Under the moonlit night, a silhouette was moving rhythmically, appearing from a distance like an agile monkey. But up close, it was more like a gigantic wolf. Yes, a creature resembling a wolf was leaping and running through the forest on this full moon night.
"Lisa...don't blame me. You're pushing me...say 'hi' to your dead mother for me," Sean was undoing Lisa's pants, feeling her body convulse. He released her in panic, but Lisa's body was already out of control, shaking like a sieve.
"Damn..." Sean cursed, spat on the ground after a moment of panic, stood up, and started to undo his own pants. It seemed that even if Lisa died right now, he would still pounce on her.
"Awooo---"
Suddenly, a wolf howl pierced through the quiet night like a sword, startling Sean. His hand slipped, letting his falling pants trip him. He wanted to turn around and examine the situation but instead fell face-first onto the grass, shouting loudly.
"Come out, come out, I'll show you..."
Before he could finish his sentence, there was another piercing wolf howl, followed by a sudden gust of wind from the forest. A wolf, twice the size of a man, leapt out from the woods and landed right in front of Sean O'Brielle.
The sudden appearance of this giant wolf startled Sean and he stumbled backward, but tripped over his fallen pants again, falling to the ground once more.
God, he had never seen such a large wolf. What the hell was this...this monster?
Sean couldn't help but groan. An intense fear began to spread in his heart because he saw the giant wolf gradually approaching him. He could even see the sharp fangs glistening in its open mouth.
One bite, Sean was willing to bet, just one bite, and this wolf could snap his neck, or even tear apart his entire body.
"Aow---" The wolf suddenly opened its mouth wide and roared at Sean. He was so scared that his soul seemed to scatter. He tried to get up and run, but his pants entrapped him. Even crawling was impossible as his limbs were limp with fear.
"God, save me---" He cried out in despair.
But God couldn't hear his plea, because the wolf had already seized him in its mouth and was sprinting towards the depths of the forest. It charged through the trees, parting them on either side, and when it reached the end of the forest, the wolf suddenly stood upright, flinging Sean who was still in its mouth into the lake ahead.
"Splash---" Water splashed everywhere.
Sean slowly sank to the bottom of the lake. His bones were crushed by the wolf's bite, he couldn't move or struggle, all he could do was sink slowly. As he sank, a shadow suddenly darted out from the bottom of the lake.
The shadow, like a phantom from the deep, swept Sean away with it, disappearing quickly into the dark underwater weeds. Just as if nothing had happened, the surface of the lake was once again calm.
The giant wolf quickly returned to Lisa, who was lying on the ground, her body occasionally convulsing, clearly in a dire state. The wolf turned Lisa over with its paw. The girl's face was covered in dirt, as were her mouth and nose. Her chest no longer rose and fell, and her body's convulsions were growing weaker.
"Awooo---" The giant wolf couldn't help but raise its head and howl at the moon, as if venting endless sorrow. Just then, a pair of headlights swept over. The sound of a car engine could be heard.
"Stop---" A shout burst forth, and a man emerged from the edge of the forest, holding up a shotgun, aiming it at the giant wolf.
Despite his steady grip on the gun, the man's heart was in turmoil. What kind of wolf was this? It looked like a behemoth. Even the largest brown bear was probably no bigger. He had never seen anything like it before. What was even more shocking was that the wolf seemed to nod at him.
Lisa...damn it, Lisa was right under the wolf's foot, her condition looking dire, her body weakly convulsing. The sight shattered her father's heart. He couldn't hesitate any longer and fired a shot at the giant wolf.
"Bang---" The gunshot rang out. The bullet seemed to pierce the wolf's body, but there was no sign of injury. The impact of the bullet made it feel a bit of pain.
"Aow---" The giant wolf let out a low growl, a natural response to the pain.
Paper, paper! Joseph hurriedly pulled out the piece of paper from his pocket, bit his finger, and dripped blood onto it.
The wolf observed this process, but it was more puzzled than anything, wondering what was the point of doing all this.
"Whoosh---" As the blood dripped onto the paper, a gust of wind suddenly blew, and the paper unexpectedly ignited, slowly rising into the air. It transformed into a smoke figure, which quickly outlined a model.
Yes, just like the model cut from the paper.
"Aow---"
As if a wind was summoned out of nowhere, the smoke figure in the air suddenly solidified. In an instant, a tiger leapt out of thin air, pouncing directly at the giant wolf. The giant wolf seemed to be provoked, growling in response, entangling with the sudden appearance of the fierce tiger, and the two started to brawl. This tiger was huge, in no way inferior to the giant wolf. The ensuing fight was a clash of equals, resulting in the surrounding trees and grass being trampled haphazardly.
"Lisa, my daughter!" During the clash of the two giant beasts, Joseph managed to drag Lisa away, and then transported her to his vehicle. He couldn't care less about anything else now. His daughter seemed to show no signs of life, and the realization was like a knife cutting into his flesh, filling him with unbearable pain.
"Damn it, damn it!" Joseph ignited the car and sped off toward the highway. Meanwhile, the two giant beasts were still fighting in the forest, their earth-shattering roars faintly audible even after he had driven onto the highway.
"Whooosh—" The car sped along the highway. Joseph glanced at his daughter slumped in the passenger seat. He intermittently reached a hand out, touching hers, while muttering to himself.
"God… save Lisa."
Suddenly, the car made a sharp turn off the highway and veered into the forest, on a rough path that could easily lead him to Jason's cabin. He didn't know why he decided to drive to Jason's cabin. He only felt that if there was any hope for Lisa, it might lie with Jason.
With a slam, the car door closed. Joseph, holding Lisa, rushed toward the cabin, shouting, "Huan—Huan—open the door, it's Joseph."
By the time he reached it, the cabin door swung open, as if waiting for him. Jason's face appeared in the doorway. He showed no surprise at Lisa's condition and casually pointed to the worn-out fabric sofa in the living room. "Put her there."
Lisa was laid on the sofa. Jason stretched out his finger to feel Lisa's pulse, his brows furrowed as he shook his head. "She's already gone."
"No—" Joseph suddenly fell to his knees, clutching his daughter's hand. His body trembled violently as he buried his face deep on the edge of Lisa's sofa.
This was the most painful moment for him. Lisa had been his key reason to live for a long time. If Lisa were dead, his heart would be half-dead too. His life ahead would likely be a mere existence, a walking corpse.
"Save her—" Joseph's voice emerged in a low murmur. His voice was hoarse, as if suppressed by something heavy and he couldn't articulate clearly, but Jason understood.
"I know, I know... but going against the heavens... always requires a price!" Jason seemed to sigh, his voice soft, but Joseph heard him.
"No matter the price, I am willing…" Joseph stood up suddenly without any hesitation. He stared at Jason, his eyes filled with hope and fear. He was afraid this hope would suddenly shatter.
"I need a lotus flower…"
Yes, a lotus flower. Jason repeated, and Joseph heard clearly. It was a lotus flower. This left him stunned for a second, but he quickly reacted. No matter what, he had to find that lotus flower.
"Within twenty-four hours, if you can't find one, prepare for her funeral!" Jason nodded at Joseph, "I'll watch Lisa. You go, the sooner, the better!" After speaking, he closed his eyes, no longer looking at Joseph.
Joseph pursed his lips. He had no choice now. He knew that from a modern medical perspective, Lisa could already be declared dead. With no pulse and her body growing cold, everything pointed to her death. But he had seen Jason's miracles. He could only pin all his hopes on Jason.
Watching the car speed off into the night. Jason looked at Lisa's face and couldn't help but sigh. He laid his hand on Lisa's pulse, and her body, which had become cold and slowly hardened, began to warm and soften.
The moment he saw the blood drip onto the piece of paper, he sensed that something had happened. He didn't know what, but he could imagine it was something dangerous.
He wasn't anxious to uncover the truth. Everything could wait until Joseph came back. If Joseph didn't tell him the situation, Jason wouldn't ask.
In the night, everything became even more sorrowful. Faint wolf howls could be heard in the distance…
