Episode(20): Boss Fight(6)
SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(20)
Nagisa at the same time stomped his foot to the ground while whirling his blade around and stabbing it straight at the wailing wolf's heart.
He wanted to end it before the wolf king could interrupt, but unlike before the wolf king didn't stay passive and immediately took action blocking the attack.
While clicking his tongue, Nagisa retreated before the attack landed. A boom resounded a moment later and the ground where Nagisa was had become a crater several meters wide.
The wolf boss didn't even stop when it realized that it missed and chased Nagisa with the intent to kill surging through the the air.
Its attack was filled with Magic power. Nagisa tried to deflect the attack but the moment the sword made contact with the claw a boom rang out.
!?
The next moment.
Nagisa was blown away several tens of meters into the forest. He only came to a stop after crashing into the trunk of a sturdy tree.
*cough*
He spat blood. Nagisa felt the severe injuries in his body but he ignored them all and was still in a state of shock.
What the hell was that?
Nagisa was sure that he had almost the same amount of strength in his attack as the wolf king had in his.
Then.....why?
Why was its attack all the more powerful? He wiped the blood from his mouth and stood up while thinking carefully.
At the other side of the forest, the wolf king and the wolf general were charging towards him at a tremendous speed.
Now that Nagisa suffered such great injuries it wanted to exploit the momentum it gained and didn't want to give Nagisa an ounce of breathing room.
The first to make a move was the wolf boss's last subordinate. It overtook the wolf boss with a mad dash and made a leap clearing the distance in a single leap.
Descending from the sky with all its weight it threw an attack with its claws.
Nagisa moved quickly to retreat and at the same time the attack landed.
Boom!*
The ground split apart spreading rubble and debris everywhere. Nagisa had to cover his face thanks to this but the next moment he felt a presence behind him.
The wolf boss appeared out of nowhere and opened its wolf mouth baring all its fangs at the same time. It wanted to rip Nagisa's neck out before mauling his flesh into an unrecognizable mush.
Sensing the immense killing intent, there was no way Nagisa would let it land its attack. He stomped his foot to the ground forcefully halting his retreat before he twisted his body and raised his elbow.
Bang!*
The wolf kings head was struck high under its chin. It felt its mind blur for a second and Nagisa used this moment to quickly turn before clenching his fist.
[Try this one out for size!!]
Concentrating all his mana into a single point, Nagisa didn't even hesitate as he threw out a strike.
Boom!*
The heavy fist collided, all the energy struck forth a heavy force causing the shockwave to ripple in the forest. Time froze for a moment and the blow was sure to send the wolf boss flying as it folded into a 'C" shape.
But, the wolf boss wasn't the only one that was blasted away. Nagisa had a dumbfounded look on his face as he felt an enormous force blasting him away like a tidal wave rushing out of a storm.
Cough...
Nagisa speechlessly spat blood with a dazed look on his face.
It happened again. This time however he was the only one that attacked. The wolf boss didn't do jacksh*t yet here he was suffering from severe injured again.
Nagisa shook his head and stood up while wiping away the blood. It didn't make sense no matter how he thought about it.
'I would have seen if it made any last minute attacks'
However it didn't nothing. It was only blasted away like an obedient little ragdoll.
So then what was this?
He already came to terms that there are abilities in this world and most of them defied common sense.
'Seems like this bastard also has one of those abilities'
However he didn't know what type of ability it was.
There had to be a concept and if so then there might be some flaw that he could take advantage of if he could understand the rules of its abilities. Nagisa looked at the wolf boss in the far distance as it also got up from the ground barely injured.
*****
Nagisa stretched lightly as he thought about the actions he should take.
Number one, try not to trigger the boss's ability. As to how it was triggered? He had a theory.
'Impact'
When an object collides with it, the ability automatically activates depending on the impact of the collision. As to how much force would be the triggered, he didn't know in the slightest.
But there was something he needed to take care of before he took on the boss's ability. So long as the wolf general kept interfering then it would give the wolf boss a chance to team up and he would have no choice but to strike hard.
But that would just result in being blasted away again so he needed to hurriedly get rid of the general.
'hm? Speaking of which…..'
The wolf general was gone. Nagisa could see and sense the wolf boss and everything within the forest range, however the wolf general had completely vanished off the radar.
He squinted his eyes and looked around warily.
Where did it…. go?
It was as if the wolf had never existed to begin with. It was the same as before, Nagisa never sensed its presence even though it was right before him. He wrote it off thinking it wasn't much of an issue but now it had become a huge issue.
It was like it wasn't here to begin with.
All of a sudden, Nagisa felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He hurriedly twisted his body and threw a punch into the empty air.
Boom!*
The sound of impact echoed as Nagisa's fist struck something. Looking closer, he could see that it was the wolf and he felt chills at this realization.
When did it reach behind me?!
The wolf glared with its one eye. Nagisa felt as if he needed to hurriedly kill this thing but before he could even make a move, it vanished again!
Again?
'F*ck it! How the hell does something just disappear like that that!?'
Nagisa felt like he was going crazy. He suddenly felt something behind him and turned quickly without even an ounce of hesitation as he slashed.
However the sound of flesh being torn entered his ears as he felt warm blood dripping down his back. A fresh pain instantly alerted his brain that he was injured.
Shit--just shit!
Panic spread in Nagisa's mind. Both the boss wolf and the invisible wolf were attacking him at once leaving him with no room to think properly at all.
He clashed with the wolf boss before creating distance but even then it still threw out several magic slash attacks in the air. Nagisa countered the slashes with his sword and tried to take a stance before a claw tore through his side.
He jumped back trying to evade but at that moment a fist sent him crashing into a sturdy tree.
The tree shook violent as Nagisa sat there and spat out a mouthful of blood. Holding his hand against his bruised abs, he grimaced.
Several of his ribs were broken and if not for reluctance backing him up with the quick recovery even his organs would have ruptured.
He once again silently thanked his ancestors for giving him such talented genes. If he didn't have this ability then god knows how his corpse would rot in this place.
He endured the pain and stood up quickly. The battle had yet to be over and he could feel an attack coming.
Nagisa sprang to his feet quickly and slashed out into empty air. The next moment, the wolf general appeared with a slightly deep slash on its chest.
It grunted but Nagisa smiled. He could feel his perception improving thanks to this battle and he was loving the feeling. Yet, before he could even rejoice the wolf boss bent its body forward on all fours like a normal wolf.
Yet, it didn't charge. Nagisa wondered what was happening but then he saw the wolf general jump away. At the next moment before he could even slash at it, the wolf boss's fur shot forward like arrows piercing the air fiercly.
Nagisa gaped in shock but reacted quickly rolling away. He thought it would be over with this however surprisingly, the next moment he noticed that only a few had stabbed into the ground where he was. The rest were still fiercely shooting straight at him.
He ran with all his might through the forest while being chased by the spikes, the wolf boss and the general.
Could the situation get any worse?
Nagisa cursed. He ran with all his might until his perception found a small cave underneath and inconspicuous hill in the forest. He hurriedly dove in and covered his tracks before hiding away.
He took a short breath when he realized that the two mutts didn't even realized that he had hidden away and were still running. The spikes were still following the traces of mana he left behind and the wolf boss and its general were both foolishly trailing behind it.
He sighed but then cursed at how strong it was.
Sure he said he wanted a life threatening exciting battle like this, however that guy was literally last boss level. Weapons don't even work on it not to mention its subordinate can literally vanish before Nagisa's eyes.
Yet, no matter whether he curse or not the situation didn't improve. He could only sigh again and calm his anxiety.
At any rate, now that he's fought with them he already knew what to look out for so he wouldn't make the same mistake again.
One, the boss's attack.
He still couldn't be sure of the concept and conditions surrounding its ability since it literally defied all logic he knew as an earthling.
Even if he hit it, he'd just be struck right back so the best thing to do would just be to avoid it and leave it for last. If he still couldn't come up with something by then, he'd just hide away again until he came up with a solid plan.
Secondly the other wolf.
It either had a stealth related ability or a teleportation skill. He knew it wasn't speed related because he could feel if it was moving faster than himself and the wolf wasn't. It was far slower than most of the other wolves however it could disappear and reappear at will.
Nagisa was sure it had to be related to stealth or teleportation. He was surer about stealth since it would likely cause more trouble if it could teleport but there could also be flaws making it unable to continuously teleport.
Either way Nagisa needed to find a way to deal with the wolf general before he cleaned up the boss.
Hm….
He looked at his white sword and thought. The general had poor defenses even with its amazing abilities. All he needed was a single sword slash and that would be the end.
A smile grew on his face as he drew out the ice katana.
[Fine, I've decided!]
All he needed to do was halt the general and stop it from interfering in the fight. The wolf boss would like try to stop Nagisa from killing it so he would just use the time the general was frozen to figure out a sure fire way to bypass the wolf boss's ability and begin his counter attack!
Fuu
He let out a breath before stepping out of the hidden cave. He lowered his stance and fell into a trance. It would take his all to gain the win for this fight.
Nagisa had to bring his all to the final half of this battle or else he might really be stuck in here forever. There was no way he'd want to be stuck in here with a bunch of dogs all the while
In the distance, the wolf boss and the general that were running with all their might felt his presence and turned around only to see the person they were chasing behind them.
They both hurriedly reacted and charged at him. The wolf boss called back his spikes and sent them directly at Nagisa.
On the other hand, Nagisa stood there unmoving while in his very own realm. He let go of everything, even the threat of the spikes and continued to immerse himself in the trance.
Everything round him ceased to exist and he stood there in a void by his lonesome. Constantly waiting. Waiting to find that feeling of discomfort that he felt from the general. Nothing else mattered aside from locating its presence.
Tap!*
It was like the rippling of water on a calm sea. As soon as Nagisa felt this feeling, the presence of the general that he couldn't sense up until now had finally showed itself!
He immediately opened his eyes and turned around!
Found it!
