"Is she your child?" Lin Shu asked the elderly teacher.
The old teacher smiled, "Actually, she is my granddaughter."
Upon hearing that the child was the old teacher's granddaughter, Lin Shu and the others widened their eyes in surprise.
"How can you have a granddaughter at your age? We thought she was your child."
The old teacher waved his hands, smiled and said, "I am actually a local resident here, and marriage happens early around these parts. Similarly, my child married early, which yields me a granddaughter of this age."
"They all went to work in big cities, leaving me their young ones to look after. Besides my granddaughter, only my elderly mother is left and she's thankfully able to take care of herself. Otherwise, I would be always worried when teaching during the day. An elderly and a young one being left alone at home, the elderly being unable to move, would indeed be a great cause for concern."
The little girl glanced at them chatting and ran over, lifting her dress.
