Chapter 62 - Healing

Night, Harold Town, Mr. Kote's house.

Jason stood up from Elizabeth's bedside and said to Sanna, "Her injuries are stable now, she will recover in a few days. If it itches again, give her this to eat. Itching indicates that her bones are starting to heal, so don't worry. I'm leaving, goodbye..." He left abruptly.

"Wait, Mr. Jason!" Elizabeth suddenly looked at Jason with a sideways glance, her voice weak, but she didn't speak, just looked at him. Her eyes were filled with longing.

Jason shook his head and said, "Forget about that person, he's just using you." After saying that, he left without looking back. He had already extended a helping hand to Elizabeth, and if she couldn't find her own way out, that was her fate.

As he walked through the town, he suddenly felt a movement in his heart. With a flip of his palm, he flicked his finger in the direction of Laredo City, and a shimmering light shot out from his palm.

The moonlight tonight was unusually thick, like there was actually water. Ordinary people might not feel this change, but Jason could sense it.

There was only one reason for such a change - there were anomalies in the heavens, indicating the presence of monsters.

The only possibility to trigger such anomalies was the half-human, half-snake creature that escaped last time, which might have encountered some problems, or even progressed further and become more powerful. Only by becoming more powerful could it cause such anomalies. It might have even transformed into a fully human form.

The only possible cause for this result was the vampire family, the Gustin family in Laredo City.

The more supernatural beings they consumed, the stronger the Lamia would become.

With this thought in mind, he followed his intuition, flicked his finger, and the Sword of Heavenly Escape flew quickly toward Laredo City.

A shimmering light, like a flash of lightning, disappeared into the sky. After it passed, Harold Town returned to its usual tranquility. The moonlight in the night sky still appeared thick like water, but Jason no longer cared about these things. He released his flying sword and swiftly vanished into the night following its direction, like a wisp of smoke.

The peaceful night in Harold Town was different from the hustle and bustle of Laredo City. The night in Laredo was dimly lit. But in front of a villa in the outskirts of Laredo, it was already a scene of devastation.

The man's expression was stiff, like dead skin, with some wrinkles. His chestnut hair was disheveled, but his eyes were a mesmerizing emerald green, radiating an enchanting light.

His voice sounded like the harsh noise of broken plates being stepped on. But even so, the woman had no choice but to watch as the man approached step by step.

"Damn it—" The woman turned over and struggled to sit up. She said to the monster, "Come on, come on, you monster. Even if you've turned into a human form, you're just a freak. Look at your appearance, your face is full of wrinkles. You're still just a monster..."

"I was never human to begin with." The man said expressionlessly, "But... you're about to die for real. Will you become a sculpture like him, or do you want to become my delicious meal?"

"Fuck—" The woman couldn't help but curse and looked at Hill Steven, who had turned into an ice statue beside her. She gritted her teeth and suddenly pulled out a dagger, aiming it at her own throat, about to stab it down.

The man chuckled, his voice sounding like shattered glass being crushed. Suddenly, his laughter stopped abruptly as a shimmering light flashed and flew towards the monster.

"Oops—" The monster cursed and swiftly dodged, narrowly avoiding the shimmering light that grazed his arm. Before he could react, the shimmering light flew back from the sky.

The monster screamed and turned around, fleeing into the forest like a flying shadow. As the shimmering light flashed by, chasing after it and disappearing into the woods, it immediately vanished.

Everything happened so quickly, and everything disappeared just as quickly.

The woman watched the shimmering light disappear into the forest, and when she was sure it wouldn't reappear, she collapsed on the grass, too exhausted to move. Her legs were in great pain. After thinking for a moment, she took out her phone, preparing to call an ambulance, but when she saw the current state of the villa, she couldn't help but sigh, shook her head, and put down her phone.

"Hill... Oh God, how did it come to this?" Tears streamed down the woman's face as she looked at Hill Steven, who had turned into an ice sculpture. The woman endured the severe pain, slowly positioning her leg into a more comfortable posture. She crawled a distance, found a stick, and forced herself to stand up. Slowly, she walked towards the frozen figure, sighed, and reached out to touch him. The bone-chilling cold made her shudder involuntarily.

"Hill — my God, I promised father I would take good care of you. What should I do?" As she spoke, she suddenly burst into tears, wanting to embrace the frozen statue before her.

"If you hug him, you'll end up just like him, I guarantee it," a sudden voice came from beside her. The suddenness of it startled her. She turned to see a young man standing not far away, his hands behind his back, watching her from afar.

A black-haired Asian man, wearing a jacket, his face expressionless. "Your leg is broken, which is serious. Also, you touched him earlier, your hand will start to lose sensation within a day. I think you understand what that means," he said looking at her.

"I know..." The woman watched him, "Who are you?"

"You can call me Mr. Jason, I came from Harold Town. Plus, I've met Mr. Hill Steven once," Jason said to the woman, "What's your relationship with Mr. Steven? Spouse? Or siblings? You look younger than him. He's like an antique."

"He's my younger brother!" The woman looked at Jason, her lips tightened, a glint of light flashed in her eyes, "It's you... was it you just now? I'm referring to the light that injured the monster... it was you..."

"Yes, it was me." Jason gazed at the moon in the sky. The moonlight was no longer thick and sticky but instead cold and clear, giving a comforting feeling. This subtle change, only Jason could perceive.

"You... you're very powerful!" The woman nodded at Jason, then looked at the frozen Hill Steven beside her, "My brother... is there any hope for him?"

Jason's admission that he had hurt the monster had ignited hope in her. Maybe this man could help. She looked at Jason with anticipation, "Please save him, Mr. Jason."

"Do you know what my impression of your brother is?" Instead of directly answering her, Jason continued speaking emotionlessly, "When he went to Harold Town, I warned him to stay away from my friend. He hurt my friend, do you know that?"

"No, no, even if he hurt your friend, I promise it wasn't intentional." The woman hurriedly defended, sensing from Jason's words that perhaps he could save Hill Steven. This was her only chance. "We were just trying to kill the monster."

"Just to kill the monster?" Jason shook his head, "That's not a good excuse to hurt a girl's heart. I know your family has the ability to distinguish and attract supernatural beings, but that's not an excuse for you to harm them."

"I'm sorry, I promise it won't happen again!" The woman quickly raised one hand to Jason, making a pledge, "I swear, we won't use this to hurt anyone."

Jason nodded, saying to the woman, "Take good care of Mr. Steven. If it weren't for your exorcist identity, I wouldn't be here." He then walked up to her, picked her up around her waist, and placed her on the step to sit down. He gently caressed her broken leg, drawing a symbol in the air. A flash of golden light appeared, and the symbol disappeared into the woman's leg.
