Chapter 12 - cooperative challenge

*fear (active): If your int is atleast 4 times as high as the opponent he will come to fear you.*

I look at it a bit dissapointed. I do not care for this kind of power. I mean it is a nice addition, but the other powers I have are much better. Even if they are affected with fear they can still fight they might even fight better than before as they are now on edge. I then noticed that I had not gotten a target this night unlike that which was said in the rules.

I quickly run back out of the building and go back to my house before closing the door behind me. I than walk toards my couch and sit down wating for the time to tick by and the cooperative challenge to start. seconds go by before I fall asleep, a wild grin on my face, the smile of a person looking foreward to death. I know not if someone entered my room yesterday, but if they did they must have fled.

*The next day*

I woke up with the same cruel smile on my face as the one I had when I fell asleep. The smile would not fall away no matter how hard I tried. I just could not help myself, the death that was awaiting my future. I looked at the mirror in the left of my room, inpecting my facial features, which after coming to this place, had become a lot sharper and bruised. I took of my shirt with which I had fallen asleep in. I took a peak at my own, now well toned, muscles. The smile on my face became just a little bigger, as if my smile were to go any further my skin would start ripping and blood would start gushing out.

I walked away from the mirror and put on my shirt and armor again. I slowely strolled out of my house and looked around the empty plain and saw that there were now no longer 60 houses but only 50, it seemed that the population had decreased massively to only 50. The exact same amount as the amount of houses in the area. I walked toards the middle where everyone was gathered. I heared someone speak begging for a bit of food or some water. I looked around again and noticed that on the other side of this hill there was someone praying to their god. Praying for the gods strength, I could not make out which go it was that he was praying to.

I then shifted my attention back to the mass of people gathered in the middle and at the large clock which was counting down from 1 hour. We still had 1 hour before the cooperative challenges would start. I swept my own legs out from under myself and plopped down onto the soft green grass below. Every breath I took slightly alleviated my murderous feeling, and every puff that came out of my mouth had the effect of increasing my murderous feeling. So in the end though the flowers had a slightly soothing and calming feel, the feeling of murder did not decrease. I felt happy looking foreward to the death of my newly made comerade.

After thinking about these thoughts while sleeping I woke up. I looked around and saw that time had stopped and had been waiting on me to resume. I stood up, well I tried but I could not move during stopped time. I looked at the screen infront of me. It wanted me to choose one of the challenge ratings. I looked through and saw that the regius previously had indeed moved to a easier challenge rating, that of only 48. Now in its place at number 50 there was a small green dragon wyrmling. I decided that this time I would pick something more difficult than number 50 as the other challenger would probably choose somethign easier. I choose 60, with the creature; gigant. As I clicked on the gigant.

time resumed with me now laying in a different location. I stood up and streched my back and looked round. In the sky there was one of those screen, this one telling the challenge level of this dungeon.

*50*

So he had picked 40, man am I glad I picked 60. I then saw him on the other end of the plain we had spawned on. I ran toards him, crossing the immense distance in only 1 second. As I arrived infront of him I said: "Hello stranger it is good to meet you." I looked him up and down, he was clad in a type of old western robe, coloured in a form of beige. A hat on his head with a gun around his waist. I pulled my hand out of my pocket and put it out as if to give a hand shake. He seemed to also pull his hand out from his pocket to shake my hand but as soon as it came out of his pocket my hand went straight for the location of his hart and pierced through his chest. The palpitating heart in his chest glowing red in my vision. I tried to pull it out but failed. His hand grabbed my arm and he spoke in a soft but rough voice, "Let us not get to hasty there young lad." I looked at him pushing my knee up to his chin, as it hit, it felt as if I hit a stone wall that was more than 10 meters thick. I heard a crack come from my leg as I pulled it away also freeing myself from his grasp which was not as strong as I had expected considering the strength of his heart and chin.

I looked at the old man with a smile on my face and said in a tone which was at the same time apologetic as sneering: "I am sorry just wanted to test something. Playing with my food however was not a good idea.
