Connor maintained an air of superiority throughout the evening, subtly exuding the aura of a mob boss. Although Basil Jaak wasn't intimidated, he still flattered Connor against his better judgement, pleasing Connor and striving to get the contract signed sooner.
After three rounds of drinks, Connor finally broached the subject of business.
"I hear from Kyrie that you're looking to acquire one million dollars' worth of goods?" Connor asked, narrowing his eyes.
Basil Jaak nodded and said, "These days, putting money in the bank is just feeding parasites, and throwing it into the stock market is like tossing it into a black hole without a trace. Smuggling, now, that's where the real profit is!"
Connor narrowed his eyes and sneered, "Smuggling is a serious crime, whereas those other two aren't illegal at all!"
Basil Jaak leaned in close to Connor and whispered, "It's only a serious crime if you get caught. If you don't, you make a fortune."
