"Hmm, Mom is waiting for you." At the other end of the phone, Feng Ting seemed reluctant to talk to Zhang Qianqian and hung up immediately after saying that.
Zhang Qianqian was momentarily stunned. She considered calling back but eventually abandoned the thought and instead asked the taxi driver to change the route to her home which she had not visited in three months.
Forty minutes later, with a touch of unease and worry, Zhang Qianqian returned to the house which once felt devoid of any warmth to her.
When she walked in, her father, Zhang Shengguang, was sitting on the sofa, moodily smoking, while her mother, Feng Ting, was wiping her tears with a tissue.
