"So, Margan, what are we going to do with this kid?" Elisie, the middle-aged woman with red hair, asked the man beside her.
Margan, with a rough look on his face, long hair, and kind eyes, smiled as he looked at Elisie and then turned to gaze at the young man sleeping beside them.
"I am not sure, but if we let him stay in this forest, he will die,"
Margan replied.
Elisie took a deep breath and shook her head.
"Why should we care?"
Margan shook his head and got up.
"We are humans, in the end, not monsters."
Elisie giggled a little bit and then changed the subject.
"After he awakens, we will talk to him and then let him go."
Margan opened his mouth to say something, but no words came out.
--------------------
"Where am I?"
The young man opened his eyes and asked as he looked around himself.
Seconds later, he saw a woman shouting to the outside of the ten.
"Margan, come here; he is awake!"
The young man looked at the man who had entered the tent.
The man looked at himself with kind eyes and then asked.
"Hello, young man, Do you remember anything?"
The young man, about to say something, suddenly stopped and started shaking.
It seemed like he had entered some sort of trance.
"What is happening to him? Is he infected or something like that?"
Elisie asked, fear evident in her voice.
"I'm not sure,"
Margan answered, keeping his gaze on the trembling young man.
Seconds later, the shaking of the young man stopped.
---------
"I am Aron. I do not remember about my past."
The young man named Aron spoke.
His voice was calm, and he seemed a little bit lost.
Margan nodded and looked at Elisie.
"See, he's fine and not infected."
Margan then turned to Aron.
"I am Margan, and this is Elisie, my wife. Aron, first of all, you are in the Schel Great Plains in the Green Haven Grasslands."
Aron nodded and took a deep breath.
"I understand. I feel weak; can I rest alone for a little bit?"
Elisie opened her mouth to express her dissatisfaction, but Margan intervened.
"Of course, take your time. We will talk later."
After Margan spoke, Elisie didn't add anything, and the couple left the tent.
Aron took a deep breath and started thinking.
"I am from Earth, and my name is Aron Flear. I died and transmigrated. I am not sure how I died or why I am transmigrating here."
"This place is called the Gray Universe; the voice in my head tells me so."
Aron took a deep breath and touched his head.
"I have learned simple things about this world, the Gray Universe. I also remember most of the things from my past."
When Aron entered a trance-like situation, he saw many things about the Gray Universe and how people lived in this place. He also remembered his past life on Earth.
The Gray Universe unfolded before Aron as a harsh and unforgiving realm where every night brought forth a slew of terrors.
Monsters, zombies, and vampires roamed the desolate landscapes, and the air crackled with the presence of dark magic and mysterious forces.
Life was a constant struggle for survival, and the people of this place faced nightly horrors that tested their resilience.
Aron closed his eyes for a moment, and a blue panel manifested in front of his eyes as he willed it.
---------------
"Aron Flear"
"Traveler (???)
"Physical Power 10" (Basic Human)
"Spiritual Power: 1" (Basic Human)"
Athletic Ability: 8" (Basic Human)
"Passive Ability"
Scan (Max) (an ability that lets the user scan others and items without any command or spending any energy)
---------------
After about twenty minutes, Aron, who was still thinking, was distracted by Margan, who entered the tent.
He was carrying two bowls in his hands.
"Here, Aron, these are vegetable soup and some black bread. You should eat to get well."
Aron took the bowls and then thought within his mind.
Aron nodded and then he used his ability on Margan.
"Scan !"
---------------
"Margan"
"Human"
"Physical Power—17" (Intermediate Human)
"Spiritual Power: 1" (Basic Human)"
"Athletic Ability: 13" (Basic Human)
"Passive Ability"
"Strong Body (the body is 30 times stronger than ordinary humans)"
"Warrior Training Level 2 (the training of warriors grants %10 attack damage and %10 weapon mastery as well as fighting capability)
-----------------
Aron gulped and then nodded.
"Yeah, if we had bad intentions, I would have no chance to resist him at all."
"He is stronger than ordinary humans by at least twice training warriors and having skills that are akin to magic."
Aron, at this point, already knew because of the voice in his head that the Gray Universe, as the name suggests, is a different universe altogether.
Here, magic is everywhere, and many weird things that could be classified as fantasies exist.
Compared to what he learned when he was in a trance, Margan having huge physical power and abilities similar to magic is not something that could shake him.
"Thank you, Margan, for helping me out."
Aron spoke.
Margan smiled and started talking.
"Did you remember anything? Where did you live? What happened to you?"
Aron shook his head.
"I don't remember many things about the world or other things."
Margan thought a little.
"Do you know how to read by any chance?"
Aron gulped, and then the voice in his head started talking.
It was a robotic voice that he found easy to listen and understand.
"Users can read anything in this world."
Aron then answered as he let out his cold breath.
"Yeah, I can."
Margan nodded happily.
"Excellent, please wait here; I think Elisie had some books she was carrying with herself."
As Margan got up, Elisie entered and asked Margan.
"Hey, where are you going?"
Margan smiled at his wife and spoke.
"He said that he can read but still does not remember many things. I was thinking of giving him some of your books for the time being so he could read and refresh his memory."
Elisie furrowed her brows and took a deep breath.
"I don't like my books to be given to others."
Elisie then turned to look at the young face of Aron and then shook her head.
"But this time, just give him books and make him learn. Tomorrow morning, I want him to go."
As Elisie said these words, she left without looking at Aron.
Aron showed a helpless face and thought.
"It is clear to see that she does not trust me at all."
If this were Earth, Aron would say that she was just being paranoid.
But as he knows about the Gray Universe to some degree, he can understand why Elisie is paranoid and not trusting himself.
This place has vampires, mages, necromancers, devils, demons, and many other kinds of things.
Who would trust anybody without spending a huge amount of time and sharing things with them?
