Chapter 13 - who ( John)

The doctor's expression appeared strange when I asked about Elenore's condition. Looking at me, the doctor replied, "She's okay."

'Who is this doctor? İ don't remember her?'

However, her response was accompanied by a sudden burst of anger as she retorted, "Are you sure doctor ? " I questioned. Is there something else going on with Elenore that the doctor isn't telling me? As I inquired about Elenore's condition, the doctor's expression took on a peculiar mix of surprise and confusion.

Meeting my gaze, the doctor hesitated before responding, "She is... I mean..." Her voice trailed off, and she seemed to be searching for the right words. I could sense her surprise and confusion, as if there might be something more to Elenore's situation that they were not revealing.

"She said her blood is poisoned," I exclaimed, feeling a momentary sense of relief that the doctor had finally provided an explanation. However, my relief quickly turned to shock as the doctor continued, "Her blood is a mixture of various poisons. I suppose, Every day, someone deliberately poisons her with different toxins." The weight of those words sank in, leaving me bewildered and wondering what this revelation could possibly mean for Elenore's well-being. The doctor's voice trembled as she continued, her words laden with a sense of dread, "Her blood is no longer blood. It has become something else, something tainted by darkness, so dark." The gravity of the situation weighed heavily upon her, and she added, "She did not die, but she must be dying and coming back. I cannot fathom why she hasn't succumbed to it. Every part of her bears needle scars."

As the doctor spoke, a chilling realization dawned upon me. Elenore's condition seemed to defy the boundaries of understanding and logic. Her blood, transformed into a malevolent force, held a sinister secret that eluded comprehension. The doctor's words painted a haunting picture of a relentless cycle of death and resurrection, leaving me with a profound sense of unease and an urgent need to uncover the truth behind Elenore's plight.

Confused and alarmed, I questioned the doctor, "What are you talking about? What does all of this even mean? How did you know she is dead and coming back." In response, the doctor hesitated for a moment before replying, "I need time to examine her closely. I'm sorry, sir, but I may need to resort to using dark magic to understand her condition."

My anger flared up at the mention of dark magic. "No, I cannot accept this, it's illegal" I protested vehemently. I couldn't fathom resorting to such forbidden practices, especially when it came to Elenore's well-being.

The doctor met my gaze, her expression filled with a mix of determination and concern. "Sir, her blood does not belong to this world. I don't understand her condition or why her blood is mingled with this black liquid. But I believe using dark magic might provide answers we need." Her words hung in the air, leaving me torn between the desire for answers and the fear of delving into the unknown.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm my thoughts. The doctor's words echoed in my mind, and despite my reservations, a spark of curiosity ignited within me. My concerns were overshadowed by the urgency of understanding Elenore's situation and finding a way to help her.

Reluctantly, I nodded to the doctor. "Fine ," I agreed, my voice a mixture of concern and determination. "If using dark magic is truly the only way to solve this mystery and save Elenore, then we need to proceed with caution. Keep this is a secret."

The doctor's eyes filled with gratitude as she recognized the weight of my decision. "Thank you for placing your trust in me," she expressed sincerely. "Rest assured, I will utilize all my knowledge and resources to uncover the truth and find a way to alleviate Elenore's suffering." With those words, the doctor turned and made their way back to Elenore's room, determined to delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding her condition.

As I stood there, contemplating the situation, I suddenly heard footsteps approaching from the left. I turned to find Tom, standing before me. His face bore a mixture of concern and frustration. "My Lord," he began, his voice filled with urgency, "we have searched the dinner area and her room, but we found nothing of significance."

A wave of disappointment washed over me as the realization of our fruitless search sank in. Despite the lack of tangible evidence or clues, I refused to waver in my determination to aid Elenore. " You should find , you will find " I declared firmly. "There must be something you have overlooked. You must continue searching."

In the midst of our conversation, I remembered the maid we had dispatched earlier. "What about the maid we sent?" I inquired, hoping she might have discovered something of importance.

Tom's expression shifted, and he replied, "Jennie is waiting for you in your room, my Lord."

" Jennie? The maid I send is Jennie?" I asked.

" Yes my Lord." Tom said.
