Zhan Se nodded and spoke in a soothing tone, "I believe you." She then turned back to Director Li.
"Who was on duty last night? Were the dormitory doors closed?"
Director Li nodded, "I was on duty last night. It was raining heavily... I blew the lights-out whistle and closed the dormitory's main door before I slept in the duty room. Later, when all the shouting started in the dormitory, I ran over. The door was still closed, but, I noticed that the windows in the corridor seemed to be open... It's possible the wind blew them open!"
Windows? Open...
Either Li Xiaochen was just being paranoid.
Or someone really did come in, but for what purpose would they pretend to be Duan Ming just to scare people?
Everyone has a motive for their actions. If this was deliberate, what was the purpose?
After pondering for a moment, Zhan Se asked Li Xiaochen, "You didn't turn on the lights, and you said the hallway was pitch-black. How did you come to the conclusion that it was Duan Ming?"
