(Some Years Ago)
Looking down, Alpha Darius saw himself standing in a pool of blood. His hands weren't spared either, they were covered in blood. It wasn't like he was feeling guilty about ending the lives of everyone in that house. He was just taking his time to accept what he had done. If they had to do it again, he knew he wouldn't hesitate. He sighed just before he heard the tiny cries of a baby coming from the kitchen. He glanced back at his close friend Maynard who had the same confused expression as he did.
They both began making their way toward the kitchen. As they got closer, the cries got louder. Getting to the kitchen they looked but it was empty. "There" Maynard pointed at the kitchen cabinet.
Alpha Darius made his way over and quietly and carefully pulled the doors of the cabinet open just for them to see a child not more than a week old, sitting in there, crying. He opened the door wider with furrowed brows, showing it to Maynard who seemed stunned too. Killing their way over to the house they were in at the moment, they didn't come across any baby that little.
"What do we do with her?"
The Alpha thought about the question carefully before bringing the baby out from the cabinet. As soon as he picked her up, she immediately stopped crying. They had a plan and it didn't involve letting anyone live not even a baby. Though having second thoughts about it, he placed his hands on the baby's face, hoping to put her out of her misery. Seeing the child grab his hand instead and began laughing made him stop. Staring at the happy face it was making, a thought hit him and he realized something important. He turned to his friend with a determined look. "We are going to keep this child"
Startled by the words he just heard, Maynard thought he must have lost it, but with the look on The Alpha's face, he knew he wasn't joking about it. "What do you mean? You can't possibly be serious. There's no way we can take in a child and the pack wouldn't find out about it. and besides you have no need to take in this child, in just a week from now you should be holding yours in your arms soon" He explained, trying to talk sense into him.
"That was what we said about the last two times she was pregnant. What if what happened before happens again. She's my mate and Luna, I can't possibly go on out and try to make a kid with some other she wolf. No one will accept that or accept the child as their Alpha when the time comes...." The Alpha paused and then sighed, staring at the child. "I need to have an heir that will succeed me"
"We are talking about a child that isn't biologically yours, a child of our enemies. The pack won't accept that either"
"They don't have to know. This could be between us. And I am not saying it should be a decided decision right now. We can just keep it a tight secret for now and wait for my Luna's delivery date. If she does birth a child for me then we end this one's life and no one will have to ever know. But if she fails to, then we present this child as mine and no one will ever have to know the truth either save for my Luna, you and I" He explained with an eager but pleading look.
Maynard thought about how dangerous of a thing he was about to do. He wanted to argue more and make him see the other side of what he was about to do, the unpleasant part. But seeing the look in his eyes he knew he wanted that so much. "Fine but this is still a dangerous game. How do we go about this?"
"Leave her alone!!!!" They heard a loud scream, coming from behind Maynard.
They turned to see a little boy with blood smeared all over his face and body. He held a stake and was running toward them with the stake pointed at them. He had tears all over his eyes and an angry look. Maynard swiftly caught his hand, dragged to the side and tried to slash the kid but he dodged, only for Maynard's claw to scratch his eyes, leaving a claw mark that went from just below the center of his left eye to almost his eyebrow.
The kid tried to attack again, but Maynard forced the stake from his hand plunged it into the kid's chest. He coughed, gagging on his blood. "The kid's got some fight in him" Maynard commented, dropping his body by the kitchen counter as life slowly sips out of him.
"He must have been this child's brother. The parents must have hidden him just like they did the baby" The Alpha pointed out.
"Yeah. We better make one more sweep to make sure no one else is hiding and then we can talk about the plan of hiding the child" Maynard stated.
(Present Day)
Tessa buried her face into her pillow, screaming into it. Thinking about her confession to Kieran the previous day was mind blowing to her. She didn't think she could ever do such a thing. She managed to make him stay but now she couldn't face him. She wouldn't be able to, she was too embarrassed to want to try. "I can't believe I opened my mouth to say that" She rolled to her back, staring at the roof. She didn't know if she should laugh or cry. It was worse seeing as he didn't say it back.
"What am I going to do?" She muttered to herself
"Hey!" Vee's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
"Hey!" Tessa called back with a squeaky voice. She didn't hear her come in. she was just too engrossed with what was going on in her head. "I wasn't expecting you" She stared at her friend with a curious look as she sat up.
"Yeah. Beta Maynard called us over. He sent me to come get you.
"Why? Is something going o.....wait, who's us?" She questioned with furrowed brows, hoping it wasn't what she was thinking about.
"Kieran and i?"
"Oh....my....God! oh my God! Oh my God!" She began panicking.
"Would you relax?" Vee rolled her eyes, walking over to her. "What's the big deal? I thought the purpose of making him stay was so you can continue seeing him?"
"Yes but did you see me rambling on about my feelings yesterday. I feel so ashamed of myself. And worse he said nothing back. What if he doesn't feel the same way?"
"Okay calm down. You dropped an unexpected bombshell on him, of course he would be taken aback a little. You just have to give a little time to wrap his head around it. He will come around. And from what I saw, he looks like someone battling with his feelings. Just give him time to sort it out; I am sure he feels the same way too"
"Yeah...maybe you're right. I will just give him a little time" Tessa replied, bobbing her head as though she understood fully.
"Good. Now what you have to be worried about is Derek and what he might be thinking about Kieran. From what you told me, I know he's definitely going to blame Kieran for it. I think you have to find a way to keep them apart, keep them from running into each other" She advised
Tessa knew she was right. There was no way Derek wouldn't blame Kieran for them breaking up. She had to keep Kieran away from Derek to prevent him from being a victim of Derek's punches and rage. "But that's going to be hard to achieve if the Beta keeps calling Kieran over like this. I mean who knows what could be going on with them over there right now if Derek's there also"
"Then you better get dressed; get over being embarrassed about confessing your feelings so you can keep Kieran alive"
"You're right" She agreed, climbing down from the bed.

Beta Maynard looked over at his son once more. Leaning against the wall, he was wrapped in anger. From what he had been told, his anger was justified. He then looked over at Kieran who was leaning against the wall on the other side of the room also. He had underestimated the Omega; he didn't think Kieran could make Tessa fall in love with him so fast. The current situation they were in was putting a dent on his plan. He had to move fast to either remove the problem or find a way to use his hidden trump card. Either way, he knew Kieran has to leave the picture.
He was still working things in his head when the door was pushed open and Tessa walked in with Vee behind her. They both look around the room and saw the death stare Derek and Kieran was sharing and it immediately made her feel uneasy and worried. Then their eyes fell on the other two unfamiliar faces standing at one of the corners. Tessa stared at them with a puzzled look, wondering who they were.
"These are Alpha Damon's twins. Nate and Cassie" Beta Maynard introduced pointing at them.
"Hi!" Both girls greeted simultaneously.
"Hi!" Nate replied, his eyes fixed on Tessa.
"Hey" Cassie replied, fondling her hair as her eyes were stuck on Kieran with a wicked smile on her lips.
Tessa noticed this and then swiftly turned to Kieran to see if he was staring at this mysterious girl but instead her eyes met his. He had been staring at her. Her heart skipped a beat and she immediately averted her eyes. 'This is going to be harder than I thought' she thought to herself. She was still too embarrassed to see him.
"Good, everyone is here. We have a mission for you and you're going to be working with Nate and Cassie and also the Omega" Beta Maynard explained, pointing to Kieran.
"An Omega huh? You look too good to be just be an Omega" Cassie commented, staring at Kieran with a seductive expression.
"What is this mission?" Tessa asked after shooting Cassie a dagger piercing look which she missed.
"We've been hearing about more disturbances around the borders. We need to make sure the borders are well secured to avoid an intrusion like the last time. The Omega is going with you to get a clear view of the pack's borders since he is now a member of the pack. You're taking the twins with you so they could see how prepared we are and then inform their Alpha" He explained
"I see. Well whenever you guys are ready" Nate stated, running his palm over his low cut.
"Yeah, I could do with the sightseeing" Cassie agreed.
"When are we leaving?" Tessa asked.
"In an hour. And oh, Derek would be overseeing the mission" The Beta stated
"Is it a good idea for him to come? He's still healing" Tessa pointed out with a concerned look.
"I am strong enough. Thanks for your unwavering concern as usual Tess" Derek blurted out.
"Well, that settles it" Beta Maynard stated.
"This isn't going to be awkward at all" Vee muttered as they all made their way out of the office to go get ready to leave.
"Derek" Beta Maynard called him back. He waited for the others to leave fully before turning to his son. I know it will be hard for you but try to control your anger so as not to put an end to the plan before it even begins"
"And what if your plan doesn't work? 'Cause lately it seems like it isn't working" He replied with a skeptical look.
"It will, and if it doesn't then it's down to plan B, one I would much rather avoid. But one way or the other, we both are going to get what we want. Even if it means unearthing old buried secrets. Trust me, there's no way we fail" He concluded, giving him a look of certainty and confidence.
