Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada, United States, known for its massive tourism, shopping, and resort industries centered around gambling. It's one of the world's famous vacation destinations and one of the four major Gambling Cities.
The main economic pillar of Las Vegas is the gaming industry. Since casinos are gold mines, tycoons from all over the United States have poured investments into building them in Las Vegas. Even Japanese tycoons and Arabian princes, as well as famous actors, have come to invest.
In a sense, Las Vegas was once called "Sin City" simply because of gambling.
Few people know that Las Vegas got its name many years ago from Western pioneers, who named this desolate and barren land "meadows" in hopes of a fertile prairie to graze cattle and sheep.
