Upon seeing the children dig out a box, Suizi's first reaction was that it might have been someone's buried pet cat or dog.
"Put it back quickly!" Suizi snatched the box and immediately returned it to the ground without giving it a thought.
In the heat of summer, she had no idea how long the box had been buried. If upon opening the box it was filled with maggots, it could traumatize the children.
"It doesn't seem like an animal. You keep the kids away." Yu Jingting directed his wife and kids back while he picked up a small branch from the ground to pry open the box.
Dragging a curious child with each hand, Suizi closed her eyes, not daring to look. But curiosity got the better of her, and she peeked with one eye open.
There was no strange smell, only something dark inside.
"A toy gun!" Luoluo reached out to grab the item in the box, but was stopped by Yu Jingting's hand.
"Don't touch, it's not a toy."
Startled, Suizi thought, could it be a real gun?
