Chapter 112 - Command

Indeed, the staff had signs of restlessness.

In the curved part of the staff, a huge gem began to emit a faint glow. This was an active glow, not a reflective one.

Jason believed that any object that recognized its master would be able to have a spiritual connection with them. Therefore, he felt that the owner of this staff might be nearby, even if not in the town, they would be in its vicinity. Moreover, he could judge that the owner of the staff was definitely not someone like Father Omar.

Because he could feel the enormous energy contained within the staff. This kind of energy could only be fully utilized when in the hands of its master, not like Father Omar, who was completely powerless even to break through his own spell formations.

Regardless, what Jason needed to do now was to wait. Wait in this town. He believed that the owner who was spiritually connected to this staff would definitely come to him. Probably because he had killed their servant.

If, as Omar, who claimed to be the servant, said, his master was a god, then this would open a whole new realm for Jason.

He had not ruled out the possibility of the existence of gods in this world. But in these past hundred years, he had never encountered one, which was what puzzled him. In the end, he even shattered his own illusions, believing that there were no gods in this world, only monsters and witches.

But now, he might encounter a so-called god.

This discovery stirred the heart of Jason, which had been calm for a long time. Yes, this was a good opportunity. If he could have contact with a god, maybe some clues about his own matters would emerge, instead of blindly groping around as he was now. Even if this god turned out to be an enemy, he wanted to test the waters.

As for how powerful the god was, Jason didn't want to speculate.

Western gods and Eastern gods differed in many ways, but they also had a lot in common. So he would quietly prepare himself, aiming for an unbeatable position.

After dinner, he didn't prepare to sleep with the two girls, but went out alone, not even taking the black cat with him. However, before leaving, he set up a large defensive formation in the room. He would never be careless when caution was needed.

"You guys stay here," Jason instructed before leaving.

"Can't I come with you?" Denise asked tentatively, "I am a witch, maybe I can help you!"

Jason just chuckled, "Witches inherently possess great powers, which is why witches can harness the power of dark magic. Ordinary people, even if they have a book of dark magic, cannot cast it, and this is why... your internal power hasn't been fully developed yet." He patted Denise on the shoulder and spoke to Sofia, who was looking at him worriedly, "I'll be fine, I know my limits. I'll also give you an answer."

Sofia shook her head, "The answer doesn't matter anymore, as long as you come back safely."

A soft breeze blew through the room, and Jason was no longer there. The window was not open, and he was nowhere to be seen.

"Meow—" The black cat jumped to the window and let out a soft meow, then whimpered and squatted down, refusing to leave the windowsill.

"You really do like Jason, don't you!" Denise sighed to Sofia.

"Why would you say that?" Sofia looked at Denise with uncertainty.

Denise pointed at her nose, smiling, "What used to concern you most? Your mysterious identity. What concerns you the most now? Jason's safety, that's the point. You'd rather not know the answer to your identity, as long as Jason is safe. Isn't this change a reflection of your heart?"

Sofia was speechless at Denise's words. Yes, the focus of her concern had changed. When had this change happened? Just now, or had it subtly taken place before?

Denise walked over, wrapping her arm around Sofia's waist and said, "Actually... if I were you, I wouldn't bother figuring out my own origins. Is origin really important? No, not at all. Look at me, even if I have parents, they don't want me. I have no idea where my mother is, Jason says she's a witch, but I really don't mind."

"Who cares who she is. And my father, he abandoned me outright. Didn't I survive on my own?" Denise hummed, "What does it matter if I'm alone? If I had someone who loves me, or if I loved someone, I wouldn't care about anything else..."

"So, do you have someone you love now?" Sofia suddenly asked.

Denise paused, then burst into laughter, "Yes, I do have someone I love. Do you know who? Even if I don't tell you, you should know, we've discussed this. Yes, it's Jason. I really like him, there's nothing to hide about that, even if you also like him."

Sofia gaped, stunned. She was somewhat confused, and it took her a while to say, "Then... why did you seem so happy when you said I liked Mr. Jason? Shouldn't you be angry? Because it's the same person."

"See, you finally admitted it, you really like Jason. There's nothing to hide about that. A man like him, there must be many who like him. Some like his unparalleled ability, some like his helpful nature, and of course, some want to take advantage of such a person..." Denise winked at Sofia.

Sofia asked, "What do you like about him?"

"I like him... because we are alike, he makes me feel less lonely." Denise gave Jason a completely different answer, "So... what about you?"

Sofia gave her a mischievous smile, "Me? No... Denise, I won't tell you the answer, because sometimes... some things are most enjoyable when kept to oneself, right?" As she spoke, she winked at Denise with a bit of smugness.

Sofia was still a lively girl at heart. She had always been cheerful, but recent events had left her weighed down with concern.

As the two girls chatted in the room, Jason had already appeared in the town. Walking alone down the bustling street, there were many tourists, and even at night, there were many vendors hawking their wares, and tourists strolling around to enjoy the night view of the town.

As Jason walked, he took in the atmosphere, trying to detect anything or anyone out of the ordinary. But he was somewhat disappointed. Although there were many people, none of them were the ones he was looking for.

Ahead was a bar. At night, the bar was crowded, mostly with tourists. Like a beacon, Jason felt something different about this bar, and the staff became increasingly restless.

The bar was filled with people, bathed in colorful lights and filled with lively music.

Jason's gaze fell on a corner where a person in a jacket was sitting, holding a glass of wine, his eyes fixed on something in front of him, as if nothing could disturb his focus. Jason followed his gaze, but found nothing unusual.

Jason walked over and sat directly across from him. A waiter came over, and Jason raised his hand, gesturing with his fingers, "Just a beer will do."

When the waiter left, the man glanced at Jason, "You're here!"

As if he had been waiting for Jason for a long time. Jason nodded, and the waiter brought the beer. Taking it, he took a sip and put it on the table, "I didn't expect to find you here."

"Let's get straight to the point, I don't like beating around the bush." The man spoke, his face unclear under the fluctuating lighting, appearing quite blurry yet unremarkable.

Jason shrugged and spread his hands in an uncaring gesture.

"You killed my man, I won't pursue that, but... hand over the girl to me." The man said indifferently, as if he was commanding Jason.
