This dream lingered for a long time, reminding Lin Shu of many hazy memories from her childhood.
When she awoke, it was already dark. She looked at the man asleep by her side and felt a playful urge to tease him.
"Awake?" Fang Zhi sounded groggy, as though he had just woken up himself.
"Yes," Lin Shu said after a pause, fully regaining consciousness.
"Fang Zhi, I'd like to ask you a question. Answer honestly," Lin Shu said.
"Alright," Fang Zhi replied in a sleepy voice.
"Fang Zhi, do you remember our engagement when we were kids?" Lin Shu elbowed his side.
Fang Zhi's eyes snapped open, the whites still crisscrossed with red veins.
"Hmm," he grunted without speaking.
Fang Zhi was lying behind Lin Shu so she was unable to see his expression. She assumed he was half-awake and was just humoring her.
"Do you really remember?" Lin Shu asked again.
Fang Zhi sighed softly, then asked, "So what do you want to ask?"
