'Did she and Azrael meet before? Is that why she was so open to speak with me that day?' Azrael also recalled Eirian insisting that it seemed like Lila and Azrael knew each other.
Well, Azrael as Zak knew Lila, so he thought that's what Eirian meant, but deep down, it did seem like Lila knew him, which explained her attitude towards him.
But then again, it was all assumptions at first considering the real Azrael was dead by the time Lila appeared in the novel.
