Chapter 60 - Hookup

Vampires are not afraid of the night; they are the emissaries of darkness. In the shroud of night, they can perceive things that are beyond human comprehension, including the horrifying sight of a corpse.

The mutilated body lay in the hall, its chest ripped open, bloody innards strewn all around. Thor and Robin held their breath, attuning themselves to every minute change in their surroundings. It was becoming increasingly clear; they felt nothing.

The feeling of losing control over the situation only intensified their anxiety. Thor's palms were sweaty. He had felt this way when Jason came last time, but the intensity of his fear had never been so palpable. Jason's aura wasn't deadly.

But today, it was different.

Tonight, the breath of death seemed to whisper in their ears, a shadow that followed them tirelessly. It was easy to crumble under such pressure. Any ordinary person would have collapsed by now.

"We're being watched. I can feel it..." Thor's breathing grew heavier, his composure waning. He lowered his voice and told Robin.

"I know. Don't speak. Just feel. You'll sense its presence!" Robin Gustin squinted, extending his visual range as far as he could, searching for any suspicious signs. But their opponent today was an expert hider, a horrifyingly brutal creature.

Thor fell silent. To be honest, his fear was quickly reaching an unbearable level, his sweaty palms leaving damp patches on the floor.

"Should we... stay outside or retreat to the basement?" Thor's voice trembled in the wind as he spoke.

"If we go to the basement, there will be no way out." Robin Gustin answered in a low voice, "Slowly, get the shotgun hanging from the closet, and the sword..." He gave Thor a slight push, "Remember, you must get that gun and sword."

Before Thor could reply, Robin Gustin suddenly charged out of the hall, and Thor dashed towards the closet in turn. What they needed now was speed. The vampires were quick, and while they couldn't match a werewolf's speed, their burst of speed was quite impressive.

With a dull thud, Robin Gustin, who had just reached the doorway, was hit by something and got flung into the air, landing heavily ten meters away.

Not caring about checking on his father, Thor had already grabbed the shotgun and the sword from the closet. He secured the sword to his waist, and, shotgun in hand, burst out of the door. The sight that greeted him outside halted him in his tracks. Fear surged through him, chilling him to the bone. It was unlike anything he had ever seen.

Robin Gustin was tightly coiled by a serpent-like creature. His mouth was wide open, tongue sticking out, and his fangs were visible in his open mouth, gleaming in the moonlight.

These were the fangs that people usually dreaded, the most lethal weapons, but now they served as a ludicrous testament to his impending death.

Before their eyes was a massive snake, not the half-human, half-snake creature Robin Gustin had described. Near the snake's head, there were two long and deep wounds.

The snake poised itself, raising its head high before swallowing a paralyzed and immobile Robin Gustin in one gulp. Its body bulged instantly.

"F**k -" Thor's eyes reddened as he watched his father get swallowed whole by the giant snake. His fear transformed into rage, and he fired two shots from the shotgun. The echoes shattered the tranquillity of the night, sending the birds in the trees fluttering away.

A Ferrari sports car skidded onto the street, parking by the roadside. A handsome young man stepped out, running to open the passenger door for a tall girl who got out of the car, her hand held by the boy.

"Thank you, handsome. You're the most considerate boy I've ever met." The girl wore a skirt that flaunted most of her long legs, making them appear incredibly sleek. She wore high boots, making her legs even more enticing.

"This is what a gentleman should do!" David Gustin smiled at the girl, "If you're not in a hurry, you're always welcome at my place. But... do you really have to leave tonight?"

"I don't want to... But do you have a large swimming pool at your place? I love swimming. If you do, maybe I can consider staying." The girl said cheerfully, her golden hair draped over her shoulders, her white face blushing coyly. She was indeed attractive.

"Of course, we could even hold a pool party. I'm sure you'll love our large pool. And... I bet you look incredible in a swimsuit. We have swimwear, bikinis - you'd look very sexy in them." David Gustin was quick to flatter.

"Alright then, let's check out your place!" The girl retracted the foot she had extended to leave, settling back into the passenger seat and batting her eyelashes at him, "What are you waiting for? I can't wait to try on your bikini!"

"Of course, I promise you'll be satisfied!" David Gustin snapped his fingers, turned the car around, hopped in, and roared off towards his villa.

Today was David Gustin's lucky day. In the bar, he had encountered a beautiful woman who, while refusing many flirtatious advances, didn't turn him down. The woman was a little reserved, but wasn't she now within his grasp? Truth be told, ever since Elizabeth rejected him and he had to apologize, he had felt quite unlucky.

"Perhaps this is the start of my lucky streak!" Thinking this, David Gustin whistled. The stunning lady took out her makeup kit and touched up her makeup in front of the mirror. Even without makeup, she belonged to the absolutely attractive type with flawless skin, golden hair, and emerald green eyes that exuded sensuality and liveliness. Such a girl was rare to be seen in school.

"What's your name?" the lady suddenly asked, glancing at him with her eyes.

"David, David Gustin," David Gustin replied happily. "May I know your name?" As he was speaking, the car turned a corner and arrived at the entrance of a villa. However, the automatic gate at the entrance didn't open.

As soon as they got out of the car, a strong smell of blood filled the air.

David Gustin's face immediately changed. Just as he turned his head to look at the girl, his eyes blurred, and the girl suddenly jumped up, one foot landing on the hood of the car. She leaped up, performing a somersault, and landed smoothly inside the gate. At the same time, she pulled out a short sword from her high-top boots.

"Who are you, really?" David Gustin shouted loudly at the lady.

Just as he finished shouting, a gust of wind accompanied by a strong smell of blood suddenly hit him. He quickly stepped back, but the shadow came swiftly, a long and massive shadow sweeping towards him. There was no way to dodge it. His proud speed had no effect in the face of this shadow.

"Hey!" A clear and crisp scolding voice was heard, and suddenly a figure rushed towards the massive shadow. The long dagger seemed to pierce into it, and a "pu" sound could be heard - the sound of a sharp weapon penetrating flesh.

"Ugh!" A strange and piercing scream followed, chilling and eerie.

The enormous elongated shadow suddenly stopped and rose high up.

"Oh my God!" David Gustin couldn't help but inhale sharply. A half-human, half-snake monster was right in front of him, its massive silhouette completely enveloping them both.

"Dad!" David Gustin's heart filled with a sense of foreboding, and he shouted loudly.
