Changxi woke up early. Seeing the early sunlight, she thought of waking Chen up for the exercise. Her steps halted when she saw a figure in the backyard, and soon the view completely caught her off guard.
Under the tender sunlight, Chen was practicing qigong with utmost concentration. His every move was smooth and perfect. The old man has dozed off near the door.
On the other hand, Chen's head turned aside, his eyes moved swiftly in her direction. "Good morning, Changxi," though he was just looking in her direction, his cold eyes made her heart freeze in fright, "You… how?"
"I've got familiar with your footsteps," his lips curled up.
'His hearing ability is beyond powerful' she thought.
Later, for the whole day, Changxi diagnosed his full health and inner qi. Through her customized diet plan for him and regular exercise, within a couple of days, Chen found a noticeable change in his temperament. He felt calm and relaxed, and the uneasiness and burning in his heart had vanished.
One day,
After breakfast, Chen was sitting on the wooden table. Master Hong was treating a patient, whereas Uncle Bong was instructing Dihao and the old man about shifting the staple things in the house. Xinxin was actively helping Dihao with blushed cheeks.
Changxi came out while wiping her wet hands, "Chen, go to my room, take off your shirt, and wait for me"
.
.
.
Everyone froze on their spot, including Chen.
.
.
.
The surroundings became deathly quiet.
.
.
"…I can't," Chen said, to which Uncle Bong, the old man, Dihao, Xinxin, and even the other patient nodded in agreement. Uncle Bong said, "Changxi, ahem, it is improper for a young lady and a young man, inside a closed room like this."
Realizing the situation, Master Hong sighed while clutching his heart, "Oh my poor old heart, her ambiguous words would tear it apart!"
Turning to Dihao, Changxi said, "You got my thing?" Dihao nodded stiffly and passed a small wooden tube, "Let me join you, I mean, he will need help—" "No need," Changxi denied while opening the tube cork. She checked every needle and smirked with satisfaction.
Meanwhile, seeing the needles, everyone sighed in relief, so it was for acupuncture.
Changxi narrowed her eyes, "What? Do you think I am a pervert who would take advantage of a weak guy?" Everyone laughed in embarrassment.
Inside,
Changxi saw Chen sitting there silently, "Are you waiting for me to strip you?" Chen shook his head in discomfort and started untying the knots. "Just remove your shirt and lie down on your stomach. Take deep breaths, relax, and close your eyes."
When she was done with the arrangements and sat beside him, she got suspicious seeing the completely unexpected view.
Whereas Chen's eyes snapped open as he didn't feel her movements, "Changxi?"
"…Who are you?"
Chen's body turned stiff as he felt a pointed needle touching his neck. Her one swift move can easily block his main artery.
"Answer me," Changxi said while looking at Chen's back, which was filled with severe scars like a warrior.
After a short pause, he nodded. "I—" When he tried to get up, Changxi pinned his shoulder, "Don't even think…" touching the needle on his neck, she said, "Continue..."
"We used to be a wealthy family in the Capital. I was preparing to join the army, that was my dream since childhood. But when this happened to me, I became useless to my family, and they threw me out."
Changxi smirked, "Do you think I will buy this? Parents throwing their child out—"
"It's true," Chen interrupted her, "because I… my mother is a mistress," Changxi was about to snap at him but saw him clenching his fists tightly, his unfocused cold eyes had a rage, "Illegitimate child's always, just a tool, that can be easily thrown out."
Changxi sighed lightly. She explained to him the whole process and said, "I am starting."
As her hand touched his body, Chen held it tightly and looked at her, "Changxi, I want to have my revenge, and for that, I need your help. Just like you hate lies, I hate betrayal. So can I trust you?"
Changxi was stunned. It was her first time seeing Chen's serious side. Looking at his cold determined eyes, she said, "I am not interested in your matters, but about my skills, I can assure you. You will have your vision back in a few weeks, that's my word. I can't show any proof of my words—"
"I am trusting you," Chen said. He freed her hand and laid as she instructed.
Outside,
Only Master Hong was calmly doing his work, the rest three were drowned in impatience.
Uncle Bong and Dihao were concerned about Changxi being alone with Chen, whereas the old man looked terrified for some reason, 'God, please keep him calm. Please stop him from creating any havoc and from killing that divine physician! Please, I beg you!' he prayed.
Seeing Changxi coming out, he rushed to go inside. "Let him rest a bit," she said, pausing the old man, "I just want to see if he is ok or not," he gulped.
The old man went inside Changxi's room with shaking legs. His legs gave up seeing Chen sleeping peacefully, "Heavens! Thank you so much."
Whereas Chen opened his eyes to this noise, "What?" and looked in his direction. "I-I th-thought you," the old man shivered.
"Don't worry," Chen sighed, "I am feeling good these days, this divine physician is really something," a small smile appeared on his lips.
Sensing no reply from the old man, Chen asked, "What happened? Do you too find her familiar?"
The old man sat straight and agreed, "Yes, from the very first time. But on the other hand, it's my first time seeing a girl like this. I have never encountered someone with this demeanor," making Chen smirk, "…Indeed."
