"Is this how you handle a case? Are you kidding me? I want to file a complaint!" Zhang Ziwen was a bit frantic, a prime suspect? Zhang Ziwen felt aggrieved, he was wronged more than Dou'e.
"Whatever."
"I… I want a lawyer."
"You can."
"I…" Zhang Ziwen was a bit disheartened by the police woman's indifferent tone, he couldn't say anything more.
"Anything else? If not, just stay here and think slowly. We'll be back when you figure it out. That's it." The policewoman was so casual as she turned and walked towards the door, leaving Zhang Ziwen behind without a care.
"Don't... don't go, I... I'll talk." Zhang Ziwen was utterly disheartened, and was defeated by this unreasonable person.
"That's right, speak up, I'm listening." The policewoman's triumphant tone made Zhang Ziwen grit his teeth in resentment.
"Little Cao, you continue taking the record."
After instructing Little Cao to prepare the record, she turned to Zhang Ziwen and said, "Speak up, we are short on time, this is your last chance."
"Okay... I'll speak... But you must let me finish, don't rush to leave. I think you've got it wrong. I'm really innocent."
"You mean we misjudged you? I believe you know our policy. We don't falsely accuse a good person nor let a bad one go. Speak up, I want to hear how you're going to argue your way out of this."
Zhang Ziwen was completely exasperated with this beautiful policewoman. It seemed she had made up her mind that he was not a good person. It was impossible to communicate with her, considering she thought he was arguing his innocence only to stir up trouble. Zhang Ziwen found the situation a bit funny and absurd.
Zhang Ziwen decided not to entangle himself with her anymore. He poured out everything that happened, starting from playing cards with his friends, going to the "Sea Blue Sky" for a bath, and doing the "European massage" which he had never done before out of pure curiosity. He emphasized that he was caught by the police after doing only half of the health care session and was put into the detention center...
Zhang Ziwen told her everything then shrugged, "Actually, this matter is very simple. In plain terms, I just had a massage, didn't even finish it. I'm not a member of the Black Dragon Club as you said, that's way off the mark."
"Done talking?"
"Yes, done talking."
"Keep making up stories, Zhang Ziwen. With this attitude, there is no need for me to waste any more time with you. Just bear the consequences." The policewoman's tone had a touch of contempt besides impatience. She thought that Zhang Ziwen couldn't even make up a good story, creating such a ridiculous tale about an unfinished erotic massage.
Damn, why wouldn't she believe him? Zhang Ziwen's image of the beautiful policewoman was completely shattered. He felt a surge of anger. Facing such a stubborn person, he started doubting how she became a Senior Inspector.
It seemed like the policewoman had lost interest in questioning Zhang Ziwen any further. She called for Brother Shuai and was about to leave the interrogation room. Zhang Ziwen was nearly driven to blood vomit by this unreasonable policewoman. He got really angry when he saw her and Brother Shuai already at the door.
"Stop! You stop right there!" In his fury, Zhang Ziwen's roar made the windows of the interrogation room vibrate.
The policewoman and Brother Shuai were startled by Zhang Ziwen's sudden roar of anger. They paused at the door. Brother Shuai apparently felt diminished by Zhang Ziwen's roar and wanted to rush over.
Zhang Ziwen saw his distorted face, probably intending to use force.
Zhang Ziwen stared at him with a cold smile, waiting for him to come closer. With a stomach full of anger and no place to vent it, this guy was asking for trouble. Zhang Ziwen decided to go for it and make things clear, thinkingthere's already a false accusation from these two damn cops, he might as well fight back.
"Little Cao, don't rush!" The policewoman saw Zhang Ziwen's facial expression unusually calm, and she quickly exclaimed to stop him.
Brother Shuai the policeman clearly respected the policewoman's words, and immediately stopped in his tracks, standing three steps away from Zhang Ziwen. He gave him a fierce glare, a glare so obvious that even a fool could decipher its meaning, which was along the lines of "count yourself lucky, or else you'd have been sorry".
Zhang Ziwen ignored his fierce gaze, looking past him, and stared coldly at the policewoman standing behind him.
The policewoman, with her beautiful eyes, sized up Zhang Ziwen a few times. Seeing Zhang staring unblinkingly at her, the atmosphere became somewhat tense. This oppressive atmosphere made her somewhat uncomfortable, and her elegant eyebrows slightly furrowed.
"Zhang Ziwen, is there anything else you want to say?" The policewoman was the first to break the silence, but her tone was still icy.
"There's nothing much to say. I just wanted to tell you to investigate my case properly. Don't assume I am a member of the Black Dragon Club based on your imagination."
"We policemen know how to do our jobs. You don't need to teach us," the policewoman responded to Zhang Ziwen irritably.
"Ha ha, even if you wanted me to teach you, I wouldn't bother, you? You're not worth it." Zhang Ziwen sneered in reply, feeling a sudden wave of disgust toward her.
"You..... Zhang Ziwen! Don't be too arrogant! Don't think I wouldn't dare to deal with you!" The policewoman was clearly enraged by Zhang Ziwen's blatant arrogance.
Seeing the policewoman angry, Brother Shuai the policeman immediately seized the chance to show off, "Inspector Wu, this kid needs to be taught a lesson, let me deal with him. If anything happens, I'll handle it." He even rolled up his sleeves, seemingly ready to take action.
"Just a reminder, you better not lay a hand on me, or else you'll bear the consequences."
Seeing the two policemen growing furious, Zhang Ziwen, on the other hand, began to feel at ease. His tone became more relaxed, and he didn't take them seriously. He had enough of this injustice and didn't want to be at their mercy any longer.
The policewoman saw Zhang Ziwen's sudden change to a confident demeanor, and signalled Brother Shuai to stand down. She again continued to size up Zhang Ziwen. Zhang Ziwen did not avoid her gaze, locking eyes with her. At this moment, Zhang Ziwen realized that he had grown immune to her, unlike when he first saw her entering the interrogation room.
Beauty? Nothing more than that, Zhang Ziwen sneered internally.
After a short period of staring contest, the policewoman finally calmed down. Seeing Zhang Ziwen's unyielding gaze, she broke into a smile. This smile slightly swayed Zhang Ziwen's original disdain for her. She was too beautiful, and her smile, would still make him feel weak. Zhang Ziwen secretly cursed his lack of self-control.
"Zhang Ziwen, it seems like you have powerful backing, daring to speak to the police like this." I don't know where the policewoman's thoughts had wandered to, but from the excited gleam in her eyes and her relaxed tone, she seemed like she had hooked a big fish.
Damn, is this girl born in the year of the Ox? Why would she insist on heading for trouble? Zhang Ziwen felt both funny and frustrated. His anger suddenly seemed absurd. He thought to himself, strange things happen every year, but they're especially plentiful this year and he just happened to run into them.
Zhang Ziwen shook his head and forced a smile, sighed and said: "Forget it forget it, I genuinely have nothing to say to you now. I don't want to continue this conversation, it's pointless. You can investigate on your own and find out all about me. See if I'm the kind of person you imagined. I refuse to get involved in this any further, send me back to the cell, I'm tired."
Having said that, Zhang Ziwen felt exhausted all over.
"And... I don't want to see you two again. Even when the matter is resolved, you don't need to apologize to me. It'd be best if we never see each other again."
After adding that, Zhang Ziwen closed his eyes. He really didn't want to face this unnerving policewoman, let alone that violent Brother Shuai the policeman.
"You....."
The policewoman "you"-ed for a while without managing to continue, obviously angered by his dismissive attitude. Even though Zhang Ziwen's eyes were closed, he could imagine her frustrated expression, imagine her heaving chest in anger, a subtle sense of revenge satisfied him.
After a while, the sound of footsteps leaving the interrogation room was heard. The policewoman and Brother Shuai left. When Zhang Ziwen opened his eyes again, two officers who had originally brought him to the interrogation room entered and handed him his clothes, but didn't ask him to put them on immediately. Zhang Ziwen, with his hands cuffed, clutching his clothes, was taken back to the small cell where he was originally held.

Once again, it's the protagonist of the book who has a bad impression of the police, not the author's personal opinion.
