Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Purchasing_1

Alright, even though this ten thousand yuan still legally belonged to him, Chen Yang understood in his heart that no matter how unwilling he was to part with it, in reality, it no longer belonged to him.

Numbly turning around, Chen Yang slowly headed towards the bank's entrance. The bank guard standing off to the side eyed Chen Yang warily, as if trying to glean something from Chen Yang's emotionless face. But he was disappointed; this guy seemed to be just an ordinary citizen. Though his demeanor and actions were a bit odd, he had done nothing out of the ordinary.

Consequently, the guard diverted his gaze, shifting it from Chen Yang to focus on the bank's lobby. At that instant, a "thud" resounded from behind him, causing him to spin around.

A robbery!

The thought flashed across his mind. The guard had been working in a bank for almost five years, and as a guard, this was the first time he'd seen someone daring to rob someone at the bank's entrance. His expression changed, quickly pulling the baton from behind his back and rushing towards the entrance. The unfortunate young man who was being robbed seemed petrified, and stood on the spot, letting the robber in the black shirt flee into the distance.

"Quickly..."

Just as the guard was about to yell "call the police" when he ran to the side of the young man, he only blurted the first word when he saw a blur. The young man had disappeared.

"So fast,"

The guard was shocked. The robber in the black shirt had already run over twenty meters, yet the robbed young man had caught up to him in the blink of an eye. Like an eagle capturing a chick, he grabbed the robber by the neck and flung him. The man rolled about like a gourd, screaming in pain.

"Damn it."

The guard didn't know what to say. This dramatic event had his brain nearly short-circuiting. He rubbed his eyes, holding his baton as he jogged up to the two.

Seeing the young man picking up the wad of cash that had been snatched from him, the guard began, "You..."

The next moment, the guard felt his body stiffen and his hands and feet turn cold. He couldn't utter a single word. He stared in awe as the young man picked up the money and turned around like nothing had happened.

It was only after the cries of the man in the black shirt snapped the guard back to reality that he realized he'd broken out in a cold sweat.

What kind of look was that?

It was not anger, fear, relief, or even coldness.

It was "emptiness"...

A gaze void of all emotions and color.

No, the guard suddenly realized. It was not "emptiness". It was utter indifference, like a human stepping on an ant. Would humans feel anything after crushing an ant?

All of a sudden, the guard felt a wave of humiliated rage, but, like having been stared down by a tiger, he also felt drained, as if he'd narrowly escaped death. He knew that he would never forget that look for the rest of his life, even though everyone would take it as an illusion if he told them.

On the other side, Chen Yang, who had already turned several corners, was enduring the punishment handed down by his right hand. Each step he took delivered a jolt of pain from his feet, as if he was walking on burning coals. Every step caused his body to tremble, his teeth to chatter incessantly, and cold sweat to pour down his face.

This was his punishment for being careless. According to his right hand, this level of pain, delivered through a surge in nerve stimulation, was the minimum.

Chen Yang knew this was right. If his right hand hadn't taken control of his body just now, he wouldn't have been able to catch up to the robber, let alone recover the money. He had never killed a chicken before, how could he fight a strong, sturdy robber?

The money was back, which was a reason to be delighted, but in Chen Yang's mind, he would rather lose the ten thousand yuan than endure this inhuman pain.

Humans have a limit to the pain they can endure. Once that limit is surpassed, they would faint in order to escape the pain. But, with a mysterious entity capable of controlling Chen Yang's central nervous system, no matter how intense the pain was, Chen Yang had no choice but to endure it soberly.

Therefore, for Chen Yang, walking down this sunlit street was like walking through hell.

Fortunately, the punishment only lasted for ten seconds, and despite it feeling like an eternity, he gritted his teeth and bore it. Chen Yang received a "pardon" from Right Hand, granted a minute break by the roadside.

"Huff, huff, huff..."

He took big gulps of air. Sweat had soaked through his hair, and his cheeks were streaked with dried sweat. His eyes, bloodshot from enduring pain, stared fixedly at the ground.

"If there's a next time, the punishment will increase to twenty seconds..."

The sound transmitted directly from the bones of his right hand to his eardrums, causing Chen Yang to startle at the sound, not daring to utter a word of rebuttal as he moved onward.

His next destination was a second-hand goods market, a well-known one around the third ring road, where you could find everything from furniture to electronics.

But what was the purpose of coming here? He had no idea.

What he could affirm was that he was undoubtedly here to spend money. Chen Yang touched the wad of money in his pocket, that was beyond doubt.

Subsequently, his conjecture proved correct. At the behest of the constant commands from his right hand, his mouth gaped wider and wider in shock at the items he'd purchased. A 19-inch monitor, two 27-inch monitors, a computer case, someone's second-hand graphics card, and various electronic gadgets.

Even though they were all second-hand goods, it cost him over three thousand yuan. What puzzled Chen Yang even more was the peculiar taste of this unknown creature living in his right hand. It seemed to judge these electronic devices in its own way. Admirable monitors and graphics cards in Chen Yang's view, were dismissed after his right hand gave them a touch, instead choosing those that didn't look as good.

Chen Yang couldn't voice his disagreement but was inwardly sneering.

It was as though Right Hand sensed Chen Yang's sentiment and awarded him a sudden burst of pain as punishment, nonchalantly commenting, "Humans, the more expensive things are not necessarily more useful. Only what fits your own needs is most practical. Besides, given your financial status, which by your human standards falls below the average income line, do you have the capacity to buy the best things?"

Ah, so it's my fault now?

Sorry about my income level then.

Sensing a faint glimpse of the thought, Chen Yang hurriedly cleared his mind, not wanting to endure another punishment.

Afterwards, Chen Yang, strolling to a hardware market under the direct instructions of Right Hand, bought a drill and a jack hammer capable of dismantling hardened material like concrete stone, along with all kinds of miscellaneous cables, screwdrivers, nails, pipes, metal sheets, etc. With all these odds and ends that he'd purchased, it was as if he was collecting junk, causing his scalp to tingle.

In the end, after having spent over nine thousand yuan, his wild shopping spree finally came to an end.

With trembling lips, Chen Yang looked at the pile of stuff. Helpless, he followed the owner's suggestion, hired a van, paid a transportation fee of a hundred and fifty yuan, and had the goods delivered to his house.

The driver, of course, didn't offer to help unload the goods but just took the money, patted his bottom, and drove off, leaving Chen Yang staring gloomily at the pile of goods by his front door, heaving a sigh.

"Human, you have ten minutes to move all these things into the basement."

"Basement?"

Chen Yang didn't gasp at the ten-minute time limit but was taken aback by the mention of the basement. Indeed, there was a basement, located a flight of stairs below. The place had become a storage dump and it had been a long time since Chen Yang last set foot in it.

"You only have ten minutes…"

Right Hand reiterated the time constraint.

Chen Yang didn't dare to slack off. Quickly, he found the key to the basement from a bunch of keys, ran to open the basement door, covering his nose to avoid the stink, and switched on the basement light.

Thanks to heaven, the incandescent lamp that hadn't been used for a long time didn't play any tricks and turned on as usual, emitting dim light that exposed the hundred square meter basement under Chen Yang's scrutinizing gaze.

Wood, bags of cement, disused furniture, sundry trash bags. That was the true state of the basement.

Chen Yang immediately had an ominous feeling, and sure enough, the next moment -

"Human, after moving the goods, clean up this place."

Damn, how long will it take to clean such a large area?

Chen Yang, who had just managed to regain some colour to his face, turned pale again.

Downcast, he returned to the entrance and began moving the goods.

"Uh, Mr. Chen..."

A soft and surprised voice came from the doorway.
