The phone started to ring.
When Lyra saw it was Chase on the phone, she immediately picked it up. She squelched her throat and said, "Hello!"
"Hello, Lyra!"
"Yes, Chase?"
Chase paused for a few seconds and asked in a deep voice, "Are you free tonight?"
Lyra's heart was racing with delight when she heard that. Chase hadn't asked her out for a long time. "Yes, I'm free!"
"Let's have dinner tonight!"
"Great! About what time?"
"I'll pick you up at eight o'clock! We're going to a Crystal Dinner. Remember to dress up."
"Sure. I'll see you tonight!"
"See you tonight!"
The phone hung up, and Lyra jumped for joy.
Amara happened to be back. Seeing her daughter so happy, she sneered and asked, "Why are you so happy?"
"Mom, Chase just called me and asked me to dinner at the Crystal Diner tonight! Mom, come and help me pick the right dress!"
