Ever since Josiah left, Basil Jaak saw Jessica Flack staring at him unblinkingly, like Meng Jiangnu yearning for her husband. It made him feel somewhat guilty, as if he had done something to her and wasn't taking responsibility for it.
"Ahem..." Jaak placed a hand over his mouth and coughed twice before saying, "Josiah's name is rather amusing, isn't it? Josiah, shamelessly ignorant. I wonder why his father named him something so interesting."
Jessica didn't laugh, she just moved her gaze away from Jaak, quietly sighed, and withdrew her gaze.
Seeing Jessica withdraw her gaze, Jaak finally breathed a sigh of relief. He was just finding an excuse to slip away when he felt her eyes on him again.
"Why does this girl keep staring at me like that? Could she really have fallen for me?" Jaak thought, holding his chin, though the possibility felt as likely as blowing up the Earth. "Could she be upset about Josiah? That could be possible."
