Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - The Nocturnal Abyss

In the aftermath of the unholy pact, the world shuddered, a mere prelude to the chaos that would ensue. It began subtly, an imperceptible tremor beneath the surface, echoing the disturbance in the fabric of reality.

Within the confines of the Police Department, the night unfolded with an air of normalcy, unaware of the impending descent into darkness. On the first floor, a new police officer named Nick sat at a round table, diligently watching surveillance cameras. The screen flickered with scenes from a crime that had unfolded just days ago—an office worker slain by a man presumably under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

"Hey, Chief," Nick called out as the door swung open. "I've been watching the cameras, but sadly, I couldn't find anything interesting."

The Chief sighed, acknowledging the futility of their efforts. "Okay, go get some sleep, Nick. It's nighttime, and we need you fresh for tomorrow. We've got an operation ahead, and we'll be scouring almost the entire city. You don't want to be tired for that."

As Nick reluctantly left the surveillance room, little did they know that the night held more than just the usual challenges of policing. Unbeknownst to them, the shadows had begun their macabre dance, and the tremors were but a whisper of the impending abyss.

60 Seconds before Abyss

The Police Department hummed with the routine tasks of the night. The Chief, recognizing the need for alertness, prepared a small cup of coffee for himself while he was on guard duty, watching surveillance cameras.

As the Chief sat, the room suddenly quivered. His gaze fixed on the chandelier above, feeling the tremors intensify. "Something's wrong," he muttered, grabbing a pistol from the table. He moved to the door, eyes scanning the building's surroundings. Just as the door creaked open, the lights went out, plunging the room into darkness.

With a flashlight in hand, the Chief cautiously made his way to the sleeping quarters. "Hey, Alex, Gio, Artyom, stand up and wake up others!" he shouted. Confusion lingered in the darkened rooms as everyone stirred.

"Why is it so dark?" Gio questioned.

"I don't know, but all the lights went out in one second. Take your weapons, guys," the Chief ordered.

Heading to the second roof, the Chief managed to restore power after a few tense minutes. As the lights flickered back to life, the team gathered around.

"Everyone's here except Mike," someone remarked.

"He's probably avoiding work again," another chuckled.

"Quiet," the Chief hushed them. "Team 1, check the third floor. Team 2, check outside. Team 3, stay here."

As the teams dispersed, a voice from the door broke the silence, "Open it! Open the door!" Team 3, unprepared for the sudden plea, jumped in fear.

"Who closed the door? Go and open it!" the Chief ordered. Artyom moved to open it but froze midway.

"What the hell are you waiting for? Open it!" the Chief urged.

"Hey, Chief, look at this," Artyom stuttered. The Chief joined him and saw a woman outside, her face burned, legs dark, and one arm transformed into a spiked appendage, the other with razor-sharp nails.

"Artyom, don't you dare scream, this also applies to you, Gio," the Chief warned in a low voice.

"Chief, what the hell is this? It's terrifying!" Artyom exclaimed.

"Everyone, get here!" the Chief yelled.

At that moment, the woman struck the door, shattering the glass. Artyom, acting on instinct, shot her in the heart, but to everyone's horror, she stood up.

At this moment, everyone rushed out from their rooms and witnessed Shef raising his gun, firing a single shot into the woman's head. The echoing gunshot reverberated through the room, prompting everyone to cover their ears.

"Shef!" The entire Team 3 shouted in unison. Simultaneously, a voice echoed from the stairs, emanating from Team 1. "Shef, we found Mike! He's dead!"

"What?" Team 3 inquired of Team 1. "Yes, and his body is distorted," Team 1 replied. Shef, at that moment, stood over the woman's now disintegrating body, turning into ashes.

"What the hell?" The room fell into a hushed silence as everyone watched the surreal scene unfold. When Shef eventually exited the building, chaos engulfed the surroundings. People were running in panic, and the stench of death filled the air, making it nearly impossible to breathe. At the foot of the stairs lay the lifeless body of one of Team 2's comrades.

"What the hell?" Shef muttered to himself while gazing at the red sky and the ominous black moon.

In shock, Shef rushed back to the building and urgently shouted, "Grab your weapons and get ready!"

Meanwhile, within the hospital, the walls were now painted a gruesome red with the blood of the night shift personnel. Their lifeless bodies were cruelly impaled on spikes along the corridor, creating a horrific tableau. The air hung heavy with the stench of death as the once-sterile corridors transformed into blood-soaked passages.

Lucas slowly opened his eyes, finding himself in the midst of a nightmarish scene. He touched his head, muttering with a feeble voice, "Where am I?" Attempting to stand up, he surveyed the corridor, only to be met with the horrifying sight of lifeless bodies strewn across the floor. Overwhelmed by shock, he crumpled to the ground, screaming in fear. In the eerie silence, he realized he was the sole survivor in this nightmarish hospital.
