Gu Chen sat upright on the sofa, allowing Shen Xian to dab at his face sporadically with iodine, grimacing but bearing the occasional poke of pain without complaint.
Shen Xian seemed to be addicted to applying the medicine, not stopping until half a bag of iodine swabs was used up. Only then did she look at her work with satisfaction. In addition to the original wounds, Gu Chen's face was now almost entirely stained a dark brown by the iodine.
"Hmm, not bad, the skin seems better. So smooth!"
Shen Xian held Gu Chen's face in her hands and turned it left and right, examining it carefully.
"Are you done?" Gu Chen earnestly asked her.
"All done. When I get involved, I ensure the medicine does its job," Shen Xian boasted, patting her chest. She then tenderly stroked Gu Chen's hair and said, "Be good and don't fight anymore. Never hit the face; it doesn't look good when your face gets hurt."
"Okay!"
Gu Chen gently agreed, his smile sweet yet tinged with bitterness.
