Chapter 15 - Yang Shi

The next morning, Su Mu was roused from her slumber by the sudden clamor emanating from outside. Blinking away sleep, the unfamiliar surroundings momentarily disoriented her. As reality set in, she remembered that she was not in the comfort of her own home but at her uncle's house.

Curiosity piqued, she rose from her bed and approached the door, drawn by the sounds and the commotion outside. when she came out, she saw a woman in her twenties engaged in conversation with Uncle Ye. From the tone and gestures, it seemed more like a scolding than a casual discussion.

She possessed a striking allure—her sleek black hair framed her face, and her attire accentuated her striking features. A snug black jacket and a tight white top emphasized her well-defined curves, leaving no room for doubt about her bold and assertive demeanor. A gracefully flowing blue skirt adorned her lower half, perfectly complementing the ensemble. Matching accessories—a necklace and earrings—added a touch of elegance to her overall appearance.

Observing the interaction with a blend of curiosity and surprise, Su Mu couldn't help but speculate, "Could she be the aunt Uncle Ye mentioned?"

Su Mu's arrival seemed to put a pause on the quarrel between the couple. Both Uncle Ye and the woman, who was previously engrossed in a spirited discussion, shifted their attention toward Su Mu. The atmosphere shifted, and the woman, now wearing a pleasant smile, gracefully approached Su Mu.

"Haa Mu'er, you're so beautiful," she exclaimed warmly. "I'm your uncle's wife Yang Shi. I'm not much older than you. So, dont call me aunt and make me look old, just call me Sister Shi."

Su Mu, still processing the unexpected encounter, reciprocated the smile and extended a polite greeting. "Hello, Sister Shi. It's nice to meet you. I didn't expect such a lively welcome this morning." The air seemed to lighten with the introduction, leaving Su Mu curious.

Sister Shi's chuckle resonated with a warmth that filled the air. "Life is full of surprises, Mu'er," she responded, her eyes twinkling with a mix of amusement and affection. "Your uncle and I just have our little discussions. It's nothing serious. I told him to look after you before I leave, but he took it as a chance to went off to have fun, drinking and gambling again."

Her words carried a light-hearted tone, and Su Mu couldn't help but join in the laughter. "Uncle Ye always did have a penchant for a good time," she remarked, her eyes glancing toward her uncle, who appeared somewhat sheepish under Sister Shi's playful gaze.

Sister Shi continued, "Well, Mu'er, now that you're here, we can make sure he behaves himself. I've heard a lot about you. Your father spoke highly of his talented daughter."

Su Mu, touched by the compliment and the warm reception, expressed her gratitude. "Thank you, Sister Shi. I'm eager to learn more about the family and, of course, assist in keeping Uncle Ye out of trouble." The trio shared a collective laugh, setting the tone for a day filled with unexpected connections and newfound relationships.

"It's fine; I've already warned him. He won't repeat it again. Isn't that right, honey?" Sister Shi interjected, her tone carrying a playful yet assertive note as she exchanged a knowing glance with Uncle Ye.

Uncle Ye, caught in the gaze of both women, surrendered to a sheepish grin. "Yes, yes, my dear. No more drinking and gambling without proper warnings," he conceded, his attempt at seriousness undermined by the twinkle in his eye.

Sister Shi chuckled, shaking her head in mock exasperation. "You see, Mu'er, dealing with this one requires a firm hand," she teased, earning another round of laughter from the trio.

"Well, Mu'er, get ready. We'll have breakfast and discuss the details of your college," Sister Shi announced, her tone shifting from playful to more focused as she turned her attention to the upcoming conversation.

Su Mu nodded in agreement, before she came out of her room still dressed in her pajamas. The casual attire inadvertently highlighted her well-proportioned figure, drawing a few additional glances from her uncle. Ye Fan, however, quickly regained his composure, redirecting his attention as the trio prepared to discuss the details of Su Mu's college plans over breakfast.

Su Mu didn't find it unusual either, merely excusing herself to get ready. Shortly after, she returned, now dressed, and joined them for a simple breakfast. Ye Fan was the first to speak, "Mu'er, your college starts on Monday. You still have five more days to prepare for it. I've already taken care of the admission process, but you still need to complete a few assignments before they assign you to different Tutors."

"Different tutors?" Su Mu inquired with a hint of doubt. Yang Shi, positioned beside her, chimed in, "Yes, the allocation of tutors is tied to the number of new students. Do you know how many students are admitted each year?" Ye Fan added, "Our Monster Academy welcomes more than 2,000 freshmen annually."

"Over two thousand people..." Su Mu was thoroughly taken aback, realizing the vastness of the student body.

"Yes, Monster Academy enrolls over 2,000 new students each year, and across four grades, there are approximately 8,000 to 9,000 students," Ye Fan continued. "Our faculty comprises over 2,000 teachers, including nearly 2,000 Tire 1-3 Spiritual Masters, over 300 Tire 4 Spiritual Masters, and more than 20 Tire 5 Spiritual Masters. As for those at Tire 6... there are four!"

"Excluding administrative, logistical, and management staff, the remaining teachers usually oversee 5 to 10 students, regardless of grade. Before the school year begins, Monster Academy conducts a 'pre-selection' assignment based on the strength and qualifications of the teachers. The higher the pre-selection rank, the higher the priority for the teacher to choose their students."

"So, what determines the pre-selection assignment at this time?" Su Mu asked, still harboring doubts.

Yang Shi interjected, "Of course, it's the talent assignment! But don't worry about your tutor; I've already spoken to my old teacher, and she agreed to take you as her student. Isn't it great? My teacher is a Tire 5 Spiritual Master, so in simple terms, you're already qualified in advance."
