Chapter 37 - Chapter 18 People Do Not Suffer From Scarcity_3

Hao Chengbin was all smiles as he announced that Fang Huai no longer needed to undergo synchronized training; instead, he could come in on Saturday for extra drills and practice the second set of exercises.

This inadvertently revealed something, causing the new recruits behind him to tighten their legs with worry.

"What? Extra drills on Saturday??"

Hao Chengbin noticed the dumbfounded new recruits and realized he had let something slip. He chuckled nervously without explaining, scanned the crowd, caught sight of Pan Zhaohui, and walked away with his hands behind his back.

He was most likely taking his spoils of war.

Yue Tao looked stupefied, then complained with a bitter face, "It's over; it's over. I wanted to rest well on Saturday. Now that's not gonna happen..."

"Man, I shouldn't have joined this damn army!" Jiang Peng also started to complain.

Perhaps today he had fully realized his situation, recognizing that there was no hope for him to stand out. Moreover, as a new recruit in the troops, his status was far lower than he had imagined. The so-called equality between officers and soldiers was nothing more than a slogan.

Zhao Bing actually began to grouse as well, "Ugh, I'm really freaking exhausted. I tried my best today, but my hands slipped, and Squad Eight's leader made fun of me. Not even a word of comfort from the squad leader."

"You're tired?" Peng Yingqirui, surprised, opened his eyes wide. "If I had your strength, I'd wake up laughing from a dream! We couldn't pull ourselves up even once, and we all got punished with push-ups!

The company leader even said he would set up a separate class for us on the weekends!

Damn, that's just too cruel! The company leader is a sly one! Always looks like he's laughing, but he's plotting something wicked!

Just because you did one more pull-up than us? Why does that make such a difference?"

"Exactly! I definitely went over the bar, but that Squad Six leader said it didn't count!" Sun Lianhai was also deeply frustrated.

It was Lu Zexian who had managed that one pull-up. Now, he wore a smug smile as if he had just played a clever trick, clapping Peng Yingqirui on the shoulder as he said.

"Because being able to do one pull-up at least shows a certain level of strength. But those who can't do a single one, it's hard to know just how weak they really are."

Peng Yingqirui shook off the hand vigorously, looking dissatisfied. "You're just taking advantage of being tall! You cheated by getting a boost when you jumped up! You think I didn't see it?"

Fang Huai watched this unfold and suddenly realized that while he had been focused on the parallel bars, it seemed like a lot had happened with everyone else.

He wanted to say a few words of encouragement, but he didn't want to stand out from the group, so he ended up joining in their complaints.

"Enough, guys, no more complaining. Today I was first in performance for the entire company, and I still got chewed out by Old Pan without being able to talk back.

He's such a cynic, spouting all sorts of nonsense. He targeted me and ranted, making my fists clench, but what can I do? He's the squad leader!"

Deflecting the blame seemed to be the best coping strategy at the moment.

Indeed, upon hearing this, Yue Tao immediately perked up with energy.

"Exactly! Even Fang Huai, with his great physical fitness, gets scolded. And he does it when there's a crowd, the nerve! That Pan Zhaohui, short and chubby as a sweet potato—exactly like Big Potato from 'Old Master Q.' Hey, have you guys seen 'Old Master Q'? It's hilarious! Have you, Fang Huai?"

"Yes, I've seen it," Fang Huai replied, rolling his eyes.

Yue Tao, this guy, Fang Huai really had to admire him. He figured Yue Tao could even survive a zombie apocalypse with his ability to self-soothe. The guy's psychological resilience was off the charts.

The others had been harboring their grievances, but seeing Fang Huai, the star of the afternoon's training, also complaining made them feel a lot more balanced.

People do not suffer from scarcity but from inequality.

Fellow leaders, book friends, comrades, in crucial times like these, if you have time to spare recently, please help by reading through to the end, linger a little, read up to the last page, okay?

I know the updates have been slow lately, but there's nothing I can do. The new book hit the new book period once it reached 200,000 words, so the progress has to be slow. I'm dragging out the list with a little over 4,000 words a day.

I can't get into writing short chapters; I feel like I can't get enough across and would need to start another chapter again, which I know readers wouldn't like. Hence the lack of separate chapters, but that doesn't mean the updates are scant.

I won't elaborate on the reasons much, but it's all about the recommendations and promotions. If the performance is good, I'll do my best to increase updates. I work long hours every day, and after the book goes on sale, I promise consistent updates, ensuring no less than 8,000 words a day, and even reaching 10,000 or more on good days.

Currently stockpiling chapters, thank you.
