Chapter 32 - Diplomacy

King Richard II furrowed his brow at the mention of the Pinnacle Republic. "You think they might be involved in this affair?"

The royal advisor nodded cautiously. "There've been rumors and whispers of political maneuvering by the Pinnacle Republic. They've installed puppets from the House of Merchants in our territory. As Your Majesty knows, the Republic is always controlled by the Merchants."

He leaned forward, lowering his voice. "We can't let them hear about our movement in Oscana. They'll use any excuse to take our land."

King Richard II frowned. "And what do you propose we do, advisor? Do you want us to start a war with the Republic?"

The royal advisor carefully considered his words. "I suggest we proceed with caution, Your Majesty. We don't want to escalate tensions unnecessarily. However, we should be vigilant and take measures to ensure that our actions in Oscana Barony are not misinterpreted or exploited by external forces. Perhaps we can sign a non aggression pact for five years, with mutual trade and defense benefits?"

King Richard II contemplated the advisor's suggestion. After a moment of thoughtful silence, he nodded in agreement. "You make a valid point. We must be cautious in our actions to avoid unnecessary conflicts. A non-aggression pact with the Pinnacle Republic could help establish a peaceful understanding between our nations, at least for the time being."

He turned to his scribe and instructed, "Prepare a draft for a non-aggression pact with the Pinnacle Republic. Include terms for mutual trade and defense benefits. We will present it to their representatives once the Royal Army is on its way to Oscana Barony. We cannot afford distractions from external conflicts while dealing with the internal threat."

The scribe nodded and began to work on the draft, carefully wording the terms of the pact to ensure a balance of interests between Verdant Glades Kingdom and the Pinnacle Republic.

As preparations for the expedition to Oscana Barony continued, King Richard II remained vigilant, aware of the potential political implications that could arise from the unfolding events. The delicate balance between addressing internal threats and managing external relations required careful navigation to maintain the stability of the kingdom.

He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth as he recalled the bloody scene of the battle with those traitorous bastards. "It has been two weeks since then, and yet the Church of Light has not yet arrived." He spat out the words with disdain and anger.

He looked up at the sky and saw the sun shining brightly. He felt a surge of hope and determination in his chest. "Hopefully, Sri William will finish his task in the next battle, which is the real battle." He said with a confident smile.

He closed his eyes and imagined his fiefdom, where he had left his Marshal Roland in charge. He wondered how things were progressing there, and if Roland had managed to train those citizens to become an anti-mage. "I think I should see my fiefdom soon." He murmured softly, as he opened his eyes and resumed his training.

In the midst of his training, Ren received a message from Sir William, his steward.

"Milord, the fortifications in the mansion are complete, and the city's defenses have been reinforced as well. Marshal Roland has been diligently training the citizens affected by chaotic energy to become anti-mages. We await your further instructions."

Ren nodded in satisfaction, pleased with the progress made in fortifying his realm. "Good, Sri William. Continue to oversee the defenses and ensure that the army are well-prepared to face the upcoming challenges. I will return to the city soon to assess the situation and provide further guidance."

Ren couldn't shake the thought of the impending confrontation with the Inquisitor.

"Haaah..." He sighed deeply, feeling the weight of his responsibility and destiny. He rubbed his temples, trying to ease his headache. "There are so many things to do." He muttered to himself, as he continues his training.

After training for a few days, his agility and intelligence increase to 50 points.

Ren felt a surge of satisfaction as he sensed the improvement in his agility and intelligence. The intense training had paid off, and he could feel the increased fluidity in his movements and a heightened awareness of his surroundings.

"Now how to breakthrough?" Ren ask his alter ego.

The mysterious voice in his mind replied. "Find some magical fruit, magical herb or magical creature, after you get some, begin the ritual tribulation."

Ren nodded, understanding the voice's instructions. He looked around, searching for any signs of magical life forms. "It seems I should go outside to find some magical fruit." He said to himself, as he grabbed his backpack and headed towards the door.

He decided to see Sir William first to check on the fortifications of his mansion.

Ren made his way through the halls of Oscana Mansion, heading towards Sir William's office. As he approached, he could hear the steward's voice giving orders and instructions to his subordinates, carefully strategizing the defense of the city and the surrounding areas.

"Milord," Sir William greeted as he looked up from his work, his eyes shining with respect and loyalty. "How may I assist you today?"

Ren returned the greeting, his voice calm and confident. "I've come to check on the progress of the fortifications. I also plan to venture outside to find some magical resources to breakthrough." He said, as he gestured to his backpack.

Sir William nodded, "Certainly, Milord. The fortifications are complete, now we wait for the Inquisitor to invade our territory and give them hell, if they want to invade our territory."

Ren acknowledged Sir William's words with a nod. "Good. Our preparations must be thorough. The Inquisitor won't find us unprepared. I'll be heading out to gather some magical resources to enhance my abilities. In the meantime, continue overseeing the defenses and ensure that everyone is ready for the upcoming challenges."

"Oh, if possible, build trenches outside the city, to slow them down." He added, as he gave him a final piece of advice.

Sir William saluted, his posture straight and respectful. "As you command, Milord. We'll hold the fort and await your return." He said, as he watched Ren leave his office.

'Now where I should go, oh that right Emberwood, Mage Arion told me, to find Celestial Bloom I should go to Glowing Grove in Emberwood County, but its enemy territory, meh whatever.'

Ren checked his map, trying to find the best route to his destination. He remembered what Mage Arion had told him, to find Celestial Bloom he should go to Glowing Grove in Emberwood County, a rare and magical plant that could boost his chaotic energy. He frowned, as he realized that it was enemy territory, controlled by the Church of Light. He shrugged, as he felt a surge of excitement and curiosity. 'Meh, whatever. I'm not afraid of them. I'll just sneak in and out without being noticed.' He thought to himself, as he packed his map and use his Blood Pact to double his agility.

He concentrated all the chaotic energy into his thumb and recited the mantra.

"By The blood god, I offer my blood and mana. Grant me the strength to surpass my limits." He bit his thumb hard, drawing blood, dark aura that enveloped him surged, making his skin crackle. His eyes glowed with a crimson light.

Ren, now infused with the power of the Blood Pact, felt a surge of strength and agility coursing through his veins. His senses heightened, and his movements became more fluid and precise, he set forth towards Glowing Grove in Emberwood County.

As he ventured into the enemy territory, Ren remained vigilant, utilizing his enhanced agility to move stealthily through the dense forest. The canopy above filtered the sunlight, creating a mystical ambiance as he navigated through the trees and foliage. His eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for any signs of Celestial Bloom.

"Where are you, you elusive flower?" He muttered to himself, as he spotted a patch of colorful blossoms. He approached cautiously, hoping to find his target among them. He bent down and examined each flower carefully, but none of them matched the description of Celestial Bloom. He sighed in frustration, as he stood up and continued his search.
