Chapter 2 - The athlete within

As time passed by and I sped through the hardships and awkward encounters with other students, a breath of relief was finally bestowed upon me by the upcoming physical education class. I had rarely experienced this in my middle school for the school was more focused on the students grades than their wellbeing and only a few selected "geniuses" were in the spotlight for the teachers. So very little was done as enjoyment making my middle school years a a depressing and awfully boring journey.

With the big change of middle school to high school and the improved teaching programs as well as the higher quality and quantity of resources, I had big expectations. I was soon to realize that even though this is an improvement from my previous school, it was still relatively bad according to school standards in that area and I was yet to realize that the school had an awful reputation. As the bell rang signifying the start of my very first physical education class in high school, I couldn't help but to feel a rush of excitement.

I sprung of my seat and rushed to the gym. As I entered the class I was met by a large hall with desks lining up like any class but with just much more space. A small room closed off contained many outdated equipment, four ropes lined up in the opposite side which I presumed we would be doing rope climbing. Maybe we would use the equipment in the storage room, or maybe we would be rope climbing as the equipment took much space or maybe we would be performing our exercise at the field?

As I thought about it and evaluated the possibilities, I took my seat while watching my fellow classmates dangerously swinging on ropes I waited for what seemed like half of the classes time. With a gentle swing of the entrance door, the students scattered into their individual seats. The teacher entered the silenced class and with a tired gaze, she looked around the class suspiciously for any culprits who unfortunately did not make it to their seat. She walked to her desk and begun explaining the rules of the exercise that will be done.
