Chapter 2 - DANIEL DIARY : PART O N E

May 3, 1890,

Bistriz,

I arrived in Bistriz by train from the city of Vienna, as expected I arrived exactly at 06:46 then spent the night at the Hotel Royale when night fell. Throughout the journey the scenery accompanied me, it didn't change much because I was used to this route when I finished my education in Romania. I can't wait to meet Count Dracula, a mysterious figure who was the topic of conversation when I was at university, his name was always vaguely associated with magical or supernatural events. Even some colleagues I know consider stories about Count Dracula to be nothing more than petty gossip created to scare children in Transylvania.

But I found the stories about him very interesting, very different from boring lessons consisting of dozens of chapters on commercial law or criminal law. I started looking for snippets of stories about him so that some of my friends thought I was strange, so that's why when I heard that my adoptive father had a client from Transylvania, it caught my attention. It was really annoying when father sent Renfiel first instead of me offering myself, then after Renfield's disappointing performance I was surprised when he asked Jonathan to go. Once again I was determined to leave for the second time the old fool disappointed me.

For a long time I have suspected that my father, who in fact owns the Exeter company, is using Jonathan, who he has long considered his son, all this time, I have been trying to have a big heart to accept the existence of Jonathan, who even though I consider him to be my own brother, has become an enemy in disguise, only this time I have given up. to give in, then I racked my brain while waiting for the right time. After thinking carefully, I used a little potion that I learned in Romania. I'm sorry, Jonathan. At least the potion only makes you hot and cold for a few nights, but there are no dangerous effects in the future.

When visiting Bristriz I took the time to visit the famous church in the city center, this was the second time I visited and the second time the building was still very amazing to me even though it was not as majestic as Wesmister Cathedral, London England.

When I visited, I took the time to pray for forgiveness, at least I felt very guilty for what I did to Jonathan, I hope he can understand my actions. When I came home it was getting dark, I saw a woman from a distance. Even though it's not very clear, I'm very sure that the woman is very beautiful and beautiful. His hair was black, his lips were blood red, his eyes were sharp as if he could see into my soul. When he walked closer to where I was, my heart was beating so fast for no apparent reason that the distance between us started to shorten, I heard the howling of an animal like a wolf, but the sound was so loud it was so ear-splitting that I covered my ears tightly because of the pain.

When the howling stopped I found that the woman had disappeared as the weather worsened. It was really strange that day, as if strange events were appearing at the same time, without realizing it I started to pay attention to the people around me, even though the sun had not yet set, I didn't find many people on the way to the rest area. It's as if a curfew is enforced in this city so that all residents follow the rules very well.

According to the instructions I received tonight, I spent the night at the Golden Krone Hotel. When I arrived at the hotel lobby, I found a message written very neatly by Count Dracula.

"My Friend welcome to the Carpathians, I am anxiously expecting you, sleep well tonight, at three tomorrow the dilligence will start for Bukovina ; a place on it is kept for you. At the Borgo Pass my carriage will await you and will bring you to me. I trust that your journey from London has been a happy one, and that you will enjoy your stay in my beautiful land.

"Your Friend"

"Dracula"

After reading the letter addressed to me, I asked myself whether the count knew that what Exeter had sent was not Jonathan but me. At least I prepared some answers that I made up on the train journey through the Carpathian mountains.

"Count Dracula apologizes if Jonathan Harvey is unable to come for some reason, but don't worry because I, Daniel Black, will not disappoint and will work as hard as possible to facilitate your needs."

Simple and not too far-fetched, it was quite embarrassing when I practiced these words in front of the mirror several times until one of the train passengers knocked on the toilet corridor where I was practicing. I'd better finish my diary today, it's time for me to rest because the last few nights I haven't slept well because I've been disturbed by the sounds of nocturnal animals.
