The golden afterglow was as resplendent as rouge, staining the sparse white clouds drifting across the sky with layers of bashful crimson rays. In the slanting sun, sea and sky merged into a line, the vast blue waters as if gilded with waves of gold, rippling and undulating in harmony, the vivid, soft hues peeled apart in layers. It was ethereal, like a fairyland, where air and water mingled in a dizzying, intoxicating blend of splendid beauty.
"Chirp," a piercing cry sliced through the air, shattering the harmonious scene. Known as the pirates of the sea, a frigatebird circled twice overhead before diving toward its target and clamped its hooked beak onto the tail of a tern. In agonizing pain, the tern shrieked miserably, dropping the fish it had just caught. In an instant, with a dive, the frigatebird had the stolen fish in its beak, and, swollen with pride, it flapped its wings and soared into the sky.
