Kachi has been avoiding Patrick ever since they played the stupid T/D game in ayra's Nana home ,she had been avoiding him previously even before the game but this time she always tried to increase the distance between them more . After knowing what it felt like to be in his arms she had been anxious and nervous around him and even when he tries to start up a conversation with her in class she would always ignore or pretend she wasn't the person being spoken to . For the life of hers she couldn't understand the boy species, coming in to the school as a new girl Patrick has been nothing but mean to her, he always made it a point of duty to taunt her on every school day and unexpectedly he saved her from a bad guy from the street and bam he changed into a totally new person, no matter how much she tried she couldn't wrap her head around his motives but she would stick to avoiding him till he tired of his little games.
Glancing around the customer's area she took a relieved breath on seeing he wasn't one of the customers because she wouldn't have a choice but to speak to him then .
She smiled thinly as the manager approached her "Hey kiddo I have cleared your schedule for the day, you can go on home now " .
Kachi stared at him in confusion " But I have not even started my shift yet and it's barely fifteen minutes I came in " .
" I know I know but look around there nothing here I can't handle so go on and head back home now before I change my mind " He ordered.
" Alright thank you so much sir " She mouthed taking her bag and rushing outside before he changed his mind, on getting outside the cold air hit her squarely. She was still reveling in her freedom for the day when someone whispered into her ears from the back " Gotcha "!!!.
She turned in haste and stood face to face with the last person she wanted to see , her heart turned over immediately but she put her hands on her chest to control it's erratic beating and frowned at him " Christ Patrick you scared me !!! " . She yelled in fury
" I'm truly sorry that wasn't my intention " .
Surprised at his instant apology she fought a losing battle within herself to hold on to her initial anger " What the heck are you doing here in front of my workplace? " She questioned with narrowed eyes .
" Uhm " Patrick thought about telling her the truth but decided against it, how could he tell her he couldn't stand being ignored by her? And even went as far as paying off her manger so he would let her go home early today so he would get to speak with her outside school environment coupled with the fact that it irritated him that she always had to work so hard . The truth wouldn't do, he would have to equivocate he thought his hands itching to remove a speck from her beautiful hair.
Kachi snapped her fingers across his face to bring him back to earth " Why are you not saying anything? " .
" Oh have you had dinner? You should eat more you look thin " He stated his eyes trailing her lean body.
Kachi's eyes widened at his words " First of all that's not the answer to my question , secondly I didn't tag you as a body shamer "
" No no you have got it wrong I would never do that beside your body is beautiful, it's just a harmless observation " .
Kachi told herself not to feel special because he said her body was beautiful he probably said the same to other girls but she still felt butterflies in her belly.
" C'mon I'm famished, let's go eat " He said.
" No!!! , I'm not going anywhere with you in fact I'm going home " She added emphatically.
" Why have you been avoiding me? " .
Kachi stopped dead in her tracks it was one thing to avoid him but it was another thing to be confronted with it and if she affirmed that she was indeed avoiding him what reasons would she give for doing so when she didn't even know the reason herself.
" Tsk I'm not avoiding you I just want to go home and rest plus I'm not obligated to have dinner with you " She said with a straight face.
" Have anyone ever told you are terrible at lying? " .
" I'm not lying " She cried.
" You can't even look me in the eyes while speaking " He muttered . He could give account of every situation she had avoided him but she looked embarrassed enough and didn't want her to turn another shade of red, stepping close to her he reached out and removed the speck from her hair and when he noticed she was holding her breath he quickly took a step back.
" Are you scared of me? "
" Noooooooo " She screamed in reply.
" Well that's a relief. I don't believe you haven't been avoiding me therefore prove it to me by having dinner with me " .
" I don't care what you believe Patrick , we're not close enough for us to have dinner together gosh you don't even like me "
'How wrong could she be? Is that what she thinks? that he didn't like? He had liked her right from the first day she had introduced herself in front of the class, why else had he been a jerk to her so she would at least notice his existence ?. '
" Sorry for disturbing you ,I know when I'm not wanted just needed a dinner buddy but obviously you can't stand my face, I will leave have a great day kachi " He muttered with a low register hoping his new plan would work and she would stop him from leaving.
Kachi sighed loudly 'what was wrong with her? Where was her strong will when she needed it? ' She had succeeded in getting rid of him but she couldn't bear to see him looking so sorry for himself and maybe she had been a little too harsh. " Patrick wait "
He faced her immediately on hearing her voice .
" I didn't mean to hurt you with my words " .
" I will be fine " .
" Alright let's go and eat I'm kinda famished " She consented rubbing her two hands together.
" I don't want you to come with me because you feel guilty, I want you to come with me because you really want to " He said trying to hold in his smile.
" I have to be home before 8pm are we going or not? " She asked dryly.
" Here wear my jacket I don't want you getting cold " He removed his black leather jacket and handed it to her.
" What will happen to you? Ain't you cold? "
" Nah I'm fine " Being with you makes me warm enough.
" Thank you " She muttered putting on his jacket and feeling his body heat warm her all over, swallowing hard she put her fingers in his outstretched ones. She followed him silently like a lamb being led to the slaughter house and she watched with open eyes her plans of avoiding him going haywire, it didn't help that over dinner he talked of her visiting him in his home and she found herself agreeing.
