Ethan was pacing about in his office. He looked stressed. He had not planned on doing the fashion show yet. But his overzealous secretary had made the post already.
His door opened and Nicholas walked in with the secretary who looked scared.
"Here she is, boss," Nicholas said.
Ethan turned to look at the girl and she quickly looked down.
"Nicholas, please leave," Ethan said, still staring at the girl.
Nicholas knew Ethan wouldn't be able to express himself fully if he was there so he nodded and left the office, though he stood near the door just in case anything happened.
"Sir...I..I..I...had the post scheduled for next month, but I don't..." The secretary was trying to explain.
"I never said you could speak. Did I?" He yelled and the girl moved back, quite scared of him.
"N..n..no."
"How could you be so careless?" He asked.
"I'm sorry sir."
"The budget for the event hasn't even been approved yet and now it's holding next week. Who's this going to hold it? Me?" Ethan asked.
"But sir..."
"Zip it," Ethan said and moved closer to her.
She hastily moved back.
"I always knew women are all the same. I now know better, women are really dull and slow. You're a secretary. Don't you know your work? How can you afford to make such costly mistakes?" Ethan asked.
"I'm sorry boss, it's not going to happen again."
"Of course, it won't, because there's no next time. You're fired!"
The secretary's eyes widened and she immediately fell on her knees.
"Boss, please. I know what I did was very wrong and I take full responsibility, but this is my only source of living. Don't do this boss, please." She pleaded holding Ethan's pants tightly.
"Get your hands off me," Ethan said and shoved her off.
He returned to his seat with a calm look on his face like he had not just fired someone.
The secretary remained on the floor, wailing and crying to Ethan, but he ignored her.
Nicholas walked into this scene.
The secretary turned to him and started tugging at his pants too.
"Boss?" Nicholas said, trying to know what exactly was going on.
"She has been fired. I don't know what else she's waiting for.
Nicholas shook his head. He already saw this coming since he had first seen the social media post. So, he turned to the secretary.
"I'm sorry, but you should leave now." He said.
"And don't worry about your pay for this month, you will definitely get it," Ethan added.
"Thank you." The secretary muttered amidst tears.
"Alright, you should leave now. Don't be a nuisance to me and everyone else here." Ethan said coldly.
"Boss, this isn't the right time to do this. You need me. I've been here for a while and I already understand the system. Please don't do this." She pleaded.
This time, both Ethan and Nicholas ignored her.
When she realized she was only wasting her time, she reluctantly left.
"You didn't have to. It was just a silly mistake." Nicholas said.
"Yeah. Just a silly mistake yeah? You know how much money we have to spend to be able to meet up right?"
Nicholas sighed. He already had more information concerning the event.
"She already booked a hall and a cameraman. We can't cancel it."
"There will be a board meeting in three hours. Tell all the higher-ups about it." Ethan said and Nicholas nodded.
*************
Amber Rowland was happily chatting with Mrs George. They both sat on the sofa in Mrs George's luxurious mansion. One of the maids brought two glasses of juice for them.
"Thank you," Amber said to the maid with a smile and the maid bowed and left.
"I can't believe it, mother."
"Me too Amber. I was as surprised as you are. He footed all the bills and left extra for you." Mrs George said.
She was heavily made up and her thick lips were bright red.
"It means he's warming up to me," Amber said with a grin.
"Of course dear. Who wouldn't? You're such a sweet girl and you're pretty too." Mrs George praised.
"Thank you, mother."
"The wedding is going to be magnificent. The best in town. I'd invite every celebrity I know because why not? It's Ethan and Amber's wedding." Mrs George said and Amber chuckled.
"Can I wear a pink dress? I want my theme to be different. Like, totally different from other weddings."
"Of course you can. My son has the money and whatever the rich do is always right."
Amber smiled and arranged her hair properly.
"I can't wait, mother. I'm just so excited."
"Well, it might take a while because Ethan still has this weird dislike for women. But, he hasn't seen you. You are perfect for him. You both are a perfect match." Mrs George said.
"And, I cook well too. My husband gets to eat freshly cooked meals straight from the kitchen." Amber said and got up.
"And look, mother. I had a boob job and a butt lift. I even had a nose job too. Only a blind man would reject me. Because as soon as I was done with it, all the men were all over me. Even at the airport, they all wanted my contact. Even the pilot did, I told him I don't do pilots." Amber said proudly.
"Damn girl. Really?" Mrs George asked with an amused smile.
"Yes, mother. There were others too. There was actually a cute guy I saw. He was ready to give it all just to spend a night with me. Like, what the hell? A night? Did I look so cheap to him? He changed my opinion about cute guys at once."
"Except Ethan." Mrs George added.
"Of course. Except Ethan. He's different. I can't wait for us to finally be together. But, I will wait because it might take a while. I'll be patient." Amber said.
"The patient dog eats the fattest bone." Mrs George added and at that moment the doorbell rang.
"I think that's for me," Amber said.
"For you?" Mrs George asked.
"Yup, I'll be right back," Amber said and walked away.
Mrs George just stared at her with a smile.
"Funny girl."
