"What?!" Eternity scoffed exaggeratedly. "No! Heavens, no."
She laughed nervously, avoiding eye contact with Olivia because Eternity knew that if she looked directly at her tutor, she might burst out crying.
But just like the teenage tutor said, she wasn't dumb. Olivia narrowed her eyes suspiciously, knowing fully well where this conversation was going. Still, even if she did, Olivia kept mum and allowed an awkward veil of silence to envelope them.
After a tense minute where neither of them tried to break the awkwardness between them, Olivia let out a heavy sigh. Eternity finally shifted her gaze to Olivia and raised an eyebrow.
"It's because of what I did, right?" Olivia asked, her tone a mixture of anxiety and defeat.
"What?" Eternity repeated, her green eyes wide with alarm.
"I broke our student-tutor relationship," she elaborated, even if she knew that Eternity was just feigning ignorance. "By admitting to you that I like you."
