Chapter 7 - Chapter 5

1 year B.C. late 5th moon

Brandon POV

Ever since I arrived I have looked upon the village and seen the ways to improve it, first I sent for wood to be collected, next with the already funtioning mine operations I have the stone mined be brought to the village by carriages pulled by cattle.

With the extra stone and clay from the bay I started showing the commonsfolk on how to build better housing, hearths and even proposed the idea of making a wall for defense.

Well that was 2 moons ago and now from the bay you could see many stone based huts, my cabin being the biggest functioning as a some what Lords Hall. There was also a starting foundation for a wall looking to be forming. It was no Lords castle but it was a start.

When I first arrived Beyond the Wall my first intention was to explore the land and recruit some freefolk, but now I plan on making HeardHome the first of many colonies of the Company, I have decided that once we travel to Essos we would be known as a company since I did not plan on making it known that there was a Northen bastard brother of a King running around Essos with such big numbers. I have yet decided what to name ourselves but wll plan to mention it on the next meeting.

Here he was seeing his fleet leave the bay for another trip to White Harbour, this time Edrick would be joining the trip to secure some more ships and sell the ore that had been mined, thats right over half a ton of gold and iron was to be sold at White Harbour.

It seemed that the veins found near HardHome had never been touched, this would become a great boon for them. The land of the True North was rich in resoursces but he knew he would never have the time to explore and benefit from them.

Some day he knew, people would learn of this achievement and be thankful for what it did for them and for the North.

Once the fleet was out of sight he thought upon the information Edrick provided, the population of HardHome had grown to 1,800 people since the last survey. Many of the new people being curious families and hunters from the Haunted Forest while some being people who chosed self excile from their previous clans. To him the most interesting was a Thenn couple, who after hearing about a thriving settlement decided to look for it.

He came to learn from his previous reading and from word of his people that the Thenn were the most advanced and organized of the FreeFolk. That while that the Thenn being widely known as cannibals and some people disliked them for that, not all practice it, do to living the farthest North, they tend to be more iscolated.

After welcoming Olaf and Asvil, he came to learn that they both had talents, Olaf was a master bronze smith and Asvil was a skilled farmer. Olaf had informed him about the way of living in the Valley of Thenn, being the northest most settlement of freefolk the valley was surrounded by thermal vents and bronze mines, these resources would provide the Thenn with a habital place to farm potatoes, turnips and other plants and to raise cattle. Olaf also mentioned how the Thenn incorporate runes into their armors and weapons.

With an idea in mind I offered Olaf the opportunity to become a master smith and that once we join the others and travel east he could learn to forge steel.

Olaf was speechless at the offer and thanked me with his loyalty. To Asvil I offered the idea of spreading her knowledge around the camp, stating that everyone would need to know the basics of farming once they arrive on the new land.

After learning that some of his people may have special talents or ideas he starting spreading word and encourage people to come to him.

With the coming end of the 5th moon I decided to send word south to White Harbour to start sending people to Hardhome to integrate them more with the rest of the company. I also decided to send word to gather maps of Essos and information on more secluded areas.
