Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Seems like, really sobered up now

There was a silence on the other end of the phone probably mulling over Zhu Qianying's words.

Zhu Qianying patiently held the phone without rushing, until she heard an annoyed but clearly compromising voice from the receiver, "Alright, wait for me at home!"

Zhu Qianying secretly breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank you, Young Master Yan!"

"Call me Qin Xiu!" It was evident that the man on the other end didn't want to engage in any further conversation with her.

Luckily, she herself didn't want to hear more of his grating tone. As he said so, she handed the phone to Qin Xiu in front of her as if she was pardoned, "He wants to talk to you!"

Qin Xiu took the phone, his voice trembling as he began, "Master, is there anything else?"

"Have Uncle Hai arrange for someone to send her home, and you come help me prepare some files."

Hearing Young Master Yan's tone, it seemed he was no longer as angry as before. While admiring Zhu Qianying, Qin Xiu quietly celebrated his luck.

Based on his past experience, to appease Young Master Yan's temper after angering him to such an extent, he would have to suffer a bit.

Yet this time, Zhu Qianying had just spoken a few words over the phone and considerably diffused Young Master Yan's rage. It seemed that having Boss Lady Zhu around might not be such a bad thing after all.

Zhu Qianying, not wanting to court further disaster, went straight downstairs. Uncle Hai handed her the newly delivered mobile phone, "Miss Wu, this is your phone."

Zhu Qianying took it and opened it to see, "Eh? Why are there two?"

"The young master said one is a spare!" Uncle Hai dared not relay the master's exact words to her.

Young Master Yan had originally said, "That girl has a terrible temper, give her two phones!"

Zhu Qianying raised her eyebrows, outright not believing Uncle Hai's words. To think, Young Master Yan, would he ever be so considerate?

However, someone gave her an extra phone for free. That's a good thing. As for the motive behind it, it's best to just ignore it.

"Please thank Young Master Yan for me, Uncle Hai!"

Regardless of how Zhu Qianying felt about Young Master Yan, she would still maintain absolute courtesy and politeness on the surface.

"Miss Wu is too polite. Also, this box is a token of Young Master Yan's appreciation for Master Zhu. We forgot to hand it over to Miss Wu yesterday due to the sudden rush."

Zhu Qianying glanced at the beautifully wrapped gift. Perhaps, it wouldn't be a gift that Young Master Yan arranged. Most likely, Uncle Hai took the initiative. How could Young Master Yan, that type of person, go through the trouble of doing something pleasing yet flashy?

"Uncle Hai, you're too kind. I can't accept this gift!"

Anyone could guess that the gift prepared by the Yan Family, such a prestigious household, would not be cheap. If she took it home to her father, he would definitely be overjoyed.

But why should she please someone who had failed to meet his responsibilities as a father?

After a lot of pushing and pulling, Zhu Qianying remained firm and did not accept the gift. Left with no choice, Uncle Hai gave up.

When Zhu Qianying got into the car, she didn't forget to tell Uncle Hai who was standing outside, "Uncle Hai, please convey my message to Young Master Yan, I'll buy a gift and await his call."

She was sure that Uncle Hai was a very responsible butler. Besides serving Young Master Yan, he also served the old lady and gentleman of the Yan family. Leaving a good impression on him was essential.

As Uncle Hai turned to deliver a freshly brewed coffee to the study, he saw Young Master Yan pick up the coffee to drink, but did not leave.

"Something else?" Young Master Yan cast a sidelong glance at Uncle Hai.

"I took the liberty of preparing a gift for Master Zhu and asked Miss Wu to deliver it. However, Miss Wu was unwilling to accept it."

Young Master Yan casually acknowledged him with an, "Hmm," apparently not wanting to discuss Zhu Qianying any further, "It's about time, go pick up my parents."

Uncle Hai withdrew as orders, and Qin Xiu, Young Master Yan's special assistant, also took a sip of his coffee.

"Master, about Miss Zhu..."

From the moment he entered to now, half an hour had passed and it was only now that Qin Xiu dared to mention Zhu Qianying to Young Master Yan.

"Hmm?"

Young Master Yan had already put down his coffee, his fingers flying over the keyboard.

Like Zhu Qianying, most people only heard of his fearsome reputation, considering him a wasteful playboy just living off his inheritance. After all, maintaining the business of the Yan and Tong families was enough for several lifetimes of indulgence.

Very few knew his management skills even outshone his father's. As for the shady business of the Tong family, he handled it effortlessly. There had been no rumors of internal strife in the Tong family over the years, demonstrating his adept management in both legitimate and illicit businesses.

Therefore, when he said he didn't have time to pick up the two old people at the airport, he wasn't lying.

Qin Xiu glanced at Young Master Yan carefully, observing his focused demeanor and lack of interruption, so he resumed his conversation.

"Master, I think Zhu Qianying is pretty good."

Actually, what he wanted to say was that she was rather special, unlike typical girls, and was neither delicate nor affected.

But he was afraid that if he said too much, Young Master Yan would lose patience, so he summarized his thoughts into two simple words: pretty good.

"Hmm!" Young Master Yan responded with a half-hearted agreement, surprisingly without any counterargument.

Qin Xiu's purpose was to say a few good words for Zhu Qianying, hoping that Young Master Yan wouldn't hold a grudge against her.

But now it seemed, such measures might have been unnecessary?

Young Master Yan didn't seem to be angry at Zhu Qianying at all. It appeared he was being overly worried.

Just as Qin Xiu was considering starting a new topic to probe his Master's thoughts, he heard Young Master Yan say, "Don't let my mother find out about Tong Feng."

Tong Feng could barely be considered Young Master Yan's cousin, or rather a relative from his mother's side, seemingly a child from his maternal grandfather's family or something like that.

Recently, this man had been using the Tong family name to accumulate a fortune in other provinces. Just a few days ago, Young Master Yan personally took Qin Xiu to sort out this man.

His mother rarely came home and Young Master Yan didn't want her to have to worry over such a trivial matter.

"Yes, Master, I understand." Qin Xiu wasn't serving Young Master Yan for the first day. He knew that despite some of the unorthodox methods Young Master Yan used which often exasperated his mother, he was fundamentally a dutiful son.

So, even though he was initially unwilling to get married, now that he chose Zhu Qianying, it seemed he was genuinely planning on settling down.

Of course, this was merely Qin Xiu's conclusion after observing for two days as an outsider.

As for his master's true thoughts, Qin Xiu admitted he didn't possess the means or ability to discern them completely.

As for Zhu Qianying, the same driver from the morning was to send her back.

As the car pulled out of the Yan family's grand garden, Zhu Qianying instructed the driver, "Brother, just drop me off at the World Trade Shopping City later. I need to buy some stuff."

The driver hesitated for a moment, "Miss Wu, I'm sorry but Uncle Hai instructed me to take you home."

"But I want to buy some things. You wouldn't expect me to go back home and then return back here, would you?" Zhu Qianying was speechless in the face of the driver's lack of flexibility.

The driver thought for a moment, "How about this, I'll accompany you to shop and after you're done, I'll take you home."
