The supercenter was always busy much to a certain someone's rising agitation, yet despite that always being the case, Enaris continously insisted on coming to this one particular store. The two appeared in a routinely flash behind the large building. Using the walkway to make their way to the front entrance. It was an ordinary store located on the outskirts of their bustling city, despite the location its popularity was ridiculous or it may have something to due to the rising population issue. It didn't matter to Levi as he kept his head down and shoulders hunched but it was all for not as his companion's marvelous looks drew plenty of attention for the both of them. He tried not to grimace as he sided eyed her pretty smilling face, he couldn't for the life of him figure out why she was always so happy, then it occurred to him, maybe he was just a grouch! He frowned to himself.
Luckily for him not many people knew Enaris's face even if they had been together for nearly twenty years now she had only ever made public appearances with a mask to conceal her identity. A luxury Levi never had due to the nature of his abilities in the beginning. He tried not to think about the humiliation he had to bare back then and shuddered. He had never stopped having nightmares since that day, that year.
The pair spent the next two hours shopping without incident, buying mostly junk foods, if not for Enaris's presence the cart would only contain junk foods. 'I mean, it's not like it'll kill me.' Levi didn't dare to let this slip to Enaris though, preferring to keep his thoughts to himself. He huffed, following her around the store like a child following their parent. He should be able toavoid this by just going by himself but that would include driving or walking both or which were not liable options for himself. This was really a form of torture.
After making sure they had everything they needed for a good while they finished making their purchases by swiping a black card, through the self checkout, that technically belonged to Levi but was only ever used and held by Enaris. He didn't like keeping track of things and only kept a little cash around at a time, so he gave her full reign over his funds. After almost twenty years together coupled with his ability's effect on her, if he couldn't trust her then there was no one he could trust in this world or any other.
"Have a nice day!" The worker manding the area gave a warm smile as she waved them off.
The two were chatting good naturedly when the whole front of the store was slowly coated in shadows, growing faintly dimmer with each passing moment. It looked from the indide as if a storm had just rolled in. As they tried to leave they found the exit blocked by pesky gawkers hovering near the windows and glass doors. 'Just what was going on?' Levi felt a slight twing of curiosity but not enough to go out of his way to investigate.
"Master, should I make them disappear?" Enaris's way of address had changed which was never a good sign. She was a little pissed, a common occurrence when it came to people who got in Levi's way.
"No. Just take me home." His voice sounded a little exasperated.
"Mhmmmm." She said as she snaked an arm around his own and gripped the cart with the other. A bright flash enveloped them causing those nearby enough distress to turn away from the spectacle just to shriek in alarm.
Levi couldn't care less about the problems of others so of course he didn't really care to see what the disturbance at the store was. Could be some villain or a natural disaster but it was no skin off his back, or was it bones?
After returning and putting the groceries away they were ready to leave again. Levi threw off his coat and face mask and reached for his sunglasses intending to remove them as well, they weren't there. Three seconds pass while Levi glared at a smiling Enaris before he sighed, as long as nobody had noticed it was fine.
"Let's just get this over with, I have things to do." Like beating that level and eating more snacks.
"Don't be so down, this will be fun! There are new members who want to join. They are just waiting for your approval." She sounded genuinely excited. 'Great. More young degenerates in the world.' Thought a gloomy Levi.
The world morphed around the two as they appeared inside a large office with large open windowds. Levi moved to sit in the only chair in the room, it was quite big and very comfortable. He motioned for Enaris to get on with things so he could go home but she was distracted. Her slightly pinkish eyes were glued to something behind him. He spun around around to look out at the city through the giant wall of windows that expanded from the ceiling to the floor and his jaw dropped.
"I guess those damn gawkers actually had something worth gawking over, huh?" He couldn't help but let out a low chuckle after taking in the sight outside the windows.
"This is no time to be laughing." She chastised as she glared at the monstrosity outside their window., her cute face gaining a redden glow from anger.
"You're right. Should we go?" He inquired curiously, wanting another's opinion on the matter.
"That's up to you master. I will be by your side wether you go or not." If she was calling him master again then it probably needed some attention, besides if 'HE' was going to be there he couldn't miss the party. He couldn't wait to see that prick's face when they met again, it was one of the few things in life that brought him joy. He felt a slight tug on the corners of his mouth at the thought.
"Then let's go." Levi reached his hand out to take hers.
"Mhmm." A light flashed as she pulled a white mask from thin air and then they were gone.
