"This can't be happening right now, after acting like a punk for weeks, he suddenly returned to the person I know and loved, no, no way, I need him to return to being a punk. The angrier I'm at him the better I'll feel in Moses's arms. He even apologized to Moses this morning, can you believe that? I mean seriously, What the hell?" Liah fumes as she paced back and forth in the spot where she and Jody had lunch each day.
"Well, that's certainly a one-eighty but on the other hand, it's not as if he was a bad boyfriend. He has his faults, yes but at times he was the example of a perfect boyfriend before all that Razor nonsense happened and you were the perfect girlfriend before you met Moses." Jody points out.
"Well the Razor nonsense did happen and I did meet Moses and my feelings for David are no longer what they were a few months ago, there's no going back for me Jody." Liah sighs heavily.
"So what do you plan on doing about David?" Jody asks. "I really don't know at this point. I mean at first, I was thinking that I could keep him on reserve until I knew how things were going to turn out between me and Moses but now that I've fallen for Moses, I don't see myself having a sexual relationship with David, like ever. I then thought that I could just keep him as a friend but I really don't see that happening either, this is so damn frustrating." Liah huffs.
"My feelings for Moses are powerful Jody and I'm not ready to give him up, I don't think I will ever be ready to give him up. I mean, I'm here at work and yet I can't stop thinking about him alone at home, all I ever seem to do is think about him, all day long. I can't even believe how badly I miss him right now." Liah sighs again
"Alright, alright, just take it one day at a time and see what happens, these things sometimes have a way of working themselves out. Now on the other hand I still can't believe that stud muffin is actually in your house and I really want to meet him so I think that instead of standing here chatting, we should work through our lunch break so that we can leave early, buy his phone and take it to him, how does that sound?" Jody asks grinning mischievously.
"We?" Liah asks raising her brow. "Yes damn it, we, do you know how long I've been waiting to meet this man? So, do we have a deal or what?" Jody asks eagerly. "Deal," Liah says with a wide smile.
A few hours later, Liah, Jody, and David all enter the house just in time to witness a tense standoff as Anthony tries to get his hands on Michael, and her mother and sister try to block him. "What is going on here?" Liah demands, walking towards them and standing between Michael and Anthony.
"Always running to his defense, huh?" David said with a snort. "I ask again, what's going on here?" "I'll tell you what's going on. I walk in here just in time to see Zoey coming out of the bathroom and a few seconds later this asshole steps out behind her and none of them can tell me what they were both doing in there." Anthony sneers.
Maybe if you'll just calm down and listen for a second we could actually get around to telling you." Zoey snaps angrily. "And with all due respect, no one is supposed to know that this man is in this house, so I suggest you lower your voice," Zoey says narrowing her eyes at her brother.
Michael who had both arms clasped behind his back, said nothing.
"Now, to be fair, Moses was...." "And what's with this Moses shit? His name is Michael." Anthony snaps cutting her off. "Well in this house he's Moses, so any way as I was saying, he was in there before me. I came home and needed to pee really badly, so I ran in there without checking because, come on, it's going to take more than a hot second to get used to this man being here." Zoey explains.
"And that's why he shouldn't have been from the very beginning." David points out. "Stay out of this." Anthony sneers at him. "Anyway, it wasn't until I was already seated and doing my business that I realized he was in there behind the curtain. So I told him to stay" put, finish my business, wash my hands, step out, and run right into my fire-breathing dragon of a brother over there." Zoey says glaring at Anthony.
"Then of course not knowing what had happened he began accusing Moses of all sorts of despicable things which isn't true. Moses is innocent, he did nothing wrong." Zoey states. "Innocent my ass." Anthony snorts. "If Zoey said nothing happened, then nothing happened." Liah snaps defensively.
"And again, I repeat, nothing happened," Zoey said firmly, she then walked over to Moses. "You're a guest in our home and I'm sorry for putting you in such an awkward position, I'll try my best to ensure that it doesn't happen again," Zoey said bowing slightly to him, to which he nodded.
"Wait, you'll ensure it doesn't happen again? When since do you talk like that Zoey?" David asks with a snort. "That's the way Moses speaks so, why not?" Zoey asks shrugging her shoulders before heading towards the kitchen, while Michael turns towards his room.
"Hey, um Moses? Hold on a second." Liah calls walking towards him and dragging a drooling Jody along with her. "Let's just put all this awkwardness behind us, okay, here I bought you your phone." She said holding out the bag to him. "Thank you." He said softly with a nod. "And I would like to introduce you to my best friend Jody." She said pushing Jody towards him.
"H...hi." Jody stuttered. "Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you." He said with a slow nod. "Wow, you're one gorgeous man." She whispers breathlessly. "And you're a beautiful woman." He nods again. "Oh..my....thank you." She laughed shyly, and Liah couldn't help narrowing her eyes at her best friend.
He was of a clearer complexion than Mr handsome over there and no one has ever complimented him in such a breathless tone before. Not even Liah, who has been his girl for years but here was she and Jody, fawning over this punk. What was it that made him so damn special? Was it the fact that he wasn't from this country? His hair? His accent? What? David wondered rolling his eyes.
As handsome as he was he still found it a difficult task getting girls' numbers but all this punk had to do was smile at them and they were ready to bare their souls to him without him even having to ask, as if he was all that, please. David snorts.
"Um Liah, if you're going to make it back to work on time, I think we should leave now," David says hoping that the disgust he was feeling towards their behavior wasn't showing. "Oh, you can drop Jody back at work, I won't be going back today." She says turning back to Michael. "And why is that? You missed yesterday Liah and now you want to miss the rest of today? Is that really wise?" David asks annoyed.
"Don't sweat it, man, I'll cover for her, so come on. When we saw you at the phone store you said that you were also on your lunch break, which I'm assuming is now over, so let's hit the road." Jody says hugging Liah before turning to Michael. "It was a pleasure meeting you." She says biting her lips. "Likewise," Michael replies with a nod.
Liah's inner voice was screaming 'Back off bitch!' he's all mine but she tried her best not to let it show. "Seriously Liah, your brother is here and your mother, Why is it necessary for you to miss work again?" David asks. "Drop it, David, my job, my choice." Liah snaps walking over to the sofa and sitting down.
"Are you okay with this?" David asks her mother as he goes to stand beside her. "I'm willing to let it slide for now, she can use the remaining two days of the week to make up the time. Oh, let me give you and Jody a slice of pudding before you go." She says walking towards the stove.
"Can I ask you something?" David asks as he drives Jody back to work. "Sure," Jody says biting into her pudding. "You just met that man, so what did you find so attractive about him?" "Wait, are you serious? The man is drop-dead-gorgeous! His eyes, as black as midnight, his deep sexy voice, and that face, oooh-la-la." Jody says dreamily.
"I've beautiful brown eyes, my voice is also deep and sexy, and my skin is clearer than his, so okay, I don't have long hair that blows in the wind but come on seriously, you ladies have never acted that way about me, I mean for God's sake Jody, you were drooling," David says in a jealous tone.
"Why are you comparing yourself to Michael?" She asks arching her brow. "Why? Because I'm losing my woman to him, that's why. I mean things were great between us before this Razor fiasco, then when she came back, everyone began telling me how tainted she was, even my family began pressuring me to leave her, so yeah, all that went to my head for a while and I began acting like a fool." He sighs heavily.
"But then I realized, that was my woman, the woman I've loved for longer than I can remember and I said, to hell with them, I am going to fight for my relationship because I love her and so with my tail between my legs I humbled myself and apologized, but she's so focused on this man that my apology went through one ear and out the other." He paused, took a deep breath then continued.
"I don't understand why she's so hell-bent on throwing away our relationship for this stranger. This stranger we know nothing about, hell not even he knows what kind of person he is. what's worse, I can't compete with him, with Razor on his side he gets the upper hand at all times. So where does that leave me, Jody? Could you at least talk to her for me and ask her not to give up on us?" He pleads.
"Me?" "Yeah, I know for a fact that she will listen to you. I need your help to get my woman back in my arms and away from that man Jody, please." He asks his fingers tightening on the steering wheel. "I let everyone get in my head and I push her away and I'm paying for that now, I just hope it's not too late to get her back. Please just try talking to her for me, please." "Alright, I'll see what I can do." Jody says without looking at him. "Thanks, let me know how it goes, okay." "Okay." she says stepping from the car.
