Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

I looked at him with glistening eyes while collecting the card "Thank you, sir,"

"No problem, I always help people with talent. Can I have your number, I would love to share some important things with you"

I didn't think much about it before giving my number to him. I thanked him again and walked out.

Back in the main hall, I met up with Lucy and johnny.

Johnny was leaning against the wall while Lucy was being as bubbly as ever.

"Hey," I said from behind them.

Lucy turned and smiled at me. "Guess what?"

"What?"

Johnny scoffed. "She got herself a date with some golden boy"

I was stunned. "Well, that was quick"

Lucy flipped her hair. "The beauty did its work"

We laughed.

"So how did you and this so-called golden boy meet?" I asked folding my arms.

"Yay! Someone who finally asked" She looked at Johnny with angry eyes before turning back to me smiling. "We met in the library. Johnny had gone for a walk. His name is Jacob, he helped me find the book I was looking for, then we talked, exchanged numbers and he asked if we could see some other time and I agreed. He even had that British accent. Ah," She placed her hands on her chest, pulling off an infatuated look.

Lucy had a thing for guys with British or Russian accents. Johnny had a British accent but it seemed like Lucy only saw him as a friend.

We both laughed while Johnny rolled his eyes and adjusted his glasses acting nonchalant. His laid-back behavior would draw people in like a magnet.

I turned to Lucy who was looking at him with hooded eyes. Her gaze held a bit of regret. Or so I thought...I don't know psychology.

Nudging her shoulder, I asked what was wrong.

She shook her head. "Oh, nothing. I got some gossip"

And she diverted the topic making sure to prevent me from asking more, typical Lucy.

Johnny groaned and murmured something which we couldn't hear even though the hallway was a little silent.

"Come, let's take a walk, I can't wait to tell the story"

Even though Johnny looked a little reluctant he still followed. We headed upstairs.

I collected a lollipop from my pocket, unwrapped it, and placed it in my mouth.

"So as they say the story was like a Legend or a myth, something like that. I heard it from one of my classmates when I was talking to Jacob. One of the students said the golden girl is back in school"

"Who?" Johnny asked.

Lucy smirked. "Riley James. The mayor's daughter. She is the queen bee of RM, the bad girl. Some said she never really cared about her reputation, no matter how dark her aura is she was well respected and feared by many. Some say she wasn't just the mayor's daughter, that she might have some connections in the underworld. Calling her the golden girl was just to please her and prevent trouble. What they called her was the princess of darkness" Lucy said it in such a way that he sounded like she was telling an epic horror story.

"So you are saying she is Dracula and about to cone suck our blood?" Johnny said and I laughed.

Lucy pouted looking sad. "Do you always have to turn my stories into jokes"

We walked back to the main hallway.

I could not help but roll my eyes. "Lucy you are being overdramatic again. What you just told us has so many inputs from different students, it doesn't exactly sound reliable"

Lucy was about to say something when the hallway door opened.

A girl with short dark hair, red harsh lipstick, a pleated skirt that was higher than the regular knee-high boots, and a dark leather jacket. Two identical blondies followed.

Lucy gasped from beside me. "That's her, that's Riley James"

How cliché. I guess this is the part where I say time stopped. Maybe it did, some students stopped walking and stared, some gave way and others quickly scurried off like ants.

Johnny whistled. "She is hot"

Lucy slapped his arm. "Didn't you just have a major breakup?"

Johnny poked his tongue out at it.

The bickering wanted to begin but was stopped when the girl, Riley walked toward us.

She eyed me and scoffed., "You are standing in my way" Her voice came out as eloquent and calm, but the look in her eyes said otherwise.

I looked around me. "There is enough room to pass by me, I don't see why you have to walk by where I am standing"

"Are you trying to defile me? You don't want me to pass because you think you are so 'special'" She said in a sarcastic tone.

Does this girl have issues? "Excuse me? Listen, miss... I am not trying to act special or anything, why should I act special? Over what? Standing in a hallway with a lot of space? That's the only thing kindergartners would do"

Shit! Curse my smart mouth.

Riley was taken aback before she laughed. She looked at me like we had a feud whereas I haven't met him before. I heard that the Mayor had a daughter but I haven't seen her before, nor did I look her up because I never really cared. So how could we have a feud?

I didn't steal her lollipop.

"You...I suggest you...just let them pass miss, you don't want trouble" A student quickly said from beside me.

I sighed and moved aside. I can't help but feel glad that I don't attend RM. Their bullies seriously have serious mental issues.

She looked at me again with dark eyes and walked off. The blondies just flipped their hair, ignored us, and followed like the minions they were.

We were dumbfounded. We looked at each other confused.

Can someone hate a stranger?

"What was that?" Johnny asked

The other students who were there started talking.

"This is exactly what happened with Genevieve," Someone said.

"Who is Genevieve?" Lucy asked the student.

"She was the first-person Riley dealt with"

"And today no one knows where she or her family is right now"

"We all thought that she would be the last person that Riley would deal with, but who knew after she got back to school there would be another"

Hmm. What if she never really did anything? She looked like someone who just put up a harsh font. I feel like Riley was someone who would become nothing the moment the people surrounding her left her. We were just in high school with a long way to go. Surely things won't be the same in college. Bullies and their shortened mentality. Shame.

Different students who I hadn't even realized were in the hallway were just speaking and speaking. I was starting to feel a headache. This was becoming troublesome.

"I don't understand what you all are saying" I finally exploded.

Another student approached me and spoke.

"What we are all trying to say is; Riley has seen you as a threat, I don't know what for but she has. And whoever she has declared war with never makes it out in one piece"
