Chapter 12 - New House!

Kaen returned to his house and for the next two day, he only did aura training.

He found his strength insufficient and wanted to regain his past strength as soon as possible, however, he knew it would take years to do that.

After two days, Kaen called for a carriage and filled it with all the necessary stuff.

He then informed his mother about his decision to move to a house in the capital and how he had saved the count's son by mistake, though hiding the fact that he killed a troll for that.

His mother readily agreed and thanked the god for this fortunate incident that gained them a count's favor.

Kaen and His mother entered the carriage, leaving for the Count's mansion.

After 3-4 hours...

The carriage reached the Count's mansion where the Count was personally waiting for Kaen.

"Sir Kaen, Welcome!" Count greeted Adrian before turning towards his mother "And this beautiful lady must be your mother! If I didn't know it beforehand, I would've taken her as your elder sister, hahaha" Count Nadino complemented cheerfully.

It seems that the count has already done a background check on me.

Well, there shouldn't be any problem!

"Lord, I didn't expect you to welcome me yourself. You didn't have to make such an effort!" Kaen said politely with a smile.

Count waved his hand: "It's only natural for me to welcome my son's savior, isn't it?"

Kaen only nodded, maintaining his smile as he didn't know what to say in response.

Clap! Clap!

The count clapped as servants came out of the mansion to attend the count.

"Take sir Kaen's mother to the house that has been allotted to him. She can assess the house if it is to her liking!" Count Nadino ordered his servant as they soon got to work.

"Sir Kaen, let's go inside and talk. You'll be given your rewards in the mansion."

Kaen nodded as he followed the count inside the mansion.

In a large room, Kaen and the count sat face to face on white luxurious couch with a table in between them.

The captain and Count's son were also present in the room with a few guards.

Clap! Clap!

The count clapped as servants rushed into the room with the rewards in their hands.

They placed the rewards on the table and left.

The count showed the rewards one by one:

"Sir Kaen, these are the herbs you requested, they were delivered just yesterday. Is the amount enough?"

The count looked at Kaen for his answer.

Kaen nodded silently as the count moved on to the next item.

It was a piece of paper rolled and tied with a red ribbon.

"This is the recommendation letter for the Nexus academy. You can take the admission exam anytime you want with this"

Moving on, he presented another paper. This was the deed for the house that was allocated to Kaen.

"You have to sign here and the house will be yours! You can check the house first before signing!"

Kaen didn't care. He trusted the count enough to provide a good house for his son's savior, hence without any hesitation, he signed the paper.

"Lastly, the money you requested. There is a problem with that. I have invested most of my funds for the event that will be held in a week and I have called you inside to talk about that!" Count informed with a frown.

"Please speak without any hesitation, lord Nadino!" Kaen said politely.

The count nodded as he explained: "There is an event held in a week from now. In this event, rankers from my county and count Phillip's county will fight to determine their ranks. Outsiders can also challenge rankers for the rank they hold. If someone becomes a ranker, they are awarded an income every month according to their rank. I was wondering if you'd like to participate in the event..."

Hmm... A ranker... well it'll benefit me surely and I'm in need of money to atleast leave my mother without any worries.

Also, I can send all my income to my mother so that she can live free of worries.

As for the funds for my secret organization, that I can gather with my strength when I become strong enough!

Alright, I'll just fight the lowest ranking person and become a ranker, that'll surely not be big deal!

After careful contemplation, Kaen agreed to participate in the event.

"Lord, I'm interested in participating in the event!"

The count's eyes shined with delight upon hearing Kaen's words: "Great, then I'll meet you after a week. Till then, you can prepare for the event!"

Kaen nodded before taking his leave. He was guided by a butler to his house. It was just minutes away from the count's mansion. That put Kaen's heart at ease. Now, his mother would be safe even if he went away.

"Sir, this is the house," The butler stopped and pointed at a house in front.

Kaen's eyes widened as soon as he heard that.

"Isn't this house too big to be called a house?" Kaen expressed his awe at the grandeur of the house.

The intricate design and impeccable finishing were evident, and maids stood ready to welcome him inside.

Kaen went inside the house and found his mother looking around the house with an excited expression.

She soon noticed Kaen as she asked him awkwardly: "Kaen, isn't this house too big for just the two of us?"

Though Kaen also felt the same, however, he calmed his mother down and went in his room with all the rewards carried by the butler.

Leaving the rewards on the table, the butler left and Kaen called Demios out.

"What? Want to show me your new house?" Demios asked amusingly.

Kaen shook his head and replied: "No, I wanted to know how to use these herbs to make a medicine for my mother?"

Demios assessed the herbs and said: "Though these are low grade herbs, however, this is best you can get in this world. These should be enough to extend your mother's life by almost ten years. Now follow my guidance and create the medicine"

Kaen nodded in understanding before getting to work.
