Catherine was satisfied with his response. "I appreciate your involvement. On behalf of the CIA, I thank you, and we will provide you with the details of the plan later. I would like, however, to remind you of some important matters, " she said, holding his gaze.
Zhang Ziwen met her stare, signaling for her to continue. He could tell that the woman in front of him was no pushover, her look piercing through her glasses as if she could see right through him.
"I believe you are already aware of the dangers of this covert operation. The CIA generally considers the consequences of failure before proceeding. If the mission fails, I hope that it will not be traced back to the US government. Do you understand my meaning?" Her words were gentle, but her meaning was clear.
