shoulder as he jolted and turned around instantly relaxing and showing a small smile.

"Hey Lyra" Jake spoke as he looked at Lyra who stood behind him.

"Hey Jake, where are we going today?" Lyra giggled and spoke to Jake as this was the most exciting part of the day for her.

2 months ago, Lyra's father had agreed to Lyra being able to hang out with Jake as long as she was home before sunset and didn't leave the town.

'Hmmm, Atlas what do you think, where should we go next.' Jake asked the Atlas.

(Well, we've done almost everything we could here in town but maybe? I have a suggestion, Jake.) The Atlas spoke to Jake.

Currently, they have done almost everything from Stargazing to visiting almost every shop in the bazaar. Jake, Lyra and sometimes Aria would even join them on their adventures around the town which was why Lyra was extremely happy as Jake would always make sure she had fun.

'What is it Atlas?' Jake asked.

(As you know I was found in an excavation near the mines. As much as I know a lot, I have no idea who was transporting me and why.)

(Maybe we could get some clues if we went to it.) The Atlas told Jake.

'Hmm, you're right but I don't think Lyra's father would let us go near the mines, it might be too dangerous' Jake expressed his concerns.

(What if your father took us to the site? Since he's the manager of the section A7-B, he could show us around.

I feel we could learn a lot from the site and with your training you won't get tired early.) The Atlas spoke trying to convince Jake.

'You're right but wouldn't it be better if we went without Lyra, it will be safer for her and us as well.'

(Yes however I feel we shouldn't delay going as soon as possible, remember there are other forces also searching for the ChronoScribe and we never know when they might come here in search of me, plus Lyra would be sad if we don't take her.)

'Alright, alright I don't want to make Lyra sad, I'll message Dad and ask Lyra if she can convince her Dad.' Jake finally relented.

"Hmm, how about we go to the mines?" Jake asked Lyra as he finished speaking to the Atlas, their conversation being almost instantaneous.

"I don't know, Dad said we can't go to the mines as it's very dangerous" Lyra spoke unconvinced of Jake's plans.

"What if we went with my Dad, and we don't have to go in the mines but to the excavation near it? We'll be safe and won't be in the mines but just near it?" Jake smiled trying to convince Lyra.
