The next morning, when Jason came downstairs, he saw Nina standing at the front desk. She was not wearing her uniform but rather a beautiful dress. Even in the autumn, she exposed her long legs and fair arms. When she saw Jason coming downstairs, she smiled at him, apparently taking this seriously.
"Isn't it a bit early for coffee?" Jason looked at her and blinked. "But... you look really beautiful."
"It's not too early at all. I just want a cup of coffee and some cookies. That's all I can have in the morning." It was obvious that this slightly chubby girl was lying, but Jason didn't mind.
"Of course, I'm not familiar with this place. Can you show me a good place?"
"Of course, I know this place very well." Nina turned away from the front desk and took his arm naturally, looking up at Jason with a smile. "Let's go. Do you have a car?"
Jason's car was parked on the side of the street with a parking ticket on it. He tore it off without even looking at it, crumpled it up, and threw it into the trash can. Opening the car door, he nodded at Nina. "Get in, my adorable girl."
The car made two turns and, under Nina's guidance, parked in a parking lot. After getting out of the car, the two of them walked towards a nearby café.
The café had just opened in the morning. After Jason and Nina went in, they were the only two customers. However, the waiters were already in position. When they arrived and found a seat, a handsome male waiter walked over. With his golden hair and blue eyes, he looked quite charming.
"Hey, Nina, nice to see you... Is this your new boyfriend?" The handsome guy glanced at Jason and winked at Nina, as if they were joking with each other.
"No, no, Jason is still in the trial period with me." Before Nina could speak, Jason spoke up. "A girl as beautiful as her can't just have anyone as her boyfriend, right?" He directed the question at the waiter.
"Oh, shut up, Jason." Nina couldn't help but laugh and scold him. She looked at the young man and said, "Royce, don't listen to him. If he were my boyfriend, I would kill him. He talks too much."
The waiter named Royce smiled at her and said, "A cup of coffee with two spoons of milk, and... matcha-flavored cookies? That's what you like, Jason. And what would the gentleman like?" He looked at Jason with a smirk.
"The same thing. What Nina likes, I like too." Jason nodded at him. "You probably didn't sleep well last night, Royce... right? And... in another day, you will feel dizzy and have a floating sensation, like you're not coming back down. But I can assure you that even a good doctor may not be able to find out what's wrong with you."
Royce looked at Jason, then at Nina, shrugged, and smiled. "Hey, Nina, your friend is quite funny. I guess... it must be because of Nina that you feel this way." He chuckled and left, leaving Nina staring at him in disbelief.
"I can't believe you said that to him the first time you met. You're daring." Nina said with some dissatisfaction. "He's a good guy, popular here, and he's also a student at the University of California."
Jason shook his head, not bothering to defend himself.
Royce came back and brought the things they had ordered. After telling them to enjoy, he winked at Nina and whispered in her ear, "Although he talks a lot, he looks pretty good, and I can even feel his well-developed pectoral muscles. You'll be satisfied, for sure."
Nina blushed and quietly raised her middle finger at him.
"Your friends are nice. I quite like Jason." Jason picked up his coffee cup and took a sip, saying to Nina, "But he must be in a relationship, right? Is his girlfriend sexy?"
"Of course, she's very beautiful. Even as a woman, I feel jealous. But even so, you can't be jealous—" Nina said. "Why don't we talk about ourselves? Is this considered a date?"
"If you consider it a date, then it's a date!" Jason winked at Nina. "But... you're definitely someone that many people want to date. I'm just one of many."
"You really know how to talk. Do all men sound as smooth as you?" Nina laughed and glanced at Royce. "But... his girlfriend is really beautiful. Even as a woman, aside from being jealous, there's also admiration. If I were a lace border, I would fall in love with her too."
Jason shrugged. "I really want to meet the beautiful woman you're talking about."
"You will, because she often comes to the shop to see Royce. I can only say that this guy got lucky. It's rare to have such a beautiful girl like him, but he's kind, and that's enough. He's worthy of the girl's affection." Nina said with some emotion. "But he's not my type."
The two of them sat for a while, and Nina whispered to Jason, "Today is Saturday, and I guess that girl will definitely come. It's the same every weekend. In ten minutes, you'll see the beautiful girl I mentioned. I guarantee it. She's very punctual."
Jason nodded and glanced at Royce beside them, who was still working diligently. He really was a good young man, meticulous and focused.
After finishing a cup of coffee, Jason waved at Royce and said, "Hey, Royce, get me another cup. Nina—" He turned to look at Nina. Nina nodded, "Refill two cups and two more matcha-flavored cookies, please."
"Sure—" Royce nodded, then came over to refill their cups, smiling at Jason and Nina, "This is the first time you've brought a boyfriend here, so I'm treating you guys to this round. Cookies are on me too—" He winked and signaled towards Nina while speaking.
Jason thought to himself that this indeed was a very decent young man.
After about ten minutes, the café door swung open. From the corner of his eye, Jason saw Royce's face light up in a smile. The few other patrons in the café also turned around in surprise, their faces breaking into lively grins.
This was the effect a beautiful girl had when she walked through the door. Her beauty radiated and brightened up the room instantly. Even Nina, who was a woman herself, couldn't help but sigh in admiration. The girl who entered was indeed beautiful, so beautiful that one could only marvel at her beauty, unable to harbor any feelings of jealousy. Especially her large emerald eyes, they pulled you in with their charm.
"Hey, Cathy—" Royce was the first one to walk over, gently wrapping his arm around her waist, his face beaming, "Sweetheart, I'm so happy to see you."
"I feel the same, is there anything I can help you with?" The girl called Cathy looked up at the young man before her, her face brimming with happiness, "I'm all ready."
"No, you just sit. I prepared your favorite milk tea and cookies. I baked them myself, you love the flavor." Royce led the girl to a table next to Jason, and before she could sit down, he introduced Jason to her.
Jason shook her hand gently. Her skin was soft and cool to touch.
"Nice to meet you!" Jason smiled and then let go of her hand.
"You're Royce's friend? I haven't seen you before." Cathy smiled at Jason.
"To be precise, I'm Nina's friend, so now I'm Royce's friend too. You are very beautiful!" Jason replied and then stood up, one hand resting on Royce's shoulder as they walked towards the bar counter, "I'll pay the bill, you and Nina can continue your chat."
With some reluctance, Royce followed Jason to the bar. After Jason paid the bill, he reached into his pocket and handed a small round mirror to Royce, "Alright, buddy, I owe you two coffees and two cookies. This is for you. Take a look at your girlfriend through this mirror, you'll be pleasantly surprised. You're a good guy!"
