"Huh?" I uttered, my brow furrowing in confusion.
"I've been speaking with you, sir," the doctor said, her tone gentle yet insistent.
"When did you arrive?" I asked, glancing around the room as if awakening from a trance.
"Only a couple minutes ago. You seemed a bit...distracted," she replied, her eyes studying me with concern.
"What were we discussing?" The words felt foreign on my tongue, as if I had been lost in my own thoughts.
"The matter of the lady - the feeling of death and souls surrounding her," the doctor explained, her voice lowering to a somber tone.
"And...did you find anything?" I pressed, my curiosity piqued despite my lingering disorientation.
