Episode(55): Is this supposed to be a dragon?, The Sage was terrified!
SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(55)
Aside from himself, there were four other true servants that made even him look like he was nothing more than a child throwing a tantrum.
Even going at his max and releasing his full power his chance of victory was less than 20%.
If he dared to even show a hint of displeasure before those monstrosities, he would probably become nutrients for the soil by the next day.
Compared to him, they were the actual abominations!
Comparing the four heavenly demon kings?
Not even close.
Those heavenly kings that humans feared had to prostrate themselves so low that their foreheads scratched the ground.
And if they weren't satisfied then those heavenly kings would die without a grievance. How could they show grievance?
Weren't they worried their souls would be brought back and tortured for an eternity by those devils?
Before the four true servants who were so powerful that it would make one despair, the heavenly demons everyone placed on a high pedestal were mere spicy chicken in their eyes.
Nothing but a bunch of scrubs.
Even Sullivan could massacre the lot of them with a single wave of his hand.
They were in a completely different genre, a league no one could even imagine.
Just the fact that the other four weren't involved in the war meant that the human race was already lucky enough.
If even one of those monsters made a move, humanity would only be a historical memory that others could only read about in books.
Sullivan shook his head.
He knew that it was only because of 'that'. But still, it made him angered beyond death that his master had to play pawn in someone else's game.
If only they could solve 'that' problem!
They would instantly destroy the human race and the person that dared to use his master!
He looked skyward with a mixture of emotions and sighed.
At any rate, he had a role to play today so let him play it till the end.
He looked mockingly at the sage at the very next moment and spoke in a condescending tone.
[Is it that the human society is too peaceful these days or because her majesty has yet to officially make a move? Do you fools think you can even amount to even a sliver of her greatness? Ludicrous!]
He wanted to laugh.
Indeed, peace was the enemy of all experts no matter their level.
Just look at the sage.
Even though he had already lived for more than 700 years he wasn't becoming stronger but instead he became even more foolish and weak.
Even though the last demon war should have only happened a thousand years ago, even Sullivan as young as he was knew that the remnants of that war were terrifying enough to stand toe to toe with the heavenly demons.
Of course for him they were still spicy chickens!
Still!
This sage should have fought some of them before, and yet he still underestimated the strength of demons.
Nothing but a fool that didn't know his limits.
Sullivan's words pierced through the sage's chest like a dagger instantly causing serious damage.
[Kh...]
Dammit!
He really couldn't rebut what Sullivan said.
Having experienced fighting those remnants from the last demon vs human war he naturally knew how powerful they were.
Even in his heyday he could only exchange a few moves before he had to flee for his life.
If those guys were so terrifying and this demon was even more stronger, then just how monstrous was the demon king?
He couldn't. no. He really didn't want to imagine it at all!
If it was as he thought then did humanity even have a chance for survival at all?
Sullivan sneered.
He stretched out his hands and chuckled.
[Whatever, It matters not! Whether you all have brains infested by maggots, or you just overestimate your strength, even in her current state her majesty would never lose to the likes of you! If the demon king moves I am afraid you can only lay down in your coffins and ask for death!]
He laughed and stood not far from the sage.
His eyes were cold and it seemed like he was looking at a pitiful worm doing a useless struggle.
Indeed, this was the case. Why should an ant struggle so hard when its fate was bound to be stomped to death in the end?
Indeed, the sage was strong and throughout the ages his name as one of the oldest sages of humanity had reigned supreme.
He had endless prestige and his glory spread like wildfire!
However, time was indeed cruel.
As a human, he naturally couldn't escape the cycle of deterioration that followed.
It was a painful cycle that all humans had to face and even as a sage he couldn't escape it.
Even if he continued to live for a few thousand more years he would still grow weaker while the days passed by.
It could be said that he was lucky the war had erupted now.
If this had happened a few hundreds of years later he wouldn't even be able to block a sneeze from the other party.
He felt dejected.
He, a certified sage had to be looked down upon by a demon?
Where was his face? It was all gone!
Stomp!
At this moment, a nobleman wielding his great sword rushed out.
Since Sullivan was so focused on discussing tea with the sage then couldn't he take advantage of the situation and attack?
His thoughts were spectacular as a fighter. It showed that he knew how to use the field and the opponents mental state to his advantage.
Taking advantage of an opponent's carelessness was battling 101!
But how could Sullivan be caught by such a thing?
He had long discovered the moments of the noble.
The very moment the blade of the sword was swung at his head, he crouched under the attack.
The noble couldn't help but click his tongue. To think he actually failed the attack.
Dammit!
And he had such a great opportunity as well!
He could only blame himself for being too eager.
Nonetheless he didn't let it bother him too much and his hurriedly stabilized himself and swung again.
This time the sword cleaved down with as much force as the nobleman could muster.
As someone who had been to the battle field, he was confident in his strength and skills.
Even if he couldn't release powerful attacks like the hero, fighting a demon shouldn't pose much of an issue should it?
However Sullivan smirked.
He turned and just barely lifted his hand to meet the falling blade.
*Clang*
Sparks fluttered and the loud metallic collision was like the tolling of a bell through the hall on a Sunday morning.
The force scattered in waves but the person in question wasn't in the least affected by the shockwave.
Instead, Sullivan still wore a confident smirk on his face.
Sullivan hurriedly flashed his hand and the sword swerved to the right instantly changing trajectory.
What the hell!
The nobleman felt like yelling curses.
His sword was made of strong material but it seemed like it couldn't even break the cloth on the other party's hand.
What was more, he could clearly tell that those white gloves were merely ordinary gloves without any enhancements at all.
Just how strong was this demons skin?
No wonder it was so shameless!
But he couldn't retreat.
He had already advanced and his pride as a noble wouldn't allow him to run.
There was also another deterrence.
That was whether or not the demon before him would even allow him to run. Right, this demon was extremely cruel and bloodthirsty!
He had step forward for benefits and completely forgot this matter altogether!
If he dared to turn his back he might die before he took a single step!
No, that couldn't happen!
He had to fight with all his might!
Sullivan smiled eerily, this human's persistence was commendable and entertaining.
Kukuku, wouldn't they all just become corpses if he went all out?
But there was no fun in that!
He had to give them hope before plunging them into the depths of the deepest abyss of despair!
In response to his bravery, Sullivan started to defend more than often.
Before he would only dodge, however now he was defending with both hands swatting away the attacks like they were just annoying houseflies.
This, it instantly made everyone dumbfounded.
Every time the great sword met Sullivan's fist it would easily be parried and the noble had begun to be pushed back.
But what made it even more unbearable was the fact that Sullivan didn't even bother to attack.
It was like he was asking whether or not they were worthy of him even making a move.
The noble gritted his teeth.
He realized that there was a sizable gap in strength and there was no way he could actually find the other party's weakness.
Then, go all in!
He stomped down instantly activating all his mana and with a speed even faster than Renji's he generated streams of wind around his body. He had arrived before Sullivan in no time and swung his sword without a hint of hesitation.
His job was swordsman.
It was an extremely ordinary common offensive occupation, but after training for years and fighting on the battlefield he naturally picked up several skills.
Mana surged into the sword and it seemed to come to life as the energy surrounding the blade condensed into a sharp saber sharp enough to cut deep into a bolder with a single slash!
He thought, surely this was the curtain closer!
Couldn't this finish the demon?
At the same time he even fantasized about the future. After killing a demon that even the sage and hero couldn't handle wouldn't he be admired by all?
Hahaha!
But-
He had forgotten his place! Who was he to think that his attack was even stronger than the sage's?
Renji was one thing but the sage was called the strongest human sage for a reason.
His attack? What a joke!
It wasn't enough to make the cut at all!
Before the sword could even tear through flesh, it was stopped just halfway through its journey.
[I-Impossible!!]
The noble opened his eyes wide.
His body jerked back and he couldn't help but wonder if this was a real sword.
Did someone spray paint a wooden training sword and he mistook it for his own?
But that was impossible, he had used this weapon for ages and it was definitely his own.
Then, what the hell was this?
[How trifling]
Sullivan felt bored now.
With a single flick, the heavy great sword was parried easily and unable to even breakthrough his defenses at all.
How could this be anything but trifling?
In Sullivan's eyes time was moving slowly.
The noble still had a shocked expression and had yet to fall back completely.
Sullivan bent his waist slightly then folded his fist and struck out.
Boom!
A force that weighed several thousands struck the nobleman in his stomach and folded him the moment the fist landed.
The noble felt the pain in his stomach and felt like he wanted to die.
But Sullivan naturally had no mercy, he grabbed the noble man's collar and ruthlessly threw him to the side.
The noble man could only spin out of control before he crashed helplessly into a wall with a bang.
[[Dragon Chain Lightening! ]]
At the same time, the sage casted his high rank magic the moment Sullivan's attention had switched to someone else.
He didn't even wait and immediately circulated his magic to the very limit!
A powerful surge of energy exploded off the sage's body and Sullivan turned slightly with an intrigued expression.
However this expression didn't last long before it had quickly been replaced with a cold indifference.
The sage continued to focus on his magic.
Either way, could Sullivan make it to him before he blasted out his magic?
Yes, he actually could.
But Sullivan wasn't yet ready to show his true prowess.
He chuckled.
[Quite the high-level spell you got there sage!]
It wasn't praise at all.
It was a complete mockery for the sage and he could feel the disdain in Sullivan's tone as if asking if this was all he had.
However the Sage sneered.
This guy only knew how to act cool.
It didn't matter how strong you were, could you defend against high level magic without proper defensive measures?
Not a fat chance!
[Glad you know!]
Even if this attack didn't kill him it should severely wound him.
The sage was extremely confident in this fact.
On the other side, seeing the hope in his opponent's eyes, a chuckled escaped Sullivan's lips.
Ha-ha, hope!
Hope some more, that's the only time when true despair will reveal itself!
He took a step forward and a portion of power was released from his body.
As the dragon radiating sparks of lightning flew up and coiled in the air. The sage finally finished casting his magic and stretched his palm forward.
The power in this attack was so great that he had to support his wrist with his other hand just to keep steady.
Sparks of lightning danced around the dragons body and with a roar from the sage it charged forth.
Sullivan revealed a smile, however that smile was only filled with disdain.
[Is this supposed to be a dragon?]
He had faced dragons before and they were nothing like this imitation.
It was weak.
So weak that if he released a wisp of his true strength it would just vanish on the spot.
[Even for an imitation, this is more disappointing than I thought!]
He stepped forward again.
This time the mana circulating around him became more condensed and formed streaks of black light hovering around his body.
[If you wish to stop me, these paltry attacks won't even graze my suit![Dark Embrace–binding Chains]]
Instantly, a chain appeared from the air above him and shot out towards the dragon.
Its speed was so fast that it caught the lightning dragon before the latter could even arrive.
One had to know that the lightning dragon was already fast enough to be a blur even for experts.
And yet the chains caught up to it and wrapped around the dragon before it could even resist?
How terrifying!
The Sage was horrified.
