Chapter 179 - Chapter 179 - Third Prince of Artica and Dragons.

[Chapter Size: 4100 Words.]

Thrid Person POV

Essos, 296 AC.

---------------------------------------

Jon finally stepped onto the deck of the main ship while the three who had traveled with them to Valyria entered the center of the fleet. The ship, slightly crooked and full of dwarves, accompanied them more slowly. Not even the giants could board with the dwarves, who expelled everyone else. Jon ended up saying nothing in response to their enthusiasm for forging Valyrian steel.

And that might be all of the dwarves from the other ships, while everyone seemed to have bright eyes at the sight of the piece buried on the deck of that ship, causing a commotion among all the vessels.

"Can you guys deal with these people?" Jon immediately demanded of all the captains through the Warg, as they tried not to let this bizarre situation spiral out of control.

Jon looked ahead, seeing Ygritte and Rhaenys waiting for him as he approached with Arya, Wind, and Daenerys.

Ygritte was looking at him with a slightly furrowed brow. She was about to board the ship, but at the last moment, she began to vomit, feeling seasick. Jon quickly checked her stomach, and as he had suspected, she was pregnant again, surprising Jon. Despite her protest that she was coming to Valyria with him because she had already prepared, Jon refused outright.

He would never let the mother of his children embark on dangerous ventures while carrying his seed growing in her womb. Ygritte immediately stayed with Rhaenys.

Ygritte seemed to look at him as if she had failed him, and Jon felt like hitting his own head over it. After all, it was their child that was about to grow in her belly, and Jon would never accept her seeing it as a mistake. Meanwhile, Rhaenys, despite keeping her hands on her large belly, glanced at Daenerys with curiosity as she held a black egg in her hands. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she even checked to see if there was another egg for her or her child.

"There are plenty of eggs, Rhaenys. Don't be so anxious," Jon told her, and he went straight to Ygritte, kissing her first and looking at her seriously, causing the red-haired woman to blush slightly.

Rhaenys was next, and he kissed her as well. "Let's bring the eggs first, and then we can talk," he said again while Rhaenys tried to control her excitement and nodded to her husband.

"Bring everything I stored in that room on the deck and take it to my quarters," Jon ordered as he went to speak with his captain about the next steps of their journey. Meanwhile, Arya, Wind, and Daenerys joined the Arctic Queens, watching as the soldiers began transferring everything from one ship to the other through the bow. Rhaenys kept her eyes fixed on the chests, and when Jon finished, he approached her.

"Let's go to the room. You all can come too, if you're curious," Jon ended up inviting all five of them, heading to the room to arrange things.

He picked up the chests and, as he had done the first time with the citadel's eggs, placed them at the head of his bed with hot coals to warm them and keep them together.

The paintings, armors, and weapons were also arranged in various places in the room. Jon would still need to work at a forge to create the armor he wanted for himself, which wasn't possible in the middle of the sea.

"Jon, can I choose an egg?" Rhaenys turned to him while they stared at the eggs now beginning to warm up. Daenerys kept her hand on one, even in the middle of the fire, seemingly unbothered by it.

"You can choose, yes. Follow your instincts and pick the one that feels right for you," Jon encouraged, and Rhaenys quickly nodded, looking at the lined-up eggs and choosing a gray one with purple spots, like her eyes.

"It's a she..." she said.

"A she? How do you know that?" Daenerys asked curiously.

"Because I just feel it..." Rhaenys murmured softly.

"Jon, you have so many eggs... Can't I keep one too?" Arya asked, curious.

"You can't, Arya... You don't have Targaryen blood to have a dragon," Jon replied calmly. It was harsh, but it was also the truth.

"I understand..." she murmured at the end.

"Why don't you marry Jon? Then your children could have dragons, right?" Wind asked beside her, surprising Arya with the question.

"What are you talking about?! He's my brother!" Arya exclaimed.

"Brother...? You two are cousins, and besides, isn't he already married to a sister?" Wind countered, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah..." Arya didn't know what to say about that, and her gaze ended up shifting to Jon, who was staring at her with a neutral expression. She quickly looked away, feeling embarrassed by the idea.

Jon completely ignored this conversation, choosing to address other matters now that they were all there.

"Could you give us some privacy? I want to speak with my wives," Jon requested in a calm but authoritative tone.

"Yes... of course," Daenerys murmured, holding her egg tightly and leaving the room, while Wind and Arya, who kept glancing at Jon, began to exit as well.

Once the door closed, Jon turned to Rhaenys and Ygritte. "Well, Rhaenys, I want you to rest from now on... the baby will be born in the next few weeks if I'm correct," Jon said.

"Only if you pamper me..." she murmured with a playful smile.

"I'll do my best," he replied in a neutral tone, maintaining a serious expression until he allowed a small smile to appear. Then he turned to Ygritte, who already knew what was coming.

"Do you think our child is a mistake?" he asked seriously.

"No! Of course not," she exclaimed. "How could you think that?!" she said.

"Your expression... you see this pregnancy as a mistake," Jon said in a serious tone.

"I'm sorry for thinking that way... I don't want him to be a mistake; I just thought I could help more on this journey..." she lowered her voice this time, murmuring. She had wanted to get pregnant in Artica again, as she wanted to help Jon on this journey as Seryna had done in Westeros.

"Listen, Ygritte, I don't know how it happened, especially since you were taking something stronger than moon tea... but it happened, and this is the will of our gods. No child will be a burden to us, you know that, right?" He approached her with a softer tone, while Rhaenys watched them in surprise.

"I... I'm sorry... I shouldn't have thought that way... I just didn't want to be like the last journey, and I planned to be by your side..." She began to cry as she embraced him, clearly starting to feel guilty for having thought that way.

"It's alright... We'll find a way this time so you won't feel so sick during this journey. Besides, I saw some things in the green vision, and once your nausea starts, we'll be in Yi-Ti. I've heard of a formula they make for pregnant women, so you'll be fine. Just take care of our child..." Jon requested, and Ygritte nodded.

Jon stayed with his two wives, now both expecting new children for him, while the ships positioned themselves to sail south, with everyone keeping control over the dwarves' commotion about the forge. The ships ended up tethering the forge ship, which was being pulled by five other ships to keep it from losing too much speed and to stay in line with the others.

The fleet sailed for an entire week, rounding the southern tip of Valyria without heading north where more Free Cities were located. They remained in the open sea, and Jon spent his days without further problems, focusing on caring for his family, while Daenerys practically lived in his quarters, warming her egg alongside the others. Arya was behaving strangely, keeping a little distance from Jon. Even during her training with him, she always seemed restless. Jon wanted to ask what was going on, but his duties with his pregnant wives, the dragon eggs, the fleet, mapping the coasts from the air or exploring the seabed through his Kraken, constantly kept him occupied.

The number of ships they encountered in these waters decreased as there were no regular trade routes beyond Slaver's Bay, and the cities to the far east were even more extreme. Not that there wasn't trade, but it was much less frequent. However, in terms of human trafficking, there was still a significant slave trade.

"Aren't we going to Slaver's Bay to hunt down those who attacked us?" Arya asked Jon as she entered his cabin the moment she found a chance.

"I haven't forgotten what happened to Hilla, Arya. But we can't attack them with the ships still full of goods. We haven't even sold half of it, and I hope to empty our stores as soon as we reach the East," Jon commented, setting his quill down and looking at her.

"..." She pressed her lips together.

Jon saw this and sighed. It was obvious that she wanted revenge. "I know what you're seeking, Arya, and understand this: I want to make them pay for their attack as well. We will do that, but first, I want to focus on the East. Alright?" Jon asked, looking at Arya intensely, and she nodded.

She left soon after, and Jon resumed drawing while keeping his eyes focused far to the north with a flock of birds he had linked and sent there. His powers only worked fully on animals close to him, making it difficult to control them from afar. It was one thing to control a city before him, but quite another to attempt controlling animals nearly 1,000 kilometers away.

His birds flew over every city—Mantarys, Tolos, Astapor, Yunkai, and Meereen—observing every detail of these cities and transfiguring them onto his maps, noting their strengths and weaknesses as he registered the attack routes planned to dismantle the entire Slaver's Bay and respond to what had happened in Volantis. He already had his animals infiltrated in each of these cities.

Jon was making a final line when his pencil stopped, and he looked up with wide eyes. Ghost was calling him. He immediately stood up, leaving his strategy behind.

The guards at the door looked at the king as he exited with unusual urgency, his gaze fixed on the ship's entrance in the distance.

"I want Laid and the midwives summoned immediately! My child is being born!" Jon's voice echoed through the ship, reaching the deck and causing a commotion with the king's orders heard in every room.

"Now I need to see my child being born and take care of my wife," Jon said, heading inside the ship, accompanied by the guards.

"My king..." The royal guards stationed at his quarters' entrance quickly approached him, looking slightly nervous.

"I know what you're going to say—that Rhaenys started calling for me. I'm going in. Only let the midwives enter. Understood?" Jon instructed as he entered the room.

They nodded, and Jon walked in without another word. The door opened, and he saw Rhaenys, looking frightened, gripping the headboard of the bed, while Ghost paced back and forth, unsure of what to do. Rhaenys kept her hand on her belly, looking at Jon as he finally arrived.

"Jon, you're finally here!" she murmured weakly, seeming to be in great pain as the floor was wet.

"Ghost, calm down and wait in the corner!" Jon first needed to stop his three-meter wolf from pacing around the room, which was far too small for his size and could risk bumping into Rhaenys.

Ghost obeyed, and Jon quickly approached Rhaenys. She had been standing, looking at her egg burning in the coals, when it happened. Her first reaction was to scream with all her strength for Jon, so the guards nearby could hear her, and she told them to call him as their child was about to be born.

"I know, my love. Your water broke, and the healers are on their way, but what are you doing standing? Lie down on the bed!" Jon said, moving closer to her.

"I just wanted to make sure you would come! I'm scared!" she exclaimed, emotions peaking.

Jon wasn't offended by her raised voice; he touched her gently. "Now, I want you to lie down on the bed and relax," he said, helping her settle in, removing the sheets and placing her in the most comfortable position possible, with a few pillows beneath her head.

Rhaenys clenched her teeth but adjusted herself into the best position she could, watching as her husband opened her dress with his own hands to expose her belly, moving his palm over it.

Jon began to emit a green glow as Rhaenys felt the pain and agony lessen significantly. She looked at him in surprise, moving her hand to his free one, holding it gently and caressing it, a tearful smile forming on her face.

"He's coming, Jon. Our child is coming..." she said with a hint of joy, feeling more relaxed now.

"Yes, he is," Jon nodded, and at that moment, the door opened as several women entered.

"My king, how is she?" Laid asked, assessing the situation as she approached them.

"I helped stabilize her pain a bit. Now, we need to work on the baby's delivery," Jon said, continuing the same procedure he had used with his other two wives when their children were born in Artica. Wind was also among the midwives to help, and Ygritte appeared as well, standing beside Jon.

"Relax. When Lyanna was born, our husband turned a painful birth into just a tickle while he took care of everything, so you'll be fine..." Ygritte spoke comforting words while Rhaenys nodded, starting to show sweat on her face.

The birthing process began, with Jon maintaining his healing on Rhaenys, reducing almost all the discomfort, pain, and bleeding, making the exertion needed for the birth easier. The midwives began giving instructions, cleaning and preparing the area. Laid was moving between Rhaenys and below, placing wet cloths on her forehead and wiping her, continuing to give guidance to the third queen of Artica.

It wasn't long before an echo of cries filled the room. Even Ghost, who had remained in the corner the entire time after Jon's command, watching intently, rose at that moment. Jon saw one of the midwives lift the baby from between Rhaenys's legs.

The boy was wriggling, eyes closed, crying loudly. "He's a healthy boy, my king!" the midwife announced, looking at the lively baby in her hands, holding him with great care.

"Give him to me, please, give him to me!" Rhaenys pleaded with all the strength she could muster as soon as she saw her son. This was the moment when a woman forms the strongest bond in the world—a mother with her child.

"Here, my queen," the midwife said after cleaning the baby with a cloth.

She took the baby carefully, placing him beside her in her arms after the midwife had wiped him clean. Rhaenys gave the most sincere smile she could, seeing the most precious thing in her world, and kissed him as Jon watched, seeing his third child born.

Jon wanted to hold his son too, but he continued working to stop Rhaenys's bleeding until it was finally under control, and the midwives finished cleaning her up completely.

"Jon, he looks just like you!" she said, noticing the baby trying to open his eyes and squinting slightly, crying and flailing as he experienced his first moments in the world. His mother tried to soothe him, touching and kissing him gently.

He had black hair and gray eyes, a complete Stark appearance, just as Jon had been born. "Yes, my love, I admit I'm surprised he resembles me so much," Jon said, leaning in to kiss both the baby and Rhaenys on the forehead.

"What shall we name him?" Rhaenys murmured, as they hadn't discussed the child's name yet, while the midwives turned to Jon.

"My king, we should change the entire bed..." Laid said, and Jon nodded at this before responding to Rhaenys.

"Please, do that. Place her on a spare bed and bring me everything she needs before setting a new mattress on my main bed," he instructed.

Quickly, the women began issuing orders to the guards, who promptly acted, already prepared for this. They brought in an extra bed through the large door while Rhaenys was carefully moved from one bed to the other. Jon held his son for the first time, trying to calm him, but the child was quite restless. He placed him back beside his mother, and the midwives and guards removed the soiled bed.

"Jaehaerys..." Jon said, "...his name will be Jaehaerys." He ended up giving the child a Valyrian name, and Rhaenys smiled.

"Jaehaerys, then," she murmured, kissing his forehead.

They continued caring for the baby until Ygritte approached and gently held him when it was her turn. "He's entirely a version of you, Jon. Even more so than his older brother..." she commented, also falling in love with the child. "No matter the gender, but I also want a child..." she murmured after handing the baby back to his mother in bed.

"Yes, we'll see about that when the baby begins to grow in your belly. Either way... it seems other things are about to be born as well," Jon murmured, glancing at the eggs, which had started to react at that moment. He saw Rhaenys lift her gaze towards the eggs in the coals, watching for any sign of movement as Jon's words had hinted, and she felt hopeful.

Even Daenerys, who stood beside Arya holding the black egg, waited to see the baby outside the room while the royal family settled things with the midwives, who were finally beginning to leave. Suddenly, she felt the egg's shell start to crack.

Simultaneously, all the other eggs also began showing cracks, with small dragons emerging, dazed by their first moments in the world.

Jon could see all the dragons starting to break through their now much softer shells, revealing their heads and emitting infantile draconic sounds.

The gray egg with purple spots that Rhaenys had kept close to her was next to the other bed, and it too began to crack. She watched it happen, holding her son joyfully and tenderly in her arms.

"It's being born... my dragon," Rhaenys murmured, finally seeing her dream come true alongside the birth of her son, making this the happiest day of her life.

Everyone heard the dragons emerging and looked at them—Jon, Rhaenys, and even the baby—recognizing the power in their blood.

"Let's move her to the main bed and place the dragons there as well," Jon instructed as he began to pick up the small dragons one by one. They looked at him, but they weren't aggressive, while the other bed was already swapped and cleaned by the Articans. They then moved Rhaenys with Ygritte bringing the baby.

It didn't take long for fourteen dragons to gather around Rhaenys and the baby, curiously observing everything. The door opened at that moment, and Daenerys appeared with a black dragon on her shoulder, looking at Jon, appearing both lost and joyful.

"He's born!!! But Jon, what do I do with him now that he's born?" she exclaimed, sounding like an overwhelmed little girl.

"Calm him down..." he said, noticing that the dragon was quite restless with his aunt. "Guards, bring me dried meat, cut into small slices!" Jon ordered. The dragons liked to breathe fire on pieces of meat and eat them in Artica, so these would be no different. The guards quickly complied, bringing some, and Jon set the food out for the dragons while teaching his sister and aunt how to care for them with his son in his arms, calming him at last.

A few days passed after this, with Jon trying to adapt to his new son and more than fifteen dragons in his quarters when Daenerys brought hers. He tried to teach them not to breathe fire on the wood, even though this wood was special and resistant. The dragons' fire was still powerful enough to ignite everything, and he didn't want any fires breaking out in the middle of the sea, so he needed to be more careful than he preferred.

In an unsurprising twist of fate, Daenerys truly bonded with the black dragon with yellow eyes, and Rhaenys bonded with a gray dragon with purple eyes. However, Jaehaerys Artica, the third prince of the most powerful kingdom in the world, had yet to bond with any dragon, apparently.

The same situation occurred with his children; although all the dragons were friendly with Jaehaerys and seemed to care for and protect him, there was no solid bond with any one in particular. They behaved similarly with Jon, albeit a little less friendly towards Daenerys and Rhaenys, yet without posing a threat to either of them. However, with others, the dragons were different—aggressive with Arya and anyone else, to the point of spitting small flames if they felt disturbed, not allowing anyone to touch them.

On this particular day, Jon hadn't even left the room, waking up naked with his two wives. Now, he could consummate his marriage with Rhaenys again, rekindling the passion they had in Dorne, without neglecting Ygritte, as he had to treat both with equal intensity.

"Well, I'll start preparing the ships, so I'll be out for a while," Jon said after several hours had passed, looking at the small cradle placed beside his bed. Rhaenys, now with her slim figure as if she hadn't just gone through a pregnancy, was looking beside her husband at their calm son, with two dragons sleeping next to him. The baby opened his gray eyes, gazing at Jon and Rhaenys with curiosity.

"All right, just come back soon, please," she murmured, while Ygritte was sketching the dragons in a corner, and even Daenerys was in the room at that moment, playing with her dragon alongside the others. They were scattered around the space, some trying to climb into the cradle without success, and Jon or Rhaenys would place them next to their son whenever they wanted to be near him.

Jon nodded and began to leave, looking back to see the dragons starting to follow him. He had to close the door despite the little creatures' protests, as he couldn't take them everywhere at that moment like he did with the dragons in Artica.

Heading outside, he found his men waiting for him. "All right, everyone, let's prepare for the journey. I don't think it'll be easy next month, as we're heading towards the Jade Sea. So, I want you all to ready as much fire as you can and be prepared for any dangerous situation. After all, no one knows us on this side of the world. We'll have to make our name in these waters, just as we did in the West," Jon instructed.

Orders were given immediately, and the entire fleet positioned itself to face any threat while Artica's flag fluttered in the wind, with the ships heading East for the first time.

*Raccoon Here:* I completely forgot about Ygritte! That's quite the oversight! Anyway, I'm going to create a last-minute situation since I already had plans for Ygritte to get pregnant on this journey. It would be strange if that didn't happen, considering they'd be at sea together for months. Let's get back to the story.

I know Ygritte was portrayed in a sensitive light in this chapter, but I believe she would react this way. Not that she truly saw her child as a burden, but she would be angry with herself, given she didn't have a good experience with pregnancy on the last journey and wanted to keep helping Jon as his wife. After all, the characters aren't perfect; they need to grow and mature as well, and I believe in that.

Ygritte, unlike Seryna, who has a wiser, gentler, and calmer personality, is more rebellious, sincere, and intense.
