After dinner, Basil Jaak changed into a tighter suit, hailed a cab on the street, and headed to the designated hotel.
Zoc had already booked a room for Basil, who simply picked up the key card at the front desk and went straight upstairs.
With an hour to spare before his encounter with Lucius and Lydia, Basil surveyed the hotel room to ensure the absence of listening devices or cameras. Once secure, he took out a prepared rope and moved onto the balcony.
Basil tossed the rope towards the balcony of the room next door, securing its iron hook on the railing. After a couple of tug checks, he took a daring leap, landing right under the neighboring balcony.
Using the rope, Basil quickly climbed up and landed firmly on the balcony.
The room next door was silent. Basil initially thought it was empty, but to his surprise, he soon heard the sound of running water.
Could it be that Lucius had arrived already?
