Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: New Blood

Several men are waiting outside of a room, nervousness, and anxiety apparent on their faces. One man, who looked to be in his late thirties, was staring intensely at the door, looking as though he was ready to rush in at a moment's notice. Another much older man in his seventies places a hand on the younger man's shoulder, both to calm him down and to prevent him from being rash and rushing in.

"Lowe, calm yourself, you aren't going to help Miria by getting ready to rush in." the older man said. "But it has been 2 hours since her labor has started!" the younger man Lowe exclaimed.

"Since when is giving birth ever easy? You aren't a medical expert, so all you can and should do is to wait and believe in her and those who are assisting her. I know this is hard because this is both you and her first child. So, if you don't want any mishap to happen, calm down and wait." the old man said with a sigh. Lowe understood and took a deep breath. If he did anything rash and impulsive and caused complications to the situation, he would never forgive himself.

The nervous and tense atmosphere persisted for another half an hour before the sound of a baby crying could be heard. At this moment, a young lady in a nurse's uniform came out of the room.

"Your Imperial Majesty, congratulations! Her Imperial Majesty has given birth to a healthy boy!" the nurse said with joy. Hearing this Lowe rushed into the room before anyone else did and looked at the bed within. Lying on the bed a woman in her mid-thirties, sweating and weak from childbirth. Beside her, a young female doctor was holding onto an infant crying with a smile. Lowe looked tenderly at the woman on the bed, releasing a sigh of relief.

"You have done well my love, it has been tough on you," Lowe said to Miria. Miria smiled weakly and reached her hand out to Lowe, holding his hand firmly for comfort. Lowe smiled reassuringly at her for a moment and turned to look at the infant carried by the doctor. The doctor understood his intention and gently passed the infant to him. Lowe held onto the infant gently, afraid that he would harm his newborn son in any way.

"This boy really looks a lot like his grandfather. Do you think we should name him after my father?" Lowe asked Miria after looking at the baby. Miria thought seriously and nodded her head, indicating her agreement.

"Then he will be called Gustav, Gustav Lindwurm. I hope you will grow up strong and healthy." Lowe said with a wide smile.

"Your Imperial Majesty, Her Imperial Majesty will need to rest now, and we will also need to follow up with caring for the baby." the doctor said. Lowe nodded and passed the baby gently to her. "Rest well for now my love. I will come to you again once you are better." Lowe said to Miria. Miria nodded and quietly fell asleep.

Lowe went out of the room and informed the man about the joyous event. The men were relieved and congratulated him. Lowe was smiling even wider, the main reason being that he was now a father.

Shortly thereafter, news spread throughout the empire on the birth of Gustav, which was met with the people offering their heartfelt congratulations to the Emperor and Empress. The people of the empire now look forward to a brighter future.
