It's easy to suffocate from lack of oxygen, inhale mud into the lungs, and once buried, the depth and displacement of persons are significant. When we talk about golden rescue time, that's the international standard, but the reality is once someone goes missing in a mudslide, they are likely dead!
Moreover, rescues are mostly in highland villages, where roads are narrow and can easily be washed away, making rescue difficult.
