Ch 3: Unexpected visit from supernatural
With a primal roar, Maximus and his allies lunged towards us, their movements swift and coordinated. Yudak and I sprang into action, meeting their onslaught head-on.
I ducked under a swinging fist and countered with a quick jab, while Yudak engaged another assailant with precise strikes and well-timed blocks. The sounds of grunts and clashes filled the air as our adversaries pressed their attack, their intent clear: to overpower us by sheer force.
Despite their numbers, we fought withdetermination and skill, each blow delivered with calculated precision. Adrenaline surged through my veins as I dodged, weaved, and struck back, every movement fueled by the primal instinct to survive.
Maximus, the ringleader of the group, proved to be a formidable opponent, his strength and ferocity unmatched. But we refused to yield, pushing ourselves to the limit as we traded blows in a brutal dance of combat.
As the struggle raged on, I could feel fatigue creeping into my muscles, my breath coming in ragged gasps. But with Yudak by my side, I found renewed strength and resolve, drawing upon our unbreakable bond to keep fighting, to keep pushing forward, no matter the odds.
With each strike, each parry, we gained ground, slowly but surely gaining the upper hand against our adversaries. And as the dust settled and the echoes of battle faded, we stood victorious, battered but unbowed, our spirits unbroken in the face of adversity.
As we caught our breath, I exchanged a knowing glance with Yudak, a silent acknowledgment of our shared triumph.
After the fight suddenly a laughter reverberated through the shadowy alleyway as the figure emerged from the darkness, clapping slowly with mock appreciation for our battle prowess. Yudak's anger flared at the intrusion, his voice cutting through the tension as he demanded to know the identity of our unexpected visitor.
But before the figure could respond, a sudden burst of flames erupted from their outstretched hand, hurtling towards us with alarming speed. Yudak and I instinctively braced ourselves, but to our astonishment, the flames bypassed us entirely, striking Maximus and his allies instead.
The air filled with the agonized screamsof our adversaries as they writhed in pain, the flames consuming them with merciless intensity. Shocked and bewildered, Yudak and I watched in stunned silence as the mysterious figure unleashed their fiery assault.
As the flames subsided and the screams faded into the night, the figure stepped forward, their features illuminated by the dying embers. With a calm demeanor, they regarded us with piercing eyes, their lips curled into a sardonic smile.
"Quite the spectacle, wouldn't you agree?" they remarked, their voice carrying an air of amusement. "Now then, before we proceed, allow me to introduce myself."
"I am Belphagor and you both are going to die."
Suddenly some more men from all over us surrounded us I knew something was wrong and this guy was bad news so I grabbed yudak's hand and started running through the single opening I got and we saw that fire balls were thrown at us from behind.
As we fled from Belphagor and his menacing horde, fear gnawed at my insides like a ravenous beast. Yudak's grip tightened around my hand, his expression mirroring my own dread as we raced through the narrow alleyways, desperate to escape our pursuers.
The air crackled with malevolence as fireballs rained down upon us, forcing us to dodge and weave through the onslaught. Belphagor's chilling command echoed in my ears, a stark reminder of the danger that pursued us at every turn.
"DON'T LET YOUR FOOD RUN AWAY," his voice taunted, filled with sadistic glee.
With adrenaline coursing through our veins, we ducked into a small alcove, seeking refuge from the chaos that engulfed us. But our respite was short-lived, as a sinister voice whispered in the darkness, chilling me to the bone.
"You can run, but you can't hide," it hissed, sending a shiver down my spine.
Before we could react, monstrous creatures descended upon us, their forms twisted and grotesque. With feral snarls, they tore through our hiding place, shredding it to splinters as they closed in on us with predatory intent.
Panic surged within me as I faced the nightmarish creatures, their eyes gleaming with hunger and malice.
Suddenly the monster came near us at a speed that I can barely see and swatted away yudak and punched me sending us both flying away.
Suddenly the monster came near us at a speed that I can barely see and swatted away yudak and punched me sending us both flying away.
The impact sent shockwaves of agony coursing through my body as I collided with the unforgiving wall, my senses reeling from the sheer force of the blow. Blood filled my mouth, a metallic taste mingling with the acrid stench of fear that hung heavy in the air.
Yudak, too, was thrown aside like a ragdoll by the monstrous creature, his body sprawling limply across the ground. My heart clenched in terror at the sight of his motionless form, a surge of anguish flooding my veins as I struggled to regain my footing.
The creature loomed over us, its monstrous form casting a menacing shadow in the dim light of the alleyway. With a guttural roar, it raised its massive fists, its eyes burning with a primal hunger that sent a chill down my spine.
Desperation clawed at my chest as I fought to push through the pain, to find the strength to stand against this formidable foe. But as the creature advanced towards us, its snarling visage contorted into a twisted grin of satisfaction, I knew that our chances of survival were dwindling by the second.
Belphagor's laughter echoed through the alleyway, sending shivers down my spine as I stared at him with a mixture of anger and fear. His words cut through the air like a knife, each syllable dripping with malice and cruelty.
"Why...?" I choked out, my voice trembling with emotion. "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOU. I DON'T EVE KNOW YOUR SO WHY.....!?" Tears streamed down my face, mingling with the blood and dirt that stained my skin.
But Belphagor merely regarded me with a twisted smirk, his eyes gleaming with sadistic delight. "Hmm... You are a dying man, so let's tell you anyway," he sneered, his voice laced with venom. "We are demons."
Demons? As in demons from Christian religion?
Everyone knew what demons were; in some stories, they are said to be fallen angels from heaven, cast out for rebelling alongside Lucifer against their God, doomed to an eternity of torment and chaos.
While other story suggest they are creature of darkness born from Lilith.
As I stared at Belphagor in fear, his revelation sent a chill down my spine. "Demons?" I muttered, disbelief coloring my voice. "But why? What have we done to you?"
Belphagor's laughter echoed in response, mocking and cruel. "You humans are so entertaining," he sneered. "I love the look of desperation, panic, and fear."
My heart hammered in my chest as I glanced at Yudak, lying unconscious beside me. "Yudak, wake up," I pleaded, my voice trembling with fear and desperation. "Please, don't leave me alone in this nightmare."
But Yudak remained motionless, his stillness a stark reminder of our dire situation. Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized the gravity of our predicament.
Belphagor's laughter pierced the air once more as he prepared to unleash his fiery wrath upon us. "Catch them, my servants!" he commanded, his voice dripping with malice. "Don't let your food escape."
With nowhere to run and nowhere to hide, I lifted my gaze to the heavens and cried out for help. "Please, if there is any god out there, please hear my plea," I begged, my voice filled with desperation. "Save us from this darkness, from this endless torment."
But my plea fell on deaf ears, and a bitter sense of betrayal welled up within me, mingling with the terror that gripped my soul.
As I stared into the abyss of despair, a torrent of questions flooded my mind. "Why?" I whispered, the word escaping my lips like a prayer. "Why is it that gods are so unfair to us? We humans struggle for survival while gods enjoy their lives in heaven with joy. Why?"
But there was no answer, no solace to be found in the silence that enveloped me like a shroud. The heavens remained indifferent to my pleas, the gods aloof and distant in their celestial realm.
Tears streamed down my face as I grappled with the injustice of our plight. "Is this our fate?" I wondered aloud, the bitterness of betrayal staining my words. "To be mere playthings in the hands of gods, to suffer while they revel in their
"Is this your last-ditch effort?" Belphagor taunted, his voice dripping with disdain. "Begging gods to save you? How pathetic."
"Hope we meet again in hell," Belphagor taunted, his laughter echoing in the darkness like a sinister melody.
Then he launched his flames towards me,
As Belphagor hurled his flames towards me, time seemed to slow to a crawl. The searing heat bore down upon me like a tidal wave of fire, its blistering intensity threatening to consume me in an instant.
My heart pounded in my chest as I watched the flames draw closer, their fiery tongues reaching out with ravenous hunger. With every passing moment, the inferno grew larger, hotter, until it felt as though I stood on the precipice of oblivion itself.
A sense of resignation washed over me as I braced for the inevitable impact, knowing that there was nowhere left to run, no escape from the all-consuming flames.
I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the searing heat of Belphagor's flames. I shielded my eyes against the glare, unable to comprehend what was happening, until a voice rang out from the chaos.
"Not today," it declared, strong and cold, cutting through the din like a clarion call. And then, a mysterious figure emerged from the shadows, cloaked in darkness and wielding a scythe. The flames were extinguished, the searing heat dissipating into nothingness.
Suddenly Belphagor's cry of fear echoed through the chaos, I watched in astonishment as every beast and servant cowered before the enigmatic figure before us. His presence exuded an aura of dread, fear, and strength, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the battlefield.
"Why are you here?" Belphagor exclaimed, his voice tinged with disbelief and a hint of panic. "You are not supposed to be here!"
As Belphagor demanded an explanation for the figure's presence, the mysterious cloaked figure stepped forward, his voice low and commanding. "You are not in your territory," he stated with unwavering authority. "This place falls under the jurisdiction of Olympus. I am here to deal with intruders."
Belphagor's eyes widened in realization as the gravity of the situation sank in. "Olympus," he muttered, his voice tinged with fear. "But why now? Why interfere?"
Belphagor's eyes widened in realization as the gravity of the situation sank in. "Olympus," he muttered, his voice tinged with fear. "But why now? Why interfere?"
The figure's response was cold and unwavering. "I'm not obliged to answer you," he stated flatly, his expression devoid of emotion. "Prepare to be exterminated."
In those fleeting moments of chaos, Belphagor's chilling command echoed through the air, sending a wave of dread crashing over me. "Attack him! Hold him till I escape," he bellowed to his servants, his voice laced with desperation.
Before I could even blink, the monsters surged forward with terrifying speed, their malicious intent clear in their eyes as they closed in on us. "Die," they snarled in unison, their voices blending into a cacophony of darkness.
But in the blink of an eye, the tide of battle shifted. With a speed and precision that defied comprehension, the mysterious figure sprang into action. His movements were a blur as he cut through the monsters with effortless grace, each strike landing with deadly accuracy.
In the span of a heartbeat, the creatures fell before him, their forms dissolving into wisps of dark smoke as they crumbled to the ground. The air was thick with the scent of ash and sulfur, a grim testament to the violence that had just unfolded.
And then, as swiftly as it had begun, the chaos subsided, leaving only silence in its wake. I stood frozen in awe, my breath catching in my throat as I tried to process the whirlwind of events that had just transpired.
As I looked up, I saw the mysterious figure approaching, his demeanor calm and composed despite the chaos that had unfolded around us. In his hand, he held the severed head of Belphagor, itstwisted features frozen in a final expression of terror.
With a sense of finality, the figure let the head fall to the ground, where it began to dissolve into dark smoke, vanishing into the ether. And in that moment, I knew that the threat had been neutralized, and that I was safe once more.
As the figure stood before me, his presence imposing yet strangely comforting, I couldn't help but feel a surge of curiosity mingled with apprehension. "Who are you?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly with uncertainty.
The figure regarded me with an unreadable expression before finally speaking. "I am Thanatos," he replied simply, his voice carrying a weight of authority that left no room for doubt.
I felt a shiver run down my spine at the mention of his name, realizing the gravity of the situation. But before I could gather my thoughts to ask any further questions, Thanatos's words cut through the air like a blade.
"Shouldn't you be looking after your friend?" he said, his tone betraying no hint of emotion.
My heart skipped a beat as I remembered Yudak lying unconscious nearby, his life hanging in the balance. With a surge of panic, I rushed to his side, my hands trembling as I assessed his condition.
Yudak was pale and weak, his breathing shallow and labored. Blood stained his clothes, evidence of the grievous wounds he had sustained in the battle. Desperation clawed at my chest as I pleaded with him to hold on, to stay with me despite the darkness that threatened to consume him.
"No, Yudak, please don't leave me," I begged, my voice choked with emotion. "Stay here, buddy. Everything is going to be fine."
But even as I spoke the words, I knew that the situation was dire. Yudak's life hung in the balance, and time was running out. In a moment of desperation, I turned to Thanatos, my voice trembling with urgency.
"Lord Thanatos, please," I implored, my voice barely above a whisper. "Help me save my friend. I will do anything."
As I pleaded with Thanatos, the weight of his presence bore down upon me like a crushing wave. "Please, Lord Thanatos," I implored, my voice trembling with desperation. "You are a god. Please, save him."
But Thanatos remained unmoved, his expression inscrutable as he regarded me with a gaze that seemed to pierce straight through to my soul. And then, with a voice like the tolling of a funeral bell, he spoke.
"If you want to save your friend," he said, his tone grave and solemn, "you will have to come with me to the underworld. Are you willing to make that journey?"
The word "Underworld" reverberated through my mind like a thunderclap, sending a shiver down my spine. In that moment, the gravity of Thanatos's words hit me with the force of a hammer blow, filling me with a sense of dread unlike anything I had ever experienced.
The underworld... a realm of darkness and despair, where the souls of the dead languished for eternity. It was a place spoken of in hushed tones, a realm of nightmares and ancient legends.
I felt a cold knot of fear tighten in the pit of my stomach as I contemplated the prospect of journeying into such a place. The underworld was a realm of death, and to venture there was to risk everything, including my very soul.
But then, as I looked upon Yudak's pale and lifeless form, a surge of determination welled up within me. No matter the dangers that awaited me in the depths of the underworld, I would face them head-on if it meant saving my friend.
With a deep breath, I squared my shoulders and met Thanatos's gaze with a newfound resolve. "I will go with you," I said, my voice steady despite the fear that gripped me. "Lead the way."
