Online, the footage of the mudslide was spreading like wildfire.
As the guests scrolled through their mobile phones, the horrifying images left them petrified.
"Mianmian, we're so lucky to have you," Liu Hui said gratefully to Mianmian. "Without you, our chances would have been slim."
Xu Weiwei also said, "Thank you, really thank you, it was terrifying. My son and I have so much to thank you for."
Mianmian listened to Liu Hui and Xu Weiwei's thanks but did not take credit for herself.
"You don't need to thank Mianmian. The disaster wasn't supposed to strike our village in the first place," Mianmian said, frowning slightly. "I don't know which bad person is behind this."
Liu Hui and Xu Weiwei exchanged glances, unsure how to respond to her remark.
They were mortals, after all, and did not understand these matters; all they knew was that a natural disaster was imminent, and Mianmian had helped them escape calamity. She was their savior.
